  • This clip is from a day of track racing with NECC Motorsports at the NYST in my brother Erik's stock 1968 Plymouth Road Runner. The first half of the clip is in-car footage of me riding shotgun, and giving advice. Second half is me filming him from my Alfa GTV6 "chase car" (I apologize for the wind noise, I left it raw. I'm still working on a separate digital audio recorder). This Road Runner is a factory original survivor. It's got the 335hp, 383cid 4/bbl wedge engine with a 4-speed manual, manual steering, manual drum brakes all around, riding on street spec 'red-line' radial tires. It has bench seats, and factory 3-point seat belts.. the kind where the shoulder belt is stored along the upper window edge when not in use. This was Erik's first track experience ever, and he did really well. His day's best lap time of 2:10 is only 2 secs off the best time I had at my first time at this track in my Alfa GTV6, if that says anything. The sounds of the Mopar big block shine through my running commentary, I apologize for all that talking, but I'm trying to fill his head with things to think about as he gets around the track. Questions and comments are welcome. Thank you for watching.

Great video! I love Mopars and roadracing. I have done a track day here in Northern California in my 340 Dart Swinger. It was a blast

Cool, thanks! And I've enjoyed your video for a couple months now. Those are some great lap times you're getting. My brother and I are big Mopar fans too - although we're obviously just getting started track racing. He'll be back with me at this track next summer if all goes well. He's looking at Cooper Cobra tires on stock 15 rims, stiffer front sway bar, and I'm lobbying him to get front disc brakes. Myself I have a big block '65 Satellite, with Ford 6.5x14 rims, stiffer shocks and front & rear sways but it won't be for the track, the 727 automatic won't cut it, and the big flat factory gas tank gives me poor fuel-pick-up in hard turns and acceleration. I'm loving the GTV6 though. Improving every time I"m out.. Cheers!

    Arthur,
My wife and I are the ones who sold Erik the Road Runner. I came across the video by accident. Thanks for posting!! It's great to see Erik enjoying the car, we had smiles on our faces the whole time, but I almost felt a little sad at the same time, we really miss that car after owning it from 1976 until Erik bought it. Please post more videos like this if you can, and let Erik know we watched this!!
    Best Regards,

Hey Stew! Thanks for leaving your comment! Wow, glad you found us and glad you enjoyed the video!! What a coincidence! Sorry you miss your RoadRunner - but it's been such a fabulous car for Erik and his family. It winter over at a friend's garage in Massachusetts and they drive it every summer. It's taken them to NYC, Washington DC and back, trouble free. No AC means it's a little hot in summer traffic, but they love the heat. I'll take more video of it this coming summer, they should be here in June/July.. Cheers! - Art
