I feel like A24 is known for good movies in general. But unless there was a needle shown being pushed in somebody's eye I don't think there was a reason looking away from the screen
Watched this tonight. I was NOT expecting the amount of anxiety this film gave me when I walked out.. Such a beautiful, chill inducing film.
Same here! I didn't expect it to be nearly as effective as it is - the trailers don't do it justice.
@ImpressionBlend Exactly. I walked out and every little sound I heard sounded amplified 😅 nerve wracking. Definitely what horror needed.
So happy for you to get a sponser. Hope your channel grows more and more 🎉🙏
Thank you!
It's very well made. Not very scary, but disturbing and damn, the gore... Especially the head scene. Damn.
0:20 "a group of high school friends"
they look like theyre in their 20s and the 1 in pink looks damn near 50 like she could be their mom that waited until after college to have them lmao smh
Another great review. I'm not watching this movie 😂
Been looking forward to this. A24 does indeed know how to pick horror.
They really do! Can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!
she is back !!!!!!!!!!
Sorry my son deleted my comment ı don’t know how ( 4 years old) ı am writing again. “ ıt was a nice video, the movie was very ınteresting, thank you so much, 🙏🩵thank you very much❤️🙏
Haha no worries )) Thank you
I have to agree so far this year, Talk to Me was one of the best ones yet. As someone who is an avid horror movie fan and will leave Shudder TV running 24/7 on my desktop or TV this one is the first horror movie in quite a few years that has actually made my anxiety rise and made me lean over to be closer to the friend who went to see it with me. I do have to agree that A24 knows how to pick horror movies. Right up there with BlumHouse I would if I'm being honest. I highly recommend people who like horror go watch this movie.
Nope I’ve never done any of those things you listed when I was younger 🤷🏽♀️
They don’t look like teens at all, they look college age.
Couldn’t get into this one. I tried.
But found it boring, repetitive, NOT scary and that ending I actually found Offensive??
Eh, it was okay. But honestly it didn’t surprise me. Not a fan of the “lol random LOGAN PAUL 2020 internet” humor. 6/10
Ngl i thought it looked cliche af when i saw the trailer, i was not interested whatsoever, i guess seeing teenagers, parties and a supernatural element is a turn off now lol. But holy shit that was sooo good, the fact that they never really tell what spirit is trying to achive what keeps you guessing the entire time, cuz a lot of things caught me off guard and that's very rare in a horror movie and yes that includes the gory scenes. Ive seen worst, i have a very strong stomach, but the way they did it actually made me cringe a few times 😬
I’d only heard a little about this before seeing the video, but your review put this up to the top of my watchlist!
Definitely worth a watch! I hope you enjoy!
New collab idea: we do the hand seance on camera
Don't threaten me with a good time lol
Excellent review Marianna. Loved it. I’m hearing so many great things about this film. Horror is my favourite genre, so will definitely have to check this one out. Glad you enjoyed the film.👍
It was refreshing to see a horror movie which does not rely on jump scares and/or gore. The movie had smart sctipt and was very well acted. Also I loved the montage sequence.
did you like oppenheimer
Awesome review!! Going to see it on National Cinama Day :)
2022 was so ass for horror films finally 2023 came out with good ones so far
Yes! Awesome review, spot on!
I am so stoked for this! After watching the god awful new insidious , im glad this movie was good ❤.
the marketing team at A24 is wild. You cant tell by the trailer but this film is Australian AF!! The one-liners in the trailer might have you thinking otherwise but once these kids start having full blown conversations then its good-daye mate, throw another shrimp on the barbee crocodile-dundee , hell of a ride.
Seems like just yesterday Smile, Barbarian, Pearl and Black Phone was in the theaters. Maybe 2023 another good year for horror.
Was this directed by Quentin Tarantino?
I don't like horror movies, but the quality is in the metaphor, in the feelings... Dam. I'm going to see this movie. 😅
Have fun hehe
Have you watched The Vanishing?
yes
Thanks for the suggestion, Marianna!!! I have a huge list of movies to watch Santa style. I haven't reviewed on my channel in a while. I'll be back soon (I hope)
The watchlist never gets shorter, only longer. That's the life of a cinephile ))
A24 has been delivering some good flicks and Talk to Me seems to be another one that I’m gonna be watching real soon. I do like your bright yellow hoodie which compliments your red manicured nails 💅😊
Thank you )) Just embracing the color palette over here. Enjoy the movie!
Hi Marianna, have you ever watched: The Number 23 (2007)
We tried to summon Candyman and messed around with Ouija boards, thankfully, none of that worked😂
We tried to communicate with the dead multiple times, they didn't want to talk. What a scam.
Really wasn't that scary...
Not scary...ok movie 😮
Not as scary/creepy as Hereditary or as scary/fun as Barbarian, but not bad. Hope the new Exorcist is REALLY scary!
I absolutely love your UA-cam videos! As a fan, I find them incredibly entertaining and informative. I'm a big fan of your UA-cam videos! Your content is fantastic, and I always look forward to your new uploads, love from South Korean 🇰🇷
Where is Oppenheimer Review? Where?? Where??? Where???😂😂😂
Not not the scariest horror movie I seen so far, but this movie did make me squirm at certain scenes, Marianna. I believe this will be on my Top 10 Best horror films of the year.
i wanna talk to Marianna 😃
I saw this movie at a music festival called lowlands. A horror movie never got more screams and reactions at that festival like talk to me!
If only Mia had just talked to the first dead guy she saw, instead of the fucked-up awful lady she saw second, maybe this all would’ve been avoided.
Actually I guess all souls the hand conjures are “in limbo” and therefore kinda resentful and looking to harm - or at least, desperate. Cue the drug overtones.
And we definitely see Mia work her way up to that.
Can't wait to see this
I'm excited to be scared! (and just plain scared to be scared as well!)
Can you speak on your top ten miniseries you'd recommend to us, please?
All time fan of the channel, really looking forward if you could discuss this topic.
As always, loved your take on Talk to Me!
What about Oppenheimer review? :)
This movie could have been better. The beginning of the movie was awesome.
I'll be watching this soon!
Because I have nobody to talk to...😵💫🥴😁
On paper this movie shouldn't worked at all...but the direction tooked to explore these tropes...felt so real...kudos to these directors...the performances..the practical make-up...all was on their A game
Definitely an original take on the possession trope. Some gnarley injuries, but (for me) definitely not the scariest movie…. 🍿🍿🍿
overrated
My daughter does this shit all the time. I haven't seen the movie, but as always with these 'scary movies', we'll see. It's interesting, at least. I'll watch it obviously.
I never truly got scared but I for sure got disturbed. The lingering shots on the AMAZING makeup held up so well and did a great job of creeping you out. I am for sure going to rewatch this movie
Haha cant wait for this one… it will be good in the posession horror subgenre, but scariest? Naaaaah (i’m too pro for that) 😏
Smile still holds #1 for me but this is probably #3 or #4 since 2020. Gur feeling admittedly, literally walked out the theater ten minutes ago lol
Hey thanks lots of love from india in India it will release on 4th of August I am definitely gonna watch this movie ❤
Thanks for this. I just watched the movie & you literally said what was on my mind the whole time. 😊
Man! Saw it last night. I had a blast! Enjoyed very much.
I sure will watch this one with pleasure, I'm so curious about it. A24 sure is a incredible production company, so many awesome movies, and I love that they produce very diferent kinds of horror.
About possession, what do you think about The excorcist believer? The trailer made me very curious, it could be a good movie.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
While I am not a big fan of possession horror, I am always glad to see indie horror do well at the box office....
I"m hoping it gets to us here in Tbilisi. (Never did get Barbarian. And I stopped regularly streaming. No Blu-ray.) But I am ready. Thanks Marianna!
Aww bummer you didn't get Barbarian though ((
I love talk to me! I just finishing watching it and my god i hope there a part 2 !!!
How does this compare in the echelon of A24's horrors such as The Witch, Hereditary, and Midsommar?
It makes you feel sick like most of those films with the concept of letting gross looking spirits into your body
I'll put it this way, I want to watch it again really soon, I haven't watched midsommar since the theater. I watch hereditary probably once a year, and I can see myself doing the same with this movie.
@@brandon17760 Sounds like the hype is real with this one! Haven't found any bad reviews so far, and all positive reviews. Definitely going to check this out in theater.
My favourite reviewer. If it's good enough for the Marianna then i'm sure there will be something in it for me:)
Thanks for the tip! I’ll wait till it’s streaming.
Marianna, that thumbnail scared the feces out of me😱
Is it available on the OTT platform?
the characters felt like actual teenagers?
too bad they look 25-50 yrs old and probably actually are
0:24 "high school student"
aka woke 35-40 yr old he/she/them/they/it mystery creature lmao
Love A24. This won't be for everyone. A24 is artsy. Count me in because I LOVED Hereditary! Great review!
very nice transition there 😉
I’ve paused it about four times and had to take a break it’s scary asf lmao. It’s gooood tho 😅
Talk about hype!!!
Can't wait to see this!!!
I love horror films, and Am definitely checking this movie out can't wait to see it
Nice! Enjoy!
Would you say this is scarier than Hereditary? My wife is not as much of a horror fan as I am (Midsommar and The Black Phone gave her nightmares), she hasn't watched Hereditary yet but that's the one she's working up to. Wanting to see if I should take her to this or not. Thanks!
Is ANYTHING scarier than "Hereditary", really? ))
I would say this is a good one for her to test her limits, if she's working up to it - it has the drama, it has the scares, and it lingers in your mind. For me it was it was getting up there, even though it's not quite "Hereditary" level.
In answer to your question about doing silly spooky things, I followed a HellHound on the dunes near the beach... it turned out to be a strangely big fox and tricks of the wind making it sound like a howl, but still...
But yeah, sounds like an interesting movie, I might give it a watch.
Listen, if I though I saw a hellhound I would absolutely follow it as well. I mean, come on, wouldn't you want to know??
@@ImpressionBlend I grew up with the Ladybird audiobook cassette of Hound of the Baskervilles when I was way too young, (got to the Sherlock Holmes books later), wore it out too, so, hell yeah!
3:57-4:15
Thank you, Marianna. I get pretty annoyed when horror "experts" try to act like they're smarter than the characters they watch, when what the characters do is usually not too far from what any of us would do in real life. Nobody is immune to poor judgment.
I think people sometimes forget the characters don't know they're in a horror movie, and teens in particular will do whatever their friends are doing to fit in.
@@ImpressionBlend Right, exactly. It's normal human behavior
Eyes - the scariest part of body in horror movies.
Eyes are the window to the soul....
I have tickets for 7:15 showing tonight. Not watching this until I see it. I’m going in so fresh as the buzz on this flick has me psyched!!!
Enjoy! Come back and let me know what you thought!
@@ImpressionBlendOk, wow…this one was such an enjoyable slow burn that then turned the heat way up. I really love when a movie keeps the creepiness on the screen for just a little longer. The performances were great…especially the young boy. My God! Very well shot, the sound was stellar and what a dreadful mood throughout- so effective. I can absolutely see why A24 put their name on this. It was a gem and what an ending! Reminded me of The Others. Loved it!
I’m gonna go see it tonight. Thanks for the great review.
Hope you enjoy it!
Cant wait to see it on Monday! So happy for the Racka Racka guys
Awesome! Have fun 😈
I'm going to see it tonight. I'm excited to see how it goes.
Have fun!
Where it is released??
In theatres this weekend!
I don’t understand why force people to watch this in theaters, I enjoy watching horror at home I don’t want to wait 3 months now 😭
Nobody is "forcing" you to do anything, but movies aren't made for free and unless they make money to pay people they're not going to be able to make movies.
@@ImpressionBlend it is forcing if you give one and only option, that’s called forcing. And we all know how movies make profit, they can still charge double online and make more
@@levlev25 the point is that you don’t HAVE to watch the movie, nobody is sitting there and making you go to the theatre. You have the option of waiting for VoD or streaming.
@@ImpressionBlend like I said I want to watch the movie therefore I’m being forced to go to the theater if I want to watch it.
People with foot fetishes will love this movie.
Did you see Barbie and openheimer ?
Racka Racka!
Yup! They killed it
The movie sucks so bad
Everything isn't that unpredictable.
Almost fell asleep throughout lmao 😂
A24 really needs to step up.
Shit ain't looking good
To each their own.
@@EamonKelly
If you watched a lot of horror movies like 20+ more in your life then you watch this, you'll see that this movie isn't that scary or creepy at all.
You can sit in the dark and watch it throughout with no problem because you knew you saw better horror movies than this one before
@@norpriest521 Again, to each their own.
