I went to see them in 2019, they were of course great, they gave every audience member a metal card sized copy of the constitution. I still have mine in my wallet, we all got some playing cards as well, I had mine signed by Teller after the show, he was so gracious, he took the time to speak to everyone, sign autographs and take pictures. When it was my turn I asked if he was hungry or thirsty or needed anything, he actually was very greatful and said he didn't need anything but Penn might, Penn told us at the beginning of the show that he was sick , since I'm immunosupressed I couldn't get close enough to Penn to speak with him. I had a great time and would definitely recommend it.

The most mind blowing part of this whole episode for me personally was finding out that Teller taught Latin for 6 years, lol. Who would have thought that one of the world's most famous magicians who's most well known trait is that he never, ever talks actually taught other people a language? I have always loved Penn and Teller, and watching this and learning more about them was pretty awesome. I still can't believe that Teller taught Latin for 6 years though, lol.

Teller does talk, just not as part of the act. I remember seeing, I think Bob Costas, interviewing him on some late late show. It was a bit surreal. On the other hand, Harpo never spoke on camera. Except once when given some sort of award (I think), the interviewer asked him for a few words and Harpo said, "HONK!!!'

      (slight spoiler alert:)
For those who haven't seen the woodchipper bit, Penn explains that Teller is going to do the next routine alone, and he will talk us through it. Then the woodchipper comes out, Teller fires it up, and the noise of it drowns out everything he says (IF he actually says anything). It's hilarious.

Oh. My. God. Two of the greatest human beings who have ever lived! Inspiring in every way...this is something we all should aspire to.
Life is so brutal...so boring...so baffling. Guys like Penn and Teller take all of that and show the flip-side, reminding you that every life is the greatest act in the universe, but only some of us know it consistently. Watching these two, I believe many have remembered what they always knew- enjoy your act! Find at least one other person who understands and can teach you.
Every one of us only gets one- in this life at least. 👻

It started off as the punk rock version of magic. Most magicians took themselves seriously, but they didn’t. They took all of the things that they thought were corny, and that sucked about magic at the time, and came up with creative ways to expose it for the crap that it was. This is true performance art.

After, how many seasons of 'Fool Us' being aired, to say these guys changed the nature of magic is an understatement. They reinvented the entire field with duplicitous honesty. The clear cup and balls routine will always be an amazing thing to watch. But I think the coolest thing about these geeky knuckleheads, is that their unconventional style inspires generation after generation of magicians, young and old, to change their perceptions without claiming the supernatural is real.

I know their show on Broadway. I took a first date there, and it turned out to be a last date. It was extremely cold and windy outside in Manhattan. She came dressed in a skirt and an overcoat. Took her to a very expensive restaurant and we had a good meal. The show she said she was very impressed with, I did not get that opinion because she was very hyper and an intense person. We walked outside to get a cab, she slipped on some ice and her skirt went above her head and her coat, and I laughed out loud in front of her, I will never forget that evening. I cherish it in my heart. We never dated again yeah we worked for five years together!!!!!

As a Veteran, it went over very well. My Oath was not to the Flag, nor to any political party, or even any political ideology. My Oath was to the United States Constitution. No more, no less.
To protect it with my life, against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
I will give my life to defend our Constitution.
At the end of that act, the Constitution remains unharmed.

It is truly bizarre to link (seemingly) unrelated memories so many years after the fact. I’m 52 now, and I can remember the tv of my early childhood pretty well. Magic Garden, Zoom, Bob McAllister era Wonderama... but I also remember seeing the Mike Douglas Show, and I do remember the Asparagus Valley Cultural Society. Only now do I know it was Penn and Teller, who I happened upon fairly early in their career as a duo as well, having seen them in their first off Broadway show in Hell’s Kitchen.

Ricky Jay is one of my Favorite Card Magicians. Not because of the Illusion of Magic but because he would explain how the trick is done. He was Proud of the time, work and dedication he gave to perfect his craft of Manipulating Cards.
Even during his Telling you Exactly what he was doing - and you were watching him do it - the "Effect" still seemed Impossible.

+steve nugent Teller is a great, creative magician, Penn is a juggler who graduated at the bottom of his class from the Ringling Brothers' Greatest Show on Earth Clown College ;)
Just kidding, but it is a fact that Penn doesn't know how half their tricks are done, he just knows what he has to do and when, and trusts that Teller takes care of the hard stuff :)

Check out Penn's podcast, Penn's Sunday School. It's great. There is also a podcast festival called Scoop Fest hosted by a sister podcast, Matt and Mattingly's Ice Cream Social, where you get to watch a live recording of Penn's Sunday School, among others.

@@monkeyboysteve3807 Without Penn, Teller would be a moderately successful magician, or a retired Latin teacher. Without Teller Penn would be just another street performer. Together they are one of the historically great acts, in a book where Houdin gets a paragraph and Houdini gets a page, Penn and Teller also get a whole page.
