Hi Jenn. Thanks a lot for the video. I tried clicking on the link in the description for the ctlout video, but it seems unavailable. I would really love to see it...could I have access to it? Thanks a lot!
Yes, but that means you can only use the midi data on that track. If you want to send things from the one patch to multiple tracks, then a separate max patch gives the flexibility for that.
i think only 1 and 2 exist. You can just change the channel number though. So where I have noteout 1, you can create two more (noteout 2 and noteout 3). Then in Ableton, change "All Channels" to just receive on the channel you want.
Where's the problem? Some things you could check: your settings in Ableton allow (enabled to) receive midi data on that port, e.g. IAC Driver or LoopMIDI. Check the track 'midi in' is listening/receiving on that port and channel. Check the track is armed / record enabled. Check your formatting of midi messages in Max.
@@JennKirby Thanks for aswer Jenn. Follow your video end-to-end. The only thing I couldn't do was select with two clicks in noteout "from Max 1". Even using loadmess he does not recognize. And in Ableton midi setup, all ok.
@@JennKirby This is the problem for me too. But in midi setup there is no options or checkboxes. Nothing in the input or output folder. I have never used max for live before, do you know how to get them to turn up? :)
Thank you ! Super well explained. Exactly what I needed 🎉
Thank you very much!
lol i cant just click it and thing pop up. must be something you set up previous;y
go to Max->Options->MIDI Setup and see if from Max 1 and from Max 2 'on' checkboxes are ticked
i actually fond these recently!! that was it haha@@JennKirby
Can you have a max midi FX that receives midi from different channels to modulate visuals? with midi in all midi data is added.
turn on midi mapping and you will see what parameters you can map to. You can map to any of them from your max patch
this is genius. Thank you! 👍

@@JennKirby thank you so much!! ❤❤❤
Is it possible to make it into a MIDI instrument to bypass the MIDI input and channel problem?

@@JennKirby thanks for your reply 💜
Is it possible to create a midi in "from max 3" in Ableton? Because I need 3 different midi channels to be received in Ableton from Max.

Jenn... I love you

Man, you believe I need this exact thing and there's no way I can make it work.
