With an impressive game library spanning from 1982 to 1993 and beyond (especially these last few years), the commodore 64 has been one of the most successful home computers and game consoles ever created.

I loved the C64 and especially the Last Ninja, I remember my Mum buying it me when I was about 14 and I'm 49 now lol so about 1987/88. Me and my Dad also used to play some adventure games called See Kah of Assiah and Kentilla... Oh man the different combinations we tried, things like "Hit dwarf with rod".. "Kill Dwarf with Stick" lmao!!
Great memories that I doubt fortnite will give people when they are older.
I think part of the charm was exploring the games, and finding out what the hell to actually do! (pre-internet days). Games being 'crude' made you fantasize about them more and the world you were exploring. Last Ninja was the game that made me buy a C64 (instead of an MSX); a decision I never regretted :)
1:44:21 a masterpiece! 😃
I did not play it very masterfully though ..😆
👍👍
I remember Creatures! last level. It took me literally 6 months of trying to give up. If you missed 1 sec somewhere, you were completely doomed.
Creature was indeed very popular among those that were sticking around in the C64 scene. I personally was into Amiga at that point (1990) selling my C64 in the process. Only saw it in magazines at the time. It does play and looks nice, but to me it feels like a very overhyped title; it's nice but nothing special. Never got to the last level though :)).
@@Asphodellife i grew up in Hungary. We played with what we found. In shops you couldn't buy games, but you pirate copied in official computer shops.
@@Daikini0 Yeah, I heard about that. Imagine doing that nowadays 😄
6:56 Hol up, a german C64 game? I feel deeply honored lol
Edit: There is actaully a decent amount of german games, wonder why that is tbh
Quite some German only titles in there actually. As the C64 was quite popular in Germany, it has some unique games that were never translated and released in the rest of the world.
2:05:39 - In den Beginne - The typewriter is generating text in a script font. Odd.
Radarsoft/ Audiogenic's 'Time Traveler' shared this engine (with the typewriter thing), albeit not this 'handfwritten' font. It's kinda nice actually.
