St Anne's Church. Haverthwaite.

I saw a sign for Haverthwaite and Lakeside Railway and thought it would be a good place to explore. The turning for it was on the right hand side and I missed it. I turned left and thought I would go back to it, so I parked there. The church was plain and the door was locked, but what I found was a little gem, a beautiful churchyard. I could then walk across the road to the railway, saving me the parking charge.

Beautiful, and the wildness of the place even more so, even though it would be more seemly to keep it neat, the wild places are so few now and it lends a charm and beauty of its own untouched by man.

A charming old English graveyard . It’s a shame it suffers neglect. Aside from disrespecting the dead , the wildness of the old property itself holds interesting history and, dare I say , charm. ❤xx

Yes, I am immediately drawn to the tranquility of a graveyard where it's residents have been asleep for a long time. I am more likely to tread quietly so I don't disturb them.
