TON Rocks
Underrated is Carnivore and pre-Bloody Kisses Type O Negative. Such unique mix of hardcore punk and doom metal, with absolutely hilarious lyrics. It was far more interesting than Peter's "goth girl metal" phase, imo.

That's Kenny Hickey's new project, featuring Todd Strange. A powerful lineup. A nostalgic TypeO vibe, but Kenny's voice in that song reminds me a lot of Chris Cornell.

I will never get tired of reactions to Type O from non-Type O fans if only because their reaction to Peter makes me giggle every time. I miss him too, he was a special one 💔
A few other tracks that you have to check out are Black No. 1, Christian Woman, My Girlfriends Girlfriend, and Everything Dies for starters. I will say sadly Peter Steele did pass away, and the band continued to make music, but to me it just was never the same, so I purposely stopped listening to their music for a while, but would replay all of Steele's tracks. My uncle got to meet him once doing security for one of the bands shows, he said he was so polite and nice so were the rest of the band.
Type O Negative died the day Peter died, so all tracks are Steele's tracks....Not sure what other music you're referring to unless you mean Kenny and Johnny still playing in other bands.

No, some of the band members (Johnny & Kenny) went on to start or play with other bands, but Type O did NOT continue after Peter died

I´m totally hyped that you´ve reacted to Type O. There are only a few bands/musicians I continually come back to, Type O is one of them. If you like deep voices Nick Cave is damned good, so long as you can take the depressing lyrics...
Absolute classic. Type O’s run of bloody kisses/October rust/world coming down/life is killing me is one of the best 4 album stretches you will ever find from any band. Highly recommend doing the song anesthesia the next time you do a TON song, there is a great live performance as well. RIP Pete

Yep, absolute icons of Goth rock/metal. When talking with Gen-Z Emos and Goths about 90's Goth culture, Type O Neg are always one of the first examples
Type o Negative are very unique band. They are gothic/doom metal and they have a lot of dark humor and sarcasm in their lyrics...the guys were all genius musicians and had a lot of influence in the industry but they never took themselves seriously...in the back on their Bloody Kisses album they had written "Don't mistake lack of talent for genius" lmao. "Black no 1" and "Christian woman" are some of their more popular songs, "Anesthesia" would be a good start as well. And if you want to hear them live i recommend "Wolf Moon" live.

Some other fun Type O Negative songs to review would be Christian Woman and Black No. 1, for the great music and some humorous lyrics. This was the first song I heard by them, and I loved the blend of the Zakk Wylde/Ozzy guitar with the harmonies and kinda Pink Floyd riff vibes.

You should also check Finnish band HIM. Definitely! Their vocalist Ville Valo has a very beautiful low voice too (actually he really respect Peter Steele). I really recommend Sleepwalking past hope, from their live in 2008. This song shows his low register perfectly!

Peter Steele had one of the lowest and deepest vocals I've ever heard in rock music, the part in "Haunted" gives me chills all the time, check this song especially if you like low vocals

Are there words to describe Peter Steele's voice I don't know I guess I will have to settle for simply amazing otherworldly unique ! I feel like I'm in a deep sleep dream state of mind when I listen to this song and I love it ! I label this as Gothic Metal at its purest form. The music instrumentation sounds alone are amazing. There's a band from finland quite inspired by ToN and the singer sings really low notes too. They're called "Of Blood and Wine" and they just released a new album "Vampyres and other bedtime attractions". Maybe check out something from them
Love this band. This song and Black #1 are two of the best! Another awesome band is Concrete Blonde, their whole album Bloodletting is amazing and "dark and vampiric" like you said about Type O Negative lol!❤

The entire October Rust album is a pretty good goth-erotic aural journey. Love You To Death, Be My Druidess, My Girlfriend's Girlfriend, Wolf Moon, and Haunted, all really good.

Love to see some Type O reactions. The band had a great sense of humor and a lot of their songs reflect it, and obviously their romantic songs are crowd pleasers, but they have some deep dark songs that are amazing and emotional. Definitely check some of those out. White slavery, world coming down, red water, in praise of bacchus.

This song's album is by far Type O's best. What isn't talked about enough is the clear influence of traditional goth/shoegaze a la Cocteau Twins, et al. Their other albums are very good, but October Rust is entirely in a league of its own. I wish they had done more like it.

I'd heard it said in another reaction a year or two back that Peter Steele and Type O Negative were very popular with women and girls who wished that they had a vampire boyfriend. Not really my style, but Peter's voice seems quite unique to me.

Check out anything off life is killing me, World coming down, or their last album dead again. That is their best stuff and is the band going back their roots of their 1st two albums of just gothic metal. The point of this song the album it is on and the follow up album, was gothic vampire romantic stuff. It is musically and lyrically their worst stuff, but also the most famous stuff. Which is still really good, it is just nothing compared to songs like September Sun, Nettie, Anesthesia, dead again, or World coming down.

One of the things I loved about Type O Negative was they wrote about literally whatever. For example the song Death In The Family was about his cat that died. They definitely had their own unique sound.
I saw them 5 times, once ,believe it or not at a roller skating rink in Boise Idaho.
They sounded just as crisp onstage as on their studio recordings.
Nice to see a young person react to such a great band.

I remember hearing Black No. 1 for the first time. Not even sure the full Bloody Kisses album had been released yet. Think it was still only out as a single. It was one of the songs they were playing pre or post a band I was seeing in concert at First Avenue here in Minneapolis. Can't recall what band it was. But, I heard the song and went, 'Who the fuck is this?!' I went over to the board immediately and asked the sound guy who it was. The next day I went out and found the CD single.

RIP Peter...taken too soon😢...that being said I enjoyed the reaction...I first saw them in a bar on Halloween night, Electric Hellfire Club opened for them(think satanic electro)...the sign for occupancies was 139 so nice and cozy...lol...it was life changing...I saw them 2 more times after that...Phil from Small Town Titans has a killer range and a deep voice, and I would recommend you dive deeper into Type O

A buddy of mine knew Peter. He tells us some great stories but the main thing is that he was the sweetest man you could ever meet. Big, scary looking man but would do anything for anyone.

For something TOTALLY different, you should check out his earlier band Carnivore. Many of the same members, but they were part of the NYC hardcore scene then. I had both albums Carnivore released, and I remember the first time I heard Type O. I instantly recognized Peter's voice. There is no mistaking it even when it was a totally different style of music.
Yeah thats how true love feels it has a vampiric almost immortal feel to it. It impowers you to feel like you would rise from the grave to be with that other person its also that much worse when the relationship ends. One of the songs that helped me get thru the break up with my first wife for years i went back and forth over what i could have done differently, until i realized that it wasn't me!!! In the end she didnt want the responsibility of being a wife and mother
