    I started doing my own euro mounts out of necessity a couple of years ago. I found and followed your videos from the beginning and refer back to them often. I now do mounts for family and friends, and everyone is impressed with the finished product! Appreciate what you do. Thanks!

    I've always been interested in "weird" things. I in fact am a strong believer of respecting the dead whether a dead animal you've hunted has it's skull cleaned and properly exposed like a beautiful trophy and memorial. I actually want to be a mortician because of my belief in respecting the dead! I find your videos interesting and oddly satisfying..

    I love your vids I wanted to do taxidermy myself but never could. Now watching u gives me that education I wanted. I hate how restricted UA-cam has gotten. I also watch Dr Matt DvMD from Vet Ranch, Off the Ranch, &Demolition Ranch, they have done the same thing to him. And I just luv the education and personal knowledge u all have. I wish u & ur family the best of fortune n life. Take care and stay strong.

    Best Video on Euro mounts on U Tube...most dont deal with the degreasing process.
    I'm working on beaver skull and know how much oil is in the skull ....will try Acetone , as for the Gas use....was told to use white gas (aka) Coleman fuel.... regular gas has chemicals added that cause problems.... Thanks.... Great Video !

    Another outstanding video.At around 7:20 you are talking about the pig skull. You put it and the color batch chemicals, and brought it all to a boil and then shut it down (burner off). Next you said you would leave it over night in the "hot peroxide". Are you just referring to the passive residual heat of the initial boil that it's in over night or are you actively keeping a heat element (low burner) going under the pot so that it's maintaining a "hot bath" level until the next morning when you rebring it to a boil to rinse and dry. Thanks again for sharing your time and wisdom. God bless ya Brother.

    So I utilized the Aqua Silk with my deer head. Overall everything came out pretty good and nice and white. I will say that one cannot really see how white the head will get until it is removed from the water/peroxide solution. Once I took it out of the pot and allowed to cool the skull just popped. Got a deer skull that a guy let ants eat off the meat. The bone is pretty brown. I first soaked it for several days in water, then boiled in water/oxyclean for about 5 mins. Next I did the boil with your recipe of 40% Developer. It is not real white, so I am going to try and degrease it. Just not sure how to get the deer skull and horns in an air-tight container. Only thing I can think of is one of those XL zip-lock bags like for linen storage. Do you think the acetone will remove the color from the horns?
    Kuddos to Joshua Wells for the acetone idea.

    What’s the best to use on a whitetail. I use the 40 volume salon and for the most part they are white, but after a while they start turning yellow. Just afraid to boil them in something with the antlers under there wouldn’t want to discolor them

  • @Trapshooter37
    @Trapshooter37 6 років тому

    Would you follow the same crieria for a whitetailed deer? YOur older video on whitetailed deer and antelope you had stated 10 minutes once water boiled for these items. I am going to try the aqua Silk tonight and watch it closely. I may use 1 gallon of aqua Silk to 12 gallons of water. I did use the 40volume 1/2 gallon to about 15 gallons of water and it came out pretty white. If i could post picture I would.
    Keep up the great work

    I would suggest when you use acetone, wear gloves that protect you from the acetone as it will do the same to your skin and your bones in your hand. I used acetone years ago when degreasing heavy metal for submarines that needed proper welding and other sensitive areas in a sub. Same gloves or better as what you use for the 27% aqua silk product. I used that in our nice ground pool and one day it splashed on my bare skin. It burned.

    My understanding that when you heat H2O2 that it releases the oxygen molecules, converting the liquid to pure hydrogen. I’m not a chemist, and maybe I’m wrong, but the vapor coming off that should be pure oxygen, plus whatever fat & grease you’re oxidizing with it. I don’t think it’s unsafe to breath the vapor from it.
