Her schedule is already set, meaning they cant delay anything. She was yet to record the rest of the songs in her upcoming mini album. She's incredible. Also because we know she doesnt want to burden anyone (aka changing schedule) so she chose to power through. I love her 😭
She cancelled 2 scheduled recordings already because she’s too sick that’s why she just pushed through the 3rd one coz she felt bad in cancelling it again. Incredible IU for doing it still. :’(
December was a busy month for her, she's filming the final phase of her upcoming drama, shooting commercials, preparing her album + concert, shooting MVs, recordings.
Her 24 hours is like a week of a normal person 😅
I heard the director she wanted to use had a tight schedule too, and V is on the brink of starting the military service.

Her professionalism is really incredible. I just remember when she told her audience in her Day-2 concert of the Golden Hour. Before she sing the My Sea that she feels terrible in her ears (she had patulous eustachian tube dysfunction like she cant hear well and hear her own voice loudly) before the end of day 1 con because of the hot weather. We thought her ears is already ok. But i guess the weather trigger it. And she still in pain in day 2. And its almost 3 hrs past already when she told that. Imagine how professional she is that no one notice she suffering with her ear problem while shes performing on the stage. And then belting many songs with high notes like good day in that state. Then my sea with another high note again. While Feeling the pain and maybe cant hear well too that time. But she did it flawlessly and people cheered that time. Mad respect to this girl 👏👏👏.
Despite her compromised condition, I think it contributed to the emotional delivery of the song and video. I felt her tiredness and felt it was appropriate for the 2 characters who were on the edge of existence. She put her heart and soul into it!
Exactly my thought! I wouldn't want anyone to get sick, but emotionwise her desperation and exhaustion from the sickness fit the performance for this song really well!
I think the sickness really helped convey the feeling of the songs, desperateness, sad, and even hope through adversity... It's really crazy... This song is immensely sad...
she was filming her drama at the same time and still had to record the rest of the EP before going to the us to film the mv at the start of january... so yeah, she had a REALLY tight schedule oooof
I think part of the reason for the rush to finish the MV was because V only had 1 week left before entering the military. The director's schedule was also packed. I imagine it would have been a nightmare to re-assemble everyone involved if she postponed the shoot. IU rocks!

I agree that more you find out about IU, you just love her even more and there are a lot more you need to know about her since she was voted by Time magazine the most charitable public figure in her age group in the world.
She mentioned in the MV behind the scenes that she had put off the recording twice at that point because she was sick. I guess she just ran out of time and had to do it no matter what.
In addition to everything you mentioned, I’m impressed at the authority IU has over the recording process. Most other groups are driven by the studio engineer but she’s built up so much experience and knows her own ability that she drives. Love to see it.

You can tell she and her engineer have worked together for so long. That workflow has been repeated so many times. Really cool to witness.
It's partly because her agency was established around her as the main artist and she has seniority (is older) over most of the staff. the composer of this song calls IU noona. she wasn't using honorifics with all the staff in the recording video so most likely she is older than all of them. she's also considered a veteran in the Korean music industry.
Iu is just a very workaholic woman. Her schedule always tight tbh. But as Uaena ofc I'm happy getting content. Also she love to put meaning on numbers, so her album released date have special meaning
She has a drama, album, and upcoming concerts. Everything is laid out and cant be delayed. On top of that she has CF and events she needs to attend to.
She is just so professional and indeed incredible human being.

You did it again. as usual your reactions and your vocal analyses keep me on the edge of my seat they're so good!! it makes me want to go back to having vocal lessons, cause i want to test out everything you're talking about hahaha I find IU's songs SOOOO difficult to sing, even though I'm a soprano and it has to do with her perfect placement and breath control since her songs are all very breathy. She's insane!!!! And what you said in the end, well yes! I don't think I can love her any more than i already do, and then she does something else and the feeling just keep on growing. She truly is a precious bead, a gift to us all
IU has been an artist for 16 years, and when she was interviewed for this album, she was able to confidently say, "I won the battle with myself every day," meaning that she is where she is today because she has overcome her circumstances and situations over the years. She said that it would have been best if she could have had a leisurely schedule with plenty of rest, but she had to fit in with the schedule of the M/V director and V, and above all, she didn't want to make her fans wait any longer. From a fan's perspective, I think the best thing to do is to respect her choice and recognize the hard work she put into this album.
The director had to shoot super fast, (he opened a window in his schedule), and V was going to join the army in a week, so it seems like everything had to be finished before that. All these people had to thank IU a lot!

She almost always has a pretty packed schedule but I think in the mv she also said she had already rescheduled three times and really didn’t want to force them to reschedule again?

From what I can gather from all the behind the scenes:
- V was to join the military the week after. He likely only had those 2 days to shoot the video.
- The recording was done the day immediately after the second day of the mv shoot with V. (She got sick on the first day of the mv, this was 2 days after that)
- As people have commented, this month was one of the busiest ever for IU. Likely she had not a single other day she had the possibility to do the recording, without completely messing up the schedule for either her mini album or the drama she was acting in.
I almost teared up when you said that IU was a blessing to her fans 🥺 she is indeed! I have never looked up to someone until I started being her fan. I've been watching your reactions for a long time now and I just realized that I wasn't subscribed. You just gained a new subscriber 💜 I hope everyone who wants to attend her concert will be able to secure their desired seats, including you! I really hope you attend at least one of her concerts. I'm pretty sure by just the way you react to her MVs, IU gained another UAENA 🥺🫶🏻
They were rushing because she was filming a dorama at the same time, so they had to take advantage of the days off from filming that they had. Then to shoot again, and then go to LA to take the photos for the album.

He was so condescending, basically calling her unprofessional just in other words, that dhe doesn't know how to take care of her voice that she didn't warm up etc, like i couldn't finish the video. There are some incredible live singers in korea. Some of them are not well known outside korea. IU is a legend in korea but her style is not that popular in west. I love her voice especially the way she emotes through her songs. Another one I was blown away by was Lee Seung gi . I always thought he was an actor but he is an incredible live singer. then I came to know that Lee Seung gi is incredibly popular in Korea and is known for his live singing.
i love them both!!! i fell in love w seunggi through his dramas. later on i found out hes also a singer, i was incredibly in an awe 😎

She was incredible to push through like this with her extremely busy schedule having caught the flu during the making of the MV and need to get the song released on time. What a fighter! She’s funny, sincere, and very professional with a voice that makes you feel! I listen to her though I’m ARMy and watched the MV for V. I hope the 2 of them do a collab someday 🫶🏼💕

wah! this is a struggle to watch! but I also worked in a production whereas we needed recordings, and all schedules are already set and under-pressure. our talent wasn't necessarily sick, but mostly their voices are a little hoarse due to continuous rehearsals and other media schedules. it's hard but we know that we can't have any more delays or everything will fall-apart!
I was very lucky to be able to watch her sing live on the HEREH tour in Jakarta last April. Her voice was amazing. And when she sang this song, I was crying while holding my lightstick. I love her so much ♥️♥️♥️

this is why i've always had more respect to IU as a vocalist than any other idol. i'm not even a fan, tbh, but its impossible for her not to amaze you. if you listen to this and say she's just okay singer, you're lying. IU also is confident in her voice which i think is her greatest advantage.

I'm really surprised. It's mind-blowing how she's able to hit those notes while sick! It's crazy! Like you said, it's difficult to hit some of those notes while healthy but she's recorded this song when sick.

This video was good for IU's reputation but terrible for EDAM. They now look like chose to harm the artist who bankrolls the whole company. I'm surprised they Okay'd this being released without at least a shot of IU saying it was her choice to keep going ☹
IU is the producer and overall vision of the project, she is also a majority share of EDAM, so she is the boss in charge of her own destiny. The music producers can be seen discouraging her from continuing, but you can also see her determination and direction to the team which is what separates those who went above and beyond what is needed, or the 'normal'. It won't work for everyone, but it is usually those die-hards, who risk it all that make the difference between someone becoming legendary to those who merely did their job.
Although I do agree with you overall, this is too much, especially worried about her massive world tour. Someone needs to take care of her, or at the very least, she needs to learn to prioritize her health more.

When IU sings " 산산히 나를 더 망쳐 ruiner, 너와 슬퍼지고 싶어 my lover" by the end of the song, I love how her voice crack worked in her favour. It made it sound more sad than sick.
