@@StrayBoom I appreciate that. However, I missed not seeing no Dragon/Tandy startup screen or Atari 800/XL screen. Presumably for the Commodore 8-bits you just stored the text and colours, rather than wasting an entire 1k for each screen?

Yeah, there's a lot more that we didn't include, like we were even thinking of adding Mac bootscreens but threw the idea and went with the more generic approach. I don't know much about the programming/graphics background. It's definitely not memory effective to store every screen as it is, so we had custom character sets and sprites for animations. Not to mention we replaced the original A1200 boot screen's colorful logo because it would've look ridiculously low-resolution with the few color we have on C64. Win95's is also not something I'm proud of but it is what it is.

@@StrayBoom I don't think you could have done the Win95 much better unless you were going into FLI modes and all that, but it's still a really good demo - the Guru made me laugh! I love the demo scene more than the cracking scene. At least you guys are being creative! Good work. 👍

Being one of the more recent releases on C64; Caren (00:17:48) is really worth checking out as a point n click adventure. There's another version of Cataball (00:31:10) called Hoppin' Mad ua-cam.com/video/RKe096klPg4/v-deo.html. Clystron (01:39:24) I never really played back in the day; it does look and sound good though. Crossroads 1& 2 (02:56:05) were quite popular with some people I believe. Crush (02:59:02) was a spiritual sequel to Katakis and often called Katakis 2; Chris Hülsbeck music included. However Smash Designs would announce an official sequel years later for PC and C64 (in 2005?), but unfortunately it never surfaced. Cybernoid (03:16:51) and Cybernoid II (03:17:20) are absolute classics with legendary music indeed. Danger Freak was also by Rainbow Arts (03:35:09) with music from Chris Hülsbeck :). Deadline (03:57:58) and Duel (05:46:59) do have nice parallax effects. Be sure to check out recent releases like Soul Force ua-cam.com/video/wp1zgwidf1k/v-deo.html. Singe's Castle (and Dragon's Lair) were quite an achievement on C64 (05:29:08), nice cartoon-like graphics. And yes I played Denaris (04:24:41) to death , well Katakis that is; my all time favorite shooter on C64!

Bubble Bobble (05:33:13) I played a lot! timeless title. Let's see.. Armalyte (01:58:50). Also Barbarian (Palace) (03:00:45) (and it's sequel). I played that one to death back in the day and still do on occasion; perfect in 2 player mode! Buggy Boy! (05:42:41); I actually prefer the C64 version over the arcade original. Bonecruncher (04:52:12) is one of my old time favourites. Bombuzal (04:51:13). To name a few. Also a special mention to Briley Witch Chronicles (1 & 2) (05:27:55); these are recent releases but quite good JRPG style titles!.

Keeps one warm in those cold dark evenings.

Yes. 'The Briley Witch Chronicles'; a recent release. Very nice JRPG style title.

Thank you. Yes, that was a goal; trying to catch the feel of how things look on a 1702 monitor. Most of the time videos are too sharp (and no scanlines) and far too washed out for example. Also see a lot of missing borders.

It seems so. But I'm simply not familiar enough with the Neo Geo Pocket version to answer a 'yes'. As this is a one or two button version, things are simply not the same.

Correct. That and the fact that sometimes it's a bit annoying to go up or down a ladder as you have to stand in the right position. Being able to shoot from a ladder would be welcome too (Midnight Resistance style).

@@Asphodellife yeah I thought about the ability to fire on a ladder, rather than having to wait around a bit and hopefully not get killed by something spawning into you.

Game seems alright, the kind of platformer i like on 64. Can you suggest me some commercial titles that came out back in the day that looks like this, gameplay wise?

@@Zontar82 give Navy Seals a go, that may be what you are looking for. Other games similar, Bionic Commando, Midnight Resistance.

@@Zontar82 Well, one that is not exactly 'back in the day' but has a similar shoot-around-you mechanic is Steel Ranger : ua-cam.com/video/uTPu8wLA1Hg/v-deo.html. Ofcourse there is also Midnight Resistance having this. Alien 3 comes to mind as a corridor shooter. Then there are the Impossible Mission games also (but without the shooting).

It sure does; various exotic techniques and using hi-res and ECM mode as much as possible. Parallaxian and Deep Winter are going to be technically even better. Kodiak64 sure knows his breadbox it seems.

Yeah he sure has some insane amount of knowledge... Parallaxian and Wild Wood should be interesting.. Thalamus should definitely hire him for creatures 3!

@@Asphodellife Yes, it uses hi-res and ECM (well spotted, btw). I am working on a technical article to cover its main techniques, but for now I can say there is a massive number of NMIs running in sync with IRQs, a sprite-splitting trick, and lots of real-time effects. And a big thank you from me for the kind words, it's great that people like the game.

Was waiting for this release for quite a while; really looking forward to your other titles as they really make a big step forward in 64 gaming. I remember being very impressed years ago by the 'Colony' demo; glad your picked the project up again :) @@kodiak64

Dig Dug, Bagman, Ms Pacman..; it seems LC-Games just cranks out high-end arcade ports every few months or so as if it's no big deal at all.

Including all naff titles the estimate is that it's around 10.000 or even more. GameBase has it's count at 30.000 atm but that includes all type-ins and 'basic' stuff too.
