Hmmm Toke that conversation about why you felt shame and Adedamee didn't, very interesting to see how two people can go through same thing and have two different experiences, if we did deeper you would find that people drummed it into Tokes ears growing up that divorce is bad, and leaving her marriage caused her SHAME, SHAME can cause us to see situations differently, SHAME is the reason self harm because they are super conscious of how they will be seen and perceived, my marriage failed is different from I failed at marriage. I hope we can broaden the conversations around SHAME in Nigeria, Mental health issues are real, TRAUMA gives birth to SHAME

True love sometimes can be understanding self love to fulfil your mission on earth instead of hiding the talents because one is not married. Marriage is not truly for everybody and that is why some widows choose not to remarry. Let us also not forget the GOD WORK upon the head of someone like Paul in Corinthians who helped with marital counselling but focused on Gospel teaching without being marrying himself. Not easy bring married while trying to preach the gospel as well.

One thing I’ve learned in my life is that if you’re a critic of other people’s lives and lifestyle choices, or you’re always judgemental, you’d be hard on yourself if you don’t conform to societal expectations. You’ll always believe people are judging you for ”going out of line”. Some times, people no even send you. Infact, they admire your strength and decisions. But you wouldn’t know because you’re seeing yourself through their eyes.
I’ve never been judgy or overly critical of people’s lifestyle choices because I believe there’s no smoke without a fire. Because of this, I don’t think of others when making personal major life decisions.
I’m hopeful that this show will start giving success stories of great relationships, marriages and general successes starting with my all time favs Dami Tokstar😍

What I experienced while growing in my house made me set standards. Today i still feel sorry for my mum because if you ever asked me i don't see her been married. I am glad and happy about what my children are experiencing in my home as they grow. It's not my doings i jst feel Allah compensated for my mums troubles.

Big shout out to Toke for this beautiful interview. What most people don't realize is that the pains relating to failed relationships are not completely one sided. The issues, programming, and values that this present world has infused in this generation makes it really hard for relationships to last long term. Most of us want sincere companionship, sincere ride or die. However, what most people have is just availability based on what can be presently offered. Most men have women stay because of financial control, and these men know that's the only reason why the woman is there.
Sadly, women can't really use finance to control a man in that fashion. That's why it seems worse for women.
In summary, this present world seriously has its values misplaced. That's why from the surface (social media, etc) it looks like the happiest world that has ever been. But in reality it's probably one of the saddest.

Toke I absolutely loved this episode. I mean what’s living without expectations? But again these people prove your theory. Many times you go in with expectations and become a therapist and carry burdens out. It’s actually better to have none that way you can move past it easily
I love both of you so much and I enjoyed watching this. My advise is this, do good so that you may live this is because a lot have lost their humanity in wanting to be trending. God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him and God is not a liar.

Single women are not lonely and I don’t even see you as a lonely person and I think that ideal of what will they think is from your generation and older generation because truth be told I don’t think this generation getting married this days want their body to be scratched, (anyone is ready to leave) except the naive ones. Amazing topic. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I was totally absorbed. I think, Ms Toke, the expectation topic was approached from two different angles.
Ms Dami was talking about everyone having expectations/standards. The truth is you actually have expectations too. It's why you're sceptical and guarding yourself against certain people that don't click. The reason you reject them ahead or refuse to get them to know you is that somewhere, they just don't fit or meet certain standards of yours.
What you say you feel on the other hand is that you don't want to get disappointed and because of that, you don't place people on high pedestals in your heart. So, whatever they do - goes and doesn't surprise you.
However, for anyone to gain entrance into your space, then they actually must meet your standards - which you spoke about at the end. Those standards aren't wrong. And our standard should be based on God's Word and HIS definition of love.
I admire your dad's love for your mum. It's a wonderful thing for anyone to look forward to.
