Pantomime 2021 drums and percussion kit run down. Roland drums EZ Drummer, Low Volume Cymbals. 2021

A run down of the gear I’ve just used on a regional pantomime in my area.
In the show we had a few celebrities:
Antony Costa -Blue
Amelle Berrabah - Sugarbabes
Danny Posthill - BGT finalist.
Robbie Dee -CFM radio.
Here is a quick outline:
1. EZ drummer on a Mac
2. Tm6 pro as brain for drums
3. MIDI cable is Roland branded one.
5. Roland pads are: KD140, PD125X (two) and PD105X
6. Cymbals
Zildjian gen 16 buffed bronze 14” hats. 18” crash, 20” ride. (They are quieter than regular cymbals, but actually are louder due to all the tape I’ve put on them.)
Paiste 2002 17” thin crash
Paiste 10” precision splash.
7. FX set up:
Roland TM2 with both inputs split so it takes 4 triggers which are:
2x Roland bt-1
2x KT10
On this set up I play woodblocks,
Sleigh bells, triangle,
Roland tr909 kick snare, hi hat. Plus a super low on the left foot.
Also a Timp (works excellent for timp rolls) and a cross stick sound with a flood of 80’s reverb.
7. I play LP chimes, it’s permanently mic’s up as samples don’t work for this. It’s the single most important FX I’ve ever needed in Panto.
8. Sticks and soft mallets (for cymbal swells.)

How do you get to be a pantomime drummer

Go to your local venue that puts on pantomimes and start asking who puts on the production, then find the MD in the company and pitch him for the job. Or look on line for drummers wanted.
