  • We're building our 'Lil Rascal mini bike from Go Power Sports! We paint the small mini bike chassis with hunter green paint and install a Tillotson 212 engine, and race it around the CarsandCameras Grand Prix! Note that this is not a racing mini bike, rather a cruising mini bike for around the yard, neighborhood, or swap meet. That being said, once you get used to it, it's a pretty fast mini bike!
    Thanks for Watching!

9:39 Better motocross and street bike grip trick for ya from the year 1980... use women's hair spray, the pump kind. Spray the handlebar grip area and a little on the inside of each grip. When wet, grips slide on better than using compressed air, plus when it dries, the hair spray acts as a glue to hold the grips on.

  • @feeterican
    @feeterican 4 роки тому +1

Another way to put grips on is using hair spray. At the bike shop I worked it we didn't know about the compressed air thing yet so we used Aqua Net. It easily slides on when its wet and after it dries off it gets extremely sticky after about 20 minutes. And the only way to get them back off was to ether cut them or stick a small flat head screw driver underneath the grip and squirt more hair spray in there and work it around till it comes off.

I like when ya think things out like the valve stems on the correct side It sucks when ya don't think things out before hand and have to take things back apart Great job guys on this awesome mini bike 👍✌️

Grip install- use hairspray . They will slide on and when it dries the grips will never rotate on you, when you need to remove them again use more hairspray

Hairspray in the grips is another #protip, it lubes it at first then dries so it doesn't come off.

You have made me think about starting to spray paint again.
I have not spray painted since 1979, but it may be in the muscle memory.
The usual memory has become a bit slippery over the years.

I won't clear over rustoleum rattle can any more - I've been burned too many times. Primer, 3-4 really light coats a few minutes between each, last coat nice and thick - as thick as you are comfortable without getting runs. Done.

Smart to put the gear on even for a "cruise". I am 42 and still have the scar from where I saw my entire kneecap when I was about 8 from riding in shorts and putting my minibike down on pavement.

Pro paint tip, use Gray as a Base, not White. White will lighten your colour a hair.

    Old guy trick,
When painting wheels with tires on them. Let out the air pressure on the tire and break the bead. wrap the entire wheel/tire with a trash bag, use a screwdriver, or wedge tool, to shove the bag into the bead gap.
Inflate the tire some to tighten it up.
Blade cut away the excess trash bag to reveal the wheel.
Paint the wheel as you want.
remove the trash bag and fill up the tire, resealing the bead, once the painted wheel is dry...
Once you figure this technique out it's faster to do then it takes to read this.
    rinse repeat.

Pleeeeeaase! When mounting handle bar grips, just use a tiny squirt of brake-cleaner (or lighter fuel, it's the same) ! It lubes the rubber for about 20 seconds and drys off within the next 30 seconds. Same trick for removing old rubbers: lever in a small screwdriver and splash it and off it comes. No compressed air or soapy water needed and saved a lot of work!
