I can say I was there. Saw Steel Mill there many times.First saw him at D'Scene. Many times at Sunshine In. Also the Student Prince. Always glad to hear him play Oh Mama Why. Miss those days. He always amazed me with his lead guitar playing. That clear Dan Armstrong bass see above in the pictures is now owned by my brother Frank who bought it one night from Steve at the Student Prince. True Story.
I'm listening to his book right now on Audible and can't get enough. I grew up in Jersey in the 70s but was never a Springsteen fan until much later in life. Wasn't old enough to see them then but have a few times since. Once in Paris in 1985 with 100,000 screaming fans at the Parc Passage de la Corneurve (if I spelled that right). The band stayed at the Hotel Le Warwick right off of the Champs de L'yeses where my brother and I would frequent the Chicago Pizza Pie Factory below the hotel. Met one of the Roadies and saw CC getting on the van to go to one of the shows. Wish I could go back to that show.
This MUST be shared! OMFG, he was but a young thing then! WOW. I'm thankful I got his book for Christmas, as I had never heard this part of his history. What a ride. Thank you, Bruce.
I grew up in the 80's listening to bootlegged shows of Bruce my Dads friend would drop off........just thought about it again today, and mentioned to my boys they should check out the early stuff....Thanks For This!
Do you think he'll make it somewhere with this Rock & Roll Music? He should cut his hair and get a job down at the factory. Settle down and make Janey a wife. Father Ray can do the blessed service. Freehold is a great place to raise a family.
Well, saw Steel Mill when the use to play at Monmouth College. I guess 70 - 71. Monmouth use to book some great bands. Then saw him twice down in Seaside Heights, nj. At Fat City with the E Street Band. Early Springsteen was some really good tunes they were still hungry. The crowed would have a great yime dancing and singing. High energy shows. Later i saw him in stadiums and larger venues. Not the same. He became "The Boss". He became the second coming of Woody Guthrie. It was about the Boss not the music.
My god more people should be hearing this and learning about it, wonderful music , love Bruce but robbin thomas brought me here, a Virginia boy he was in the later 70s, sweet Virginia breeze is a damn good song and brite eyes, robbin should have been a bigger deal, no management or promoting
I knew Robin when we when we were in high school in Brevard County Fla. He was in some garage bands that played at Canaveral. His last was with Guys i went to Satellite beach. He went to Eau Galle or Melbourne High Schoolon the mainland. He Surfed with us out on the Cocoa Beach surf spots The had a Band Called transcontinental Mersey Flight and they Rocked. He moved to VA for College. You know the rest of the story
I was there. Drove through a blizzard from Brick. This is the Springsteen I've always loved the best - pure, raw, and with tons of guitar.
I grew up there, saw them open for grand funk at the ocean ice rink
Haaa, so it was you that was seen speeding up Route 35 in the blizzard .You lucky to have seen bruce in this intimate legendary club.

You are living history. What an envy, that time did you imagine Bruce would be a star?
Yes. It's true, but we can enjoy it together now: isn't he generous?
@@carlosdanielerazo1794 Yes I knew he would and he sure did!

Reading his autobiography now and had to try to relive this magic 🌈
Me too!
Saw this band at the Ledge at Rutgers in New Brunswick in 1972. I was blown away. He became famous the next year.
God bless you for sharing 😊❤

I hear a lot of Grand Funk Railroad influence.

Steelmill Played a Hard Rock??
Love this!!! When I hear this it makes just about everything after BTR sound stupid and boring.
YOU Take That BACK!
No video of this era?
Pheraps at The Matrix, Ca. But I never saw one.
😎🙌
Not unusual for early sounds of a group to be less than great. Great things to come for two of the members, but early sound was hot mess.
Bruce Springsteen = Draft dodger
Trump= draft dodger
good, that war was meaningless anyways
