No, is Soo efficiant, the 4 way high traffic road is BEING bottlenecked.
Fix one traffic problem and the drivers will find a way to get stuck in traffic somewhere else. Because in this world only three things are certain: death, taxes and traffic jams.

There was no traffic problem in the first place. It's more an optical upgrade. The slip lanes are also achievable by using the lane switching tool.
This improved traffic flow so much it fucked the rest of the city. Love it. Now I have an excuse to put them everywhere.

iSilverxX, the only unrealistic part is the huge gap between the pedestrian crossing and the triangle shaped median. I guess that's due to in game limitations. Apart from that I think it's a realistic setup and I am going to do this in my game.

Flowing so well that it caused traffic in another area.
Literally the first thing I saw in the new roundabout was a car clipping through another car right in the middle of the roundabout.

You can create an asset and upload it, then, people who like Toll Boths (destroyed by Traffic manager) can still use them, and don't have to go through the arduous process of building this from scratch each and every time they want a roundabout.
But hey. That's just a split second of logical thinking. :/

I only use those for 4 lane highway endings in industrial districts. also why industry next to downtown? and why on the same highway connection? that's just a little bit unrealistic, and calls for so many troubles
city skylines is an amazaing game but i wish the devs woudl put the Traffic Manger in to the game maybe adapt it and over work it a bit and then integrate it in the game that woudl be so nice

There's nothing to "fix". The game plays fine. All games have mods that streamline and help things out like this. It's not that the game is bugged.
"Fix" is a strong word but a lot of these tools are damn near essential, especially the one to tweak road layouts because the default in-game tool is such trash.

Both of those games have trash road tools so I'm not sure what you're getting at.
People in real life change yours way frecuenly. In your video all cars know where they want to go.
From a transportation engineering perspective, in a real situation the new roundabout would be much more hazardous. Also the skip lanes are ripe for overflow, which leads to increased traffic. Making something more complex does not necessarily make it better. Now if those skip lanes merged into the exits instead of yielding at a right turn it would be much better.
This. I know it's just a video game but the experience would be much better if you would balance functionality and realism... Well, at least for me.
The skip/slip lanes does not yield in this build they merge into their own lane.

You can also use TM:PE to slow the speed limits down prior to the junction. Helps by not getting too many cars bunched up at once when slowing down for the turns.

Slower on the inlets, faster on the outlets, medium in the circle. That works for any interchange.

Quite similar. Best to avoid the slip lane, then delete any left over traffic lights and give the inner circle the priority. Sadly base game even after the "Mass Transit" update still only supports stop signs, try to avoid those. I'd say it is about half as effective but still quicker than the standard one.
Not really that hard. It just might look a bit funky and will take up a lot more space. Fine Roads Anarchy and Move It! allows the more finer controls and smaller scales.

Guys. Don't do it. It's a one way ticket to traffic jam and entire districts dieing out of the blue. And you just can't stop playing. You go to sleep thinking about a new freeway, how to minimize the traffic jam in the sweet residential area, how to make dead people go away and how to not bankrupt. 10/10 would not sleep for a week again

Unmodded, just add a one-way slip lane to your roads before they hit the roundabout. Most common turn is the right turn but in the example it causes conflict with all other vehicles. A dedicated lane that doesn't touch the round about immediately frees up a ton of traffic on the roundabout. This is great for when you have a main road running through a heavy area like an industry zone.
a slip lane for a right turn is the stupidest thing ever. just add more lane arrows for turning and possibly make a six lane roundabout and set lane mathematics to keep the right turn flowing. The best use of a slip lane is to put it at the most trafficked path such as straight across or left turning to reduce the amount of vehicles inside the roundabout
If the goal is to not emulate what was done in the video. I guess that makes sense.
I don't get people say fix the game?
I looked at many cities before, some people have city design beyond redemption with industrial in the middle of the city with two lane road, yes it looks nice but it is not the game you need fixing, it is your city. I have multiple 100K + pop city with 80%-85% traffic flow with no mods, I hate installing mods.
Or they have this highway that looks nice, no cars but their suburb exits onto a two lane road into the industrial zone, some people have really abhorrent planning skills.

Why didnt you use the traffic manger to give vehicles right away on the original roundabout. I dont think you solved any traffic flow issues with your design.

I dont see the point, roundabout traffic is fine, and that roundabout has queues to get off
it has queue to get off because it is pushing more car ( notice how we can see car stopping on the normal roundabout before going out ). It is also more realistic for a big traffic roundabout
The exit queue is due to the external road not being able to handle the traffic that's able to pass through the roundabout. So that queue is not because of the new roundabout, it's because the exit is too small to accommodate the increased traffic flow. Basically, the exit queue is proof that this design is much better.

Because in the editor, i can not use traffic manager to connect lanes... i used it yesterday first time, do you know how it works with Traffic Manager... because to upload it without traffic manager its useless... :/

What I learned from Biffa.
1) You don't need lane connectors on the roundabout.
2) Have people pick a lane coming on
3) People coming on should yield/give way.
4) Only people on the roundabout can go through (if it's busy).

for a non-skyline player i cant see any big difrent in before and after......
The old one would get cars back up to get on, the new one was so good at pushing cars out that it was backed up to get off.
The original version had traffic lights that required cars to queue up before entering the circle. And even when they could enter the circle, they needed to yield to cars already in the circle.
The new version basically does away with the traffic lights. Cars just enter and pass through. In fact, it's so efficient that cars are able to pass through this system faster than the output road can handle, causing the traffic flow to back up.
It went from trying to fill a water bottle up through a straw to trying to fill a water bottle up with a waterfall.
The problem is that there is not enough cars to show its efficicency compared to the old one. The first one in a big enough city would be over crowded and broken during rush hours in morning and evening. That would not happen with the second one.

there is no difference except that you seperate lanes by placing extra streets. looks nice but has nothing to do with efficiency. before has 3 lanes, after has 5-6 lanes, where is the efficiency by doubling lanes?

This is one of the best working roundabouts i ever saw in this game!
I use a modified version of this roundabout for my Highway intercections. With a roundabout instead of the small road the traffic flow is much better.

Whether to get on or to get off, cars are still backing up. And I wonder if the inner highway circle would be any less efficient with just 2 lanes instead of 3? But it's definitely more efficient on the 90° right hand turns.
IRL, American roundabouts work great, until a semi has to use it. Then everyone realizes the roundabout was designed entirely too small.
We have Semis in the UK and Europe - popular UK name Artics (from Articulated Lorry). We manage very well thankyou - the key things being that Artics are allowed for in the design and the drivers are used to the techniques required to use Roundabouts, large or small.
If necessary part or all of the central island is paved and lacks a curb, which allows large vehicles to overhang or drive on that area if they need to. Like this small Roundabout on a road outside where I used to work.

At the time of the photo was taken it was routinely taking large trucks carrying demolition debris. You can do the same thing with the normal roundabout with proper lane management
I have build quite a few in nu new city. The only thing that will cost a lot of time is to draw the lines with the lane connector. For the roundabout itself it's just one build and then use the move it mod. Too bad lane connector cannot be copied...love this tutorial, great work !

What is the last thing that you have abled in traffic manager?
That the cars can cross the emtpy space in the roundabout instantly. So normally the cars would always stop at the roundabout, because an another car is in the highway street of the roundabout. But if you enable this in Traffic Manager, the cars easily drive :)
It basically enables cars to enter a "blocked" intersection. In the vanilla game, cars wait for the intersection to be completely empty. So if you have two cars one behind the other, the second car would wait for the first car to clear the intersection. It would come to a stop while it could have followed the first car without any issues. This option in trafic manager let's cars enter the intersection, empty or not. This causes all of the cars to keep moving instead of stopping, thus making your intersection way more efficient.

actually, only by doing that to the original roundabout will make it like 20% more efficient. separating the lanes gives you another 10%, and the sliplanes don't really do much, but they look cool anyways so why not

it's ridiculous how many mods you need to actually build fully functioning (and good looking) roads in CS
you can skip road anarchy and move it but traffic manager is a must have mod... I played far too long (roughly 40 hours) without it and it's so crazy how shitty the AI merges lanes to a point that 2 lane roads and two lane one way roads were the only thing you could really work with because of how terrible traffic lights work etc.
after watching this I'm definetly getting move it and road anarchy just because it's impossible to build good looking highway exits without it... in vanilla it's like slapping an intersection to a highway instead of an acceleration/deceleration lane or however it's called

Pls don't use this roundabout. This is way to complicated. Build a normal roundabout, set it up correct with TM:PE and may, just maybe use on/off ramps for one side. The lane configuration is an absolute mess.

You made the slip roads curve the wrong way. Also, make your on and off ramps longer and more curved. Cities: Skylines doesn't slow down if the angles are less than 45 degrees. It does slow down if any are greater than 45.

My general problem with traffic stems from AI being dumb as fuck when they all want to take the same route to get to different locations in an area. I typically like to build grid, cause thats the sort of person I am. I usually have a main spine down the middle for heavy traffic with branches off into suburbs that are often inter connected.
Now the thing is, for some reason, they will all obsessed with taking the same intersection on the spine to get to their location even though I've closely taken the time to observe the destination while the traffic is halted and found many should be going on ahead to the next intersection before turning but instead stubbornly congest the same intersection wanting to take a zigzag path instead.
I've even tried various different setups using TM:PE to make the spine a much faster path in hopes they will use it as long as possible but seems to yield very little in terms of results. Adjusting which lane leads to where in an intersection does very little to stop this problem other than keeping the less stupid vehicles from getting caught up in this stupidity.
There is also a lane change issue with the game I have observed where the AI rather than slowly migrating over lanes will make a sharpe 90 degree turn. Not a massive issue if it is a car, they usually only block 1-2 lanes but when something bigger like a truck or bus does it they can end up blocking 4 lanes halting traffic completely.

Roundabouts do not work. I cannot tell you how many times I see them break down when traffic gets even slightly heavy. Once traffics builds even a little bit only one direction takes over and gets through while everyone else sits and waits. It is partially because people simply do not understand them. But mostly it is because once a flow of traffic begins in one direction it is impossible for anyone else to cut in without causing an accident. I have been stuck at a roundabout for what felt like an eternity but if I had entered the flow I was guaranteed to cause and accident so I would be force to just sit there. Then cars would just build up behind me. They are a retarded design.

Well you know you could of made the roundabout (1st one) to be a priority road also you don't need traffic manager: PE to enable or disable traffic lights that feature is in the game since Mass Transit DLC

Nothing beats flyover. I put flyover for big and rushed intersection. Roundabout just for a small intersection.
my city have much intersection, especially larger road. It's imposible to build much like that. Exception for highway to large/avenue road transition, and highway between large/avenue roundabout

You should have either let orange to go straight only or give left lane on left for light purple only.

Looks good, would it not be more efficient when assigning the lanes to have the 2 lanes that join the 3 going to the 2 inside lanes rather than the 2 outer lanes? Then when the 3 lane filters round have the inside lane move out 1, the middle lane move out 1 and take 1 of the exit lanes and have the outer most lane as exclusive exit only? With yours the cars progressively move inwards until they turn off rather than moving outwards until they turn off.
What you are describing is how a roundabout actually is meant to work in real life, moving in a lane towards the centre after you have already started driving in the roundabout is not how you are supposed to drive in a roundabout :S
New to the game but wouldn't it be more flow-efficient to curve the slip lanes directly towards the target road vs. having the slip lanes follow the circular shape of the roundabout? The vehicles do not have to slow down to make turns and they can get off the road sooner if you do it that way.
On the note of having better flow, just from a standpoint as a person that has worked with numerous circular vector fields in my studies (specifically vector calculus), it would be a lot better for the entrances and exits to and from the roundabout to be as tangential to the circular part of the roundabout as possible instead of having them perpendicular to the roundabout.
Uses Mods... I dont wanna play with Mods so ill keep using my own 3 Story roundabout for some more xD
