    Thank you very, very much. This has been, far and away, the best magic loop tutorial I've watched. And, I've watched many.

    The most important thing I heard you say was “do this several times to get used to it.” Learning to do a new knitting thing has always given me that day that I woke up, picked up needles and my hands had finally gotten the message. After real struggles. I have accepted that struggles are just practice. My job is just to practice perfect so my brain gets it right! And don’t quit. Thanks for the patient lesson.

      Absolutely. Last Saturday I finally figured out how to knit and purl continental after nearly a year. It's so much easier. Next I'm going to tackle learning cable stitches

      I agree. This is a wonderful video but I will need many attempts to get the hang of magic loop. Thank you ❤

    I am so happy you are an English knitter. So many Continental folks make socks and small in the round projects so confusing to me. This video makes this technique so easy to understand. I just copied your arm warmers pattern. I like making small winter items in the summer months because they are lightweight and totable. Thank You so much!

    This video is a godsend. Showing how to actually use these. Circular needles is the best video I have ever seen. Keeping the two divided pieces of yarn parallel is genius. I will definitely be subscribing to your channel. I am 60 years old and have just started to knit ❤

    I’ve been knitting 2 at a time on magic loop and I searched high and low before I finally found your lesson about what to do with that last stitch when you’re ready to turn your work,. Phew, I’ve been at a standstill, it’s such an easy thing to do, once you know how. Thank you for including it in your lesson. I love knitting 2 at a time because things come out the same size but I moved to Spain several years ago and lost my knitting partners in the states. We have a 9 hour time difference.

    Thanks so much. I love and appreciate your steady and simplified method of explanation and demonstration. I am an experienced knitter but not ventured into circular needles before. I've just made my first hand warmer and wish i had found you before I started. As the tips and simple handling of the movement of the stitches is great. I've struggled a bit but mastered it, instinctively going with it. And the cast off or bind off was challenging as I had left a stitch behind! exactly as you show, i unpicked and worked out what to do all by myself. but next time i will check in with this video again and follow you, so much easier. Thank you again, I'm all inspired for mitt number 2!

    OMG! All of a sudden I want to make socks. Years ago I took a sock class and almost finished one sock. It’s still on needles somewhere. Thanks for this clear demonstration of magic loop. I think I understand it better. I don’t do well with DPNs.

    When I noticed the pattern, i thought I could knit a simple cast-on and just knit. A little bit of a "learning technique"/"Magic Loop'" until you get going. The Tip is helpful, cast-on w/DPN's instead. The Video is helpful by knitting slowly to grasp the technique. Also, learned a new way of binding-off. I always knit two sts. together to bind-off. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for a well-done "mini lesson"!!!I've been wanting to learn magic loop for some time now.Thanks to you now, I have. When I'm done with your first sleeve, I'll come back and look at how to bind off. I'm doing this first to practice technique before venturing to the socks. Thanks so much!!

    Thank you for the video. How do you avoid the streched lines in the sedes?

    • @ElizabethSmithKnits
      @ElizabethSmithKnits  6 місяців тому

      I try to keep my tension fairly tight at that turning point but if you're noticing ladders on that side, you can try moving things around so that you don't always turn at the same point. You just pull up the loop on the circ at a different spot. I hope that might help!

    • @ElizabethSmithKnits
      @ElizabethSmithKnits  9 місяців тому +1

      If you are getting a gap at the side where you turn the work, you can try a couple of things. Modern Daily Knitting did a good blog post about this topic - you can check it out here: www.moderndailyknitting.com/community/techniques-in-depth-ladders-begone//
      I hope that helps!

    how do you prevent ladders

    • @ElizabethSmithKnits
      @ElizabethSmithKnits  Рік тому +1

      I personally found that with time and practice I didn’t get the ladders as much because I was able to control my tension better at the turning points. I tend to give the working yarn a tug after I knit the first stitch or two (after the turn) and that seems to help. Give that a try and see if it helps!

    Wouldn’t it be much easier to make these using 9 inch circular needles?

    • @ElizabethSmithKnits
      @ElizabethSmithKnits  Рік тому +3

      It’s definitely an option for some! But the very short tips on the 9” circ can sometimes make it uncomfortable and cause hand pain. For me it was uncomfortable, but I know everyone can be different!
