Agreed, I was expecting a slick 180 drift.
it may be a safety thing. if the car whipped around when the women was also at the 50 meter line, it could get pretty close to her. Obviously a good driver would be fine but it's a higher risk than simply going in a straight line.
@@SirMangler I was concerned about the horrible potential for a close call or worse until Clarkson said he would use reverse. Of course, the producers were ahead of me on safety.

+moe ridesKTM Even tho she has less HP (none actually), she is much lighter and efficient than the car. But because of the lack of power, mechanical agility and weight, she has less top speed (obviously). There's no chassi that can put a big amount of power in forward movement with the effiency of a human.
+Victor de Oliveira probably 1 or 2 horsepower. I measured myself on a bike and hand crank machine to see how much power I could make. 909 watts slowly diminishing to 750 over the first 15 seconds. 1 Horsepower is 746 watts so that's about 1 - 1.2 horsepower and I'm not a pro athlete. The other disadvantage is humans tend to reach the rev limiter and no higher gear to change into unless you get a bicycle. It takes Usain Bolt to get near my top speed on a bicycle although his acceleration would be better.
Tim Lewis Actually, to measure your horse power, i think you should try to attach a string to you, put it over a pulley and attach to a 75 kg weight. If you lift the weight in less or equal to 1s, you have 1 metric hp (735W), if you you got more than 1s second you got a fraction of a metric hp. You got that energy in a certain amount of time, but horsepower also measures your pull. It's like a ferrari and a beetle, the ferrari gets to 100km/h faster than the beetle because of the engine pull. Maybe you can do it on a gym.

This is actually very interesting because it has been proven statistically that in the first 40 feet of a race, the average human can beat a car in a sprint. So, scale that up to a gtr and an Olympian, and you get the same result.

I had a football coach in the 70s that held records for speed in his college yrs. He would bet some jock who had a hopped up muscle car to a race. 50 yards. Always $20, that was decent cash in the 70s. He padded his wallet fast. While they were trying to get off the line without losing traction he was already finished. I saw this A LOT of times.
