1982 ALFA GTV6 & 1986 PORSCHE 944

This video is one track session on the NYST in my 1982 GTV6 and Gerrit Wistrup's 1986 PORSCHE 944, at a Track Day on September 8, 2017.
Footage is from my cam in the GTV6, switching lead with an evenly matched 1986 Porsche 944. Other cars on the track made lap times inconsistent. This was the last session of the day for me. The track had dried nicely after some morning rain. NOTE: I use the "Harry's Lap Timer" app with my iPhone to record video and gather data. I list the speeds it recorded for straights and turns. If you pay attention to these figures, you can see how speeds play directly into lap times.. especially exit speeds.. Some new lines yielded a personal best lap time of 1:55.46.

Nice video. I don't have a classic, but if i was to get one it would either be the Alfa GTV6 2.5 or a 1988 or 1989 porsche 944 NA. Great cars.

Thank you, this is at the New York Safety Track (NYST for short), in Davenport, central NY State. Yeah, definitely a real nice area. Do a search and you’ll find lots more videos posted here on UA-cam by motorcycle rides and other racing clubs, supercars, etc. A bunch of us are heading there this Saturday, though the forecast looks wet. Rain tires!

@@delahayenator apropos your screen name w Delahaye - I’m reading a book about their private campaign to challenge Mercedes and AutoUnion back in the 1930s. It’s a youth book by Neal Bascomb, called ‘Racers’. Borrowed it from my son. Lol. An excellent story. Haven’t finished it yet. No spoilers.

@@65SATisfaction Great tip! Am going to look it up. The de la Haye family is lucky to have such beautiful cars connected to their name. I've visited a big collection on display in Paris a long time ago. Amazing cars, a lot of Saoutchik designed one offs were there. Im from Holland btw
