  • If you're shooting an AR-15 and experiencing several malfunctions, it might not be your AR that's causing the trouble. You might just be in need of a new magazine! Which mag would work best for your AR-15? With so many options, it becomes tough to narrow it down to just one brand. Jarod is here to give you some advice on which mag would be most ideal for your next purchase.

      @lorencioalcaraz2623 lol. A pmag is extremely abrasive on aluminum. Just as, or more, abrasive than a steel mag. They're even more abrasive than aluminum mags. That nylon is PACKED full of glass fibers that are EXTREMELY abrasive. Either way, wear on the lower is MINUSCULE. It is a negligible amount of wear and it is a non-issue, especially in a civilian gun. You're not walking through the desert with a mag in the gun moving around 365 days a year. And if it does wear or because you use it as a rental at a range, you just buy a new $80 lower. The only time you might need to be concerned is with a transferable machine gun or a historic piece. Even then, it's a non issue.

    I started with Lancer when I got into shooting. When I got even more into it, I got PMAGs to replace my stock and thought it was the cool thing. Tabs and all. Ended up back with Lancer because it just works better imo. Sourcing them for $11 a mag helps if you know where to go. Truth be told, the smoke color is great. Like Jarod said, it has bad habits but it definitely helps if you need it. Also, metal feed lips are a lot better for long term storage in my opinion.

      I have 2 20 rounders and they're trash. You want good metal mags, issue mags, get the ones from Okay Industries. Colt mags are a solid choice also, but generally twice the price when you find them. As far as plastic mags, most are trash. You'd have to give me the $12 for a promag to take it, then I'd pawn it off on someone else and keep the $12. You can find gen 2 mags for that price, and they're good. Never an issue. The gen 3 are a little nicer, but not strictly necessary over the gen 2, but can be got on sale for roughly the same price about anywhere. A lot of people swear by Lancer, I have no experience, but they look cheap af so I pass. There's my 2 cents and a nickel more.

    • @dustinpribble1546
      @dustinpribble1546 8 місяців тому

      @wm.riley3 u must have got the only 2 lemons on the market by DuraMag. The DuraMags are twice as thick sheet metal than the Okay industries. I've used hundreds of different DuraMag and haven't had a single stoppage or malfunction. Idk man.... I do use the 30 round not 20 round so maybe that's the issue ur having. I'm not a fan of any plastic mags, the Lancer mags are plastic with metal feel lips but imo thar causes a possible failure point.... the need to b either all metal or all plastic. The only good thing about MagPul is the plastic isn't as hard on ur gear and kit, metal can cut and cause wear points on Cordura and estac inserts

    I bought some 30 round tapco mags for my mini 14 and they work flawlessly, better than the stock ruger 10 round mags. I had bought a few 20 round mags from academy and they had flimsy feed lips that would literally let rounds pop out of the mag in my range bag and they would double feed in the rifle. I took them both back and got my money. I’ve left those tapco mags loaded for years and I truly trust them with my life.

    • @Ogrematic
      @Ogrematic 9 місяців тому

Including some variants that had upwards of 10 light infantry deployments and still fed seamlessly. Both decent options, but I stick by what's never let me down. As opposed to upgrading a function that needs no upgrade.

    But honestly? There are so many good options out there nowadays, whether it's a GI make like the OKAY Surefeeds, various types of Pmags, or the ridiculously expensive mags from European gun manufacturers like FN, HK, etc., where a regular old black FN GI mag could cost $50, or even worse, the SCAR and particularly the HK416/417 mags, which cost(I think?) $60 for 5.56 mags, and $70 for 7.62 mags.

    Find some wholesale ammo bundled with pmags thrown in at a discount.
    Not gonna drop names, but I got a box of 500 Winchester M855, and 10 gen3 pmags for under $350.

    I liked aluminum mags until I bent their feed lips. So I liked windowed pmags until I weighed them and saw they weigh almost as much as steel, cost more than steel, but wont last the long run like steel. So I liked stainless steel duramags until I found out about lancer mags.
    Steel feed lips, polymer body, weight as much as aluminum, and fully transparent. Lancer is what Pmag should have been.
    I don't get why people spend $20 on windowed pmags anymore, they just aren't worth that for a heavier option thats ultimately designed to be disposable.

    Bought a lancer and it’s junk. Fails to cycle next round after shooting. But people seems to say they are great. Wondering if I got a bad one

    Metal HK mags. Yes they are 60.00. But can you put a price on the most important piece of equipment?

    I am a full constitutionalist and 2A supporter, but am just curious on isn’t your guys shop in Washington or something? How do you guys have and or sell some of the guns and mags you
    Do? I know you guys prob have a ffl, class 3 or 7, but the normal citizen buying anything wouldn’t have?
