I came here after watching the movie on netflix as 37 year old man who has suffered panic disorder all my life after watching Jessica watson she gives me hope that anything is possible as long as we keep going stay determined and keep on taking challenges in life. ❤❤❤
After watching her film tonight on Netflix JUST WOW! I’m so proud of her, I went through every emotion along with her and her family. What an inspiration she is. My daughter is also called Jessica, must be in the name as my daughter is also a go getter and followed her dream. 🎉❤

Young or old, some people do extraordinary things. In 1953 I had friend & classmate who loved sailing. He was a judge's son and the whole family sailed. Every Monday morning in our high school home room he would regale me with stories of how he spent his weekends sailing on Monterey Bay (California). Sailors are different than most of us. He's gone now but his memory isn't.

This has been my carrot for 14 years but finally it didn't feel safe anymore. So better to finish on time than too late, I am convinced that you have worked hard but have also had wonderful days on all our seas. Take a long rest now and think slowly about the future, You have many many years left to give without taking any risks. I remember watching this back in the day. Fast forward to 2023. This should be shown in schools around Australia for all of the youth to see. Tik tok and instagram are NOT the platforms to make you genuinely great. Hard work and effort whilst remaining humble gets you over the line every time.
I'll do it if I had that experience, a boat and stuff! I kinda feel like I would die. Not a fighter. And my family they wouldnt care. Anyways, i would toally do it but prob not at such a young age! With her having dyslexia I have something called dyscalculia which makes it extreamly hard to read maps and stuff.
I'm just so moved by her determination. The belief, fortitude. She tapped into the essence of mind. To know something so strongly that great odds are overcome and limits are redefined. Potential, no matter how remote is still potential, if it's possible it can be done, w that it's only our self constructed illusionary limits that stop us. But every once in a while someone comes along with a belief that crosses the boundaries of those limits, which ultimately expands all of us.

Truly amazing. In a time when most kids her age are found staring at their phones and posting nonsense this young woman sent it. I heard people call her parents irresponsible but since most parents don’t trust their kids to drive the car to the store these parents ensured their daughter was ready to sail around the globe. I wish I had given my kids that kind of confidence and ability.
Jessica is one of those people who just rise to the top through their own true grit and determination. I don't think money has much to do with it. Sure, it was a help to her mission but I am pretty certain that she would have found a way to get it somehow. Another impressive young woman, to me at any rate, is Greta Thunberg. I appreciate that she can be a very polarising personality and I certainly don't always agree with her positions on things but Hey! she is being heard while very few people know me from a kipper, a situation that I fully expect to continue until my exit, an upcoming event that will pass with little to no comment! 🤣😂

My kids can ski and snowboard things that would scare the hell out of most adults and climb routes that most people would think were impossible. As a parent I feel that gives them confidence and will go a long way to helping them navigate the minutiae our society seems to hold with such high regard. Supporting a child in an endeavor as monumental as sailing around the world takes more than money. It takes courage, not just from the kid who’s doing it but the parents who are willing to stand on shore and watch their child sail over the horizon. The ultimate goal of every parent should be to prepare your children for an exceptional life, not lock them in a suburban home and worry about mean tweets. Most people think the weather is the biggest threat in this kind of endeavor. It’s actually the solitude. Many long distance solo sailors find themselves yearning for some kind of failure simply to give them something important to do. I think this girl’s biggest challenge after this is how she will be able to fit into a society that is so focused on the mundane when she spent so much time dealing with things that actually matter.
