Not sure if it counts as horror or sci fi but would definitely add Vivarium to this list. It is a bit like a black mirror episode but I think it's massively underrated with an amazing performance from Imogen Poots. It also has one of the creepiest kids you will ever see in any movie!
I have to agree with you on Quija Origin of evil it's definitely underrated it's definitely an improvement over the first one and has some of the best creepy moment that's still haunts me till to this day everytime I rewatch it
Horror have been so horribly disappointing lately, ever since the pandemic 😷. The last great one was 2020’s “THE INVISIBLE MAN.” The WITCH is another one. And the recent “NO ONE CAN SAVE YOU,” is excellent as well.
"Pulse" has a scene in it, in a basement i think, when an entity is aproaching someone, with some.... Unnatural movements, let's say, that is still one of the scariest scenes I've ever seen.
You sold me on all of these!! I made a list lady, handwritten so its serious!! This is the second video of yours im watching. The first was your great review of Poor Things and i have to say i agreed on everything you said! I trust you!!❤
Always a bliss seeing you, Miss Neal! Thanks for these recommendations. Origin of Evil is an underated gem. I added May and Triangle on Tubi. Happy Spooky Season! 😊❤
Thanks !I certainly got a few tips for films that I havent seen :) I recommend ....The Hills run Red...Freaky....All Hallows Eve.. Terrifier 1 & 2. ( Im amazed how many people that have never heard of Terrifier...Art the Clown is my favourite Horror antagonist . Terrifier 3, is to be released next October )
Great review, Marianna! There are 2 or 3 I'll definitely be checking out. My underrated sci-fi pick is "The History of Future Folk" (2012). Was streaming on Netflix; hopefully will be back soon.
I just found you while looking for movies to watch before we all die in a couple of months. You're cute, too. Liked, and subbed for the list, and your devious smile. As for Triangle; please allow me: I have watched it 3 times, and had 3 different reactions. So it is the most infuriating Thriller of this Century--I'll watch it again with you, too; glad it was on your list.
It is an older movie called The HIdden. A great combination of horror and humor. Starred Kyle McLaughlin and Michael Nouri who both became bigger stars later. Released in 1987 but holds up well even now. Another older movie worth a watch is Altered States with William Hurt and Blair Brown.
Some great recommendations there and a couple I haven’t seen yet, namely Incantation and Lake Mungo, now both on my to watch list 👍. I absolutely love May and Triangle both are definite must see films. I would also recommend Hell House LLC and Yellow Brick Road. Be interesting to hear your thoughts on When Evil Lurks (2023) I personally think it’s taken possession horror to the next level, loved it. All the best
Triangle is a great movie, I watched it going in blind, and I'm very happy I did. I remember seeing May in the theater, and I left in complete shock. I was like...what did I just watch?
I don't know if this has been mentioned but a film that seems underrated to me is Bone Tomahawk (2015) by S. Craig Zahler with Kurt Russell and Patrick Wilson! I think it's worth a look 🙏
I just watched Triangle this year and it IMMEDIATELY became a new favorite! I think the problem was when it came out, it was marketed to hide the 'thing' that happens in it, which is good, but that just makes it look like a slasher on a boat. It's WAY MORE than that. Within a day I rewatched it! And I literally wrote in my letterboxd review that Melissa George is an underrated scream queen with this, Mulholland Dr., Turistas (not good, but she's good in it). Also, I'm always banging the drum for May! Wonderful horror film that looks and feels like a drama. I'm going to recommend Borgman, a Dutch film that is also hard to describe without spoiling. It's about a homeless man who finds his way into the house of a dysfunctional family, and his presence begins to bring out the worst in everyone. It's a strange watch because it doesn't spoon-feed anything to you; you just watch these people acting in increasingly strange ways with no indication that anything is ever wrong. It's also darkly funny and almost whimsical at times. And there's an image (involving a flowerpot) that is so haunting it's stayed with me ever since. And as a less horror, more psychological pick, I watched David Cronenberg's Spider for the first time. It's a brilliantly acted psychological mystery about a man living in a halfway house for the mentally ill, using his time to try to piece together a trauma from his past, which literally unfolds in front of his eyes. It's a very different Cronenberg film, but I found it absolutely riveting and devastating. Definitely a twisted character study, like May.
One of the most underated movie is older The Cleansing Hour that's waaaay badder than this current Late Night With The Devil - and on essentially the same subject. Don't know what the big deal is with Late Night.
I enjoyed the fact that they made it so it didn't feel like an "Us vs Them," film. I even liked the idea of that one town keeping out of the whole thing. It kept them safe. If someone is disappointed because their political point of view wasn't shown in the film, they should watch THE HUNT. It's a fun popcorn movie and will satisfy that desire.
Pulse/Cairo is still, after a decade since my first watch, a movie I've got still to digest and which still gives me mixed feelings. But the woman in black is an absolute gem.
I can tell you of a different kind of demon possession movie. It's called "The possession of Michael King". Doesn't do the same old things that the other possession movies do. Check it out. 😊
I've seen Triangle like a decade ago, and I remember that I was pretty desappointed by it, but since my tastes in movies quite changed, I may give it another try, even tho I remember perfectly the ending. Thank you for all these recommandations, there are some that I haven't seen, and I would happily do so as soon as I can :)
Marianna, have you seen the black and white "November" ? This is an Estonian horror movie based partially on folklore of the area. I honestly don't know how to feel about it.
Tubi is a very underrated platform to watch some great spooky 👻 movies this Halloween 🎃 season. Btw, I didn’t expect a video from you today. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant surprise from you 😊 Can’t wait for your The Exorcist Believer reaction and review
I agree! They have some gems you can't find anywhere else and for a free platform the ads are very minimal. Seeing "The Exorcist: Believer" on Tuesday, will report back once the embargo lifts ))
Before clicking on this video, I was certain I've probably seen every single movie on this list. But nope... The Lure showed up. I dont know how I missed it, but that has to change.
I saw a very good horror movie on You Tube with the title ;They will not let you leave;.And The exorcism of Emely Rose is one of the best horror movies ever .
Great video, I love this time of year and really look forward to your spooky-themed videos. It’s like when I was a kid staying up way past my bedtime to watch Elvira host those epic B-movie horror-a-thons. Your sponsor’s food reminded me of astronaut rations the it was named and packaged, but it appears to morph into a pretty good looking meal. Ok, so I’ve seen about half the films you mentioned and I liked all of them but one (which I didn’t hate, I just had higher hopes for it. The rest are waiting to be consumed not by a hungry mermaid or monster, but by me this week. Thanks for the recommendations! I watched a cool documentary about folk horror movies a few weeks ago you’ve probably seen… It’s called “Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror”, it’s 3 interesting hours long, and it’s currently streaming on Prime Video and Shudder. Possibly elsewhere. Check it out if you have time! Happy Halloween 🎃 if you don’t make any videos before then - but please make some! It’s the most magical time of the year (Autumn and Winter) and we demand content 🧟♂️ ))
Hooray for Autumn. I felt the air turn a couple days ago. It had a bite; it was full of old possibilities, of beautiful sorrow, of coffee and turning leaves.
Great list. I've seen them all except The Lure. I've come across but have been unwilling to try - yet. Lake Mungo and The Devi's Candy should be considered classics by now, criminally underrated. May was also a fun, quirky find. A young Anna Farris is the friend in it. I'd add Starry Eyes and A Horrible Way To Die as hidden gems horror fans should check out.
Fantastic video and suggestions! Adding all I haven’t seen (which is almost all) to the watchlist. My personal favorites from your list that I’ve actually seen are Pulse (and the shout-out to Cure) and Lake Mungo-yes, everyone should see those. The only two suggestions coming to mind are by filmmaker S. Craig Zahler: Bone Tomahawk, and (a kind of horror) Brawl in Cell Block 99
Thank you for recommending Triangle, Pulse and Lake Mungo. I've been trying to "sell" these every time I'm talking to other film fans. 😊 Especially Triangle. ❤️
@@ImpressionBlend Idk if these are currently on stream, but I can recommend "The eyes of my mother" and "Hounds of love" and "Wolf Creek 1+2". By the way.. Have you ever seen "The Collector"?
Oddly enough, I've never heard of Triangle ... but I used to work on a cruise ship and once you've worked on a cruise ship, a masked serial killer trying to chase you around an iron maze is just another Tuesday. Thanks for the excellent recs!!
The Lure is also my kind of weird, and The Devil's Candy definitely deserves more love. Not a fun film by any stretch of the imagination, but Kotoko by Shinya Tsukamoto is probably the most insane woman unraveling film I've ever seen, not for the faint of heart.
Great recommendations! Kiyoshi Kurosawa is one of my favorite horror directors, and I absolutely love Pulse so thanks for mentioning it! Lake Mungo has been on my watchlist forever, so I think I’ll finally give it a watch this October
Incantation made me feel covered in evil so much I felt I needed a shower. I’m super jaded with horror movies, but this movie scared the crap out of me.
Ginger Snaps. It's in my top-5 movies ever, not just horrors. It's just perfect from start to finish and often overlooked. Atmosphere, performances, story, even colors and costumes - everything is just spot-on ❤
Not sure if you heard of this one, but I'd label 1989's Society as a under recommended horror movie. Honestly the only thing I can say about this movie is that the less you know the better (Do not watch the trailer, it spoils everything).
I found your channel after your rant on how bad the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot was and how GOD AWFUL Halloween Ends was. I thought Steven Seagal wrote that shit because of how dogshit it was. I just gotta say LOVE YOUR PERSONALITY and your style. You kick ass, I enjoy the content you provide.
Pulse. That scene where the ghostly woman walks towards the camer, that wierd stumble bit. i'll never forget how my entire body went ice cold when i first saw that. i'd never felt fear like that from a movie ever, and hope never to again. I almost got it from seeing it in this video but it wasn't as bad. i praise it though, damn good horror
May is def a weird one I stumbled on but a memorable one for sure. Also enjoyed pulse , incantation, devils candy. Watched triangle after a possessedbyhorror rec and it’s a good one ! Pretty solid list here !
Lake Mungo is kinda great. The Lure is amazing, and May is mandatory horror. I think Ive seen Triangle, but I dont remember it very well. Watch The Lure for fucks sake! Its something else.
Absolutely incredible video Marianna. Loved it. Awesome recommendations as well. The only one I’ve seen here is Lake Mungo, which was absolutely fantastic. I loved it. Really want to check out The Last Exorcism, and May. Heard great things about those films. Pulse sounds really good as well.👍
I've been seeing a bit of buzz around The Devil's Candy, I'll be checking that out. From the clips shown, it might pair well with Bliss (2019), which is currently streaming on tubi and prime, as a double feature.
Thank you! from another metalhead 🤘I had failed to get into The Devil’s Candy on a previous attempt, but based on your non-spoiler review I just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Devil’s Candy is…sweet. 🍭

sadly , shudder & tubi is unavailable in Singapore 😭
Hey marriana honorable mention for a underrated horror film is Clive Barker's nightbreed. The director's cut not the theatrical cut.
Not sure if it counts as horror or sci fi but would definitely add Vivarium to this list. It is a bit like a black mirror episode but I think it's massively underrated with an amazing performance from Imogen Poots. It also has one of the creepiest kids you will ever see in any movie!
Love Triangle. Found it back when video rental was still a thing and until now it's among my favorite horror flicks.
Randomly found it on streaming a few years ago and was shocked barely anyone talks about it. Such an cool story!
One of the things I like about it is that the cast is Australian but everyone’s playing American. So it feels off from the beginning.
Can you tell us the release year? I can't seem to find it
@@eusou0 2009
A Tale of Two Sisters (but I figure you probably know about this one already).
I have to agree with you on Quija Origin of evil it's definitely underrated it's definitely an improvement over the first one and has some of the best creepy moment that's still haunts me till to this day everytime I rewatch it
In the clip, My favorite is TRIANGLE
Thanks for including an Indonesian movie! my other indonesian horror recommendations are;
Satan Slaves (also from joko anwar)
The Womb
Qodrat
Horror have been so horribly disappointing lately, ever since the pandemic 😷.
The last great one was 2020’s “THE INVISIBLE MAN.”

May is one of my fave horrors of all time
Always a bliss seeing you, Miss Neal! Thanks for these recommendations. Origin of Evil is an underated gem. I added May and Triangle on Tubi.
Happy Spooky Season! 😊❤
Happy Spooky Season to you too!
Triangle more of a mystery than a horror.
I also really enjoyed Paul Verhoeven’s recent film “BENEDETTA.” A beautifully told love story.
Saint Maud! Though probably more psychological. Disturbs me to this day......
Thanks !I certainly got a few tips for films that I havent seen :)
I recommend ....The Hills run Red...Freaky....All Hallows Eve.. Terrifier 1 & 2. ( Im amazed how many people that have never heard of Terrifier...Art the Clown is my favourite Horror antagonist . Terrifier 3, is to be released next October )
Triangle 2009. Such a great film, I've been telling all my friends and family about this film.
Loved this! Great picks. I put Triangle on an underrated slashers list I did earlier this year. It’s really great. Happy Halloween!
Thank you, Matt! The world needs to know about "Triangle", genuinely one of the best slashers out there. Happy Halloween to you as well!
I hadn't seen any of the films on this list, but after watching Triangle, which was excellent, I'm definitely checking out the rest!
Saw Triangle a couple of years ago and always felt it was underrated. Another recommendation would be You're Next.
August Underground is incredible, if it's available for you guys wherever you live.
Great review, Marianna! There are 2 or 3 I'll definitely be checking out. My underrated sci-fi pick is "The History of Future Folk" (2012). Was streaming on Netflix; hopefully will be back soon.
Ooo underrated sci-fi? I'm here for it, will keep an eye out

My halloween suggestions this year :
Raw
Nightbreed
Re-Animator
Cube
Dread (2009)
American Mary
Pathology
The smooth intro from talking about hungry mermaids right into your sponsee was smoooooooth as silk. Nice work.
Thank you ))
Love Triangle!
FACTOR_ is here to add more plastic to our landfills. LOL. Just messin' with you.
It is an older movie called The HIdden. A great combination of horror and humor. Starred Kyle McLaughlin and Michael Nouri who both became bigger stars later. Released in 1987 but holds up well even now. Another older movie worth a watch is Altered States with William Hurt and Blair Brown.
Marianna, speaking of fellow metalheads, give Deathgasm a watch if you haven't already, I think you'll enjoy it.
this is a good list...lake mungo is so creepy...with such a low bedget...the approach was genius

Asylum, Amicus productions (1973)
⭐ Robert Powell.
Christopher Smith - the writer and director of triangle -- has a lot of REALLY amazing movies. All of his are bangers.
Pulse/Cairo is still, after a decade since my first watch, a movie I've got still to digest and which still gives me mixed feelings. But the woman in black is an absolute gem.
I liked Triangle. It was sort of like a Twilight Zone mystery. Also, an Indy Australian creature feature, Rogue and Indy Canadian film, Cube.
I can tell you of a different kind of demon possession movie. It's called "The possession of Michael King". Doesn't do the same old things that the other possession movies do. Check it out. 😊

Why are these terribly underrated? The answer is in the question. Just kidding! Well, not about Lake Mungo. 😁
May is a very fun movie and the lead actress does an amazing job - I would also put The Blob remake and Session 9 on this list as well 😎
Tubi is a very underrated platform to watch some great spooky 👻 movies this Halloween 🎃 season.

Yesssss! Success )))
Great list! I love all but one of these movies, because I haven't seen Impetigore. It's going on my watch list!
Found The Red Nightmare, anthology movie on Tubi
I saw a very good horror movie on You Tube with the title ;They will not let you leave;.And The exorcism of Emely Rose is one of the best horror movies ever .
How is the twist in triangle amazing it's just another she is the killer and they are stuck in a never ending loop type. Films
Session 9. Great psychological/slasher.

Trying to figure out the logistics of just how they made Triangle makes me question my own intelligence. Magnificent movie
Lol... I can only be scared by culturally relevant movies

Great list! For underrated SC gems would recommend Sleep Dealer (2008).
Haven’t heard of that one! Thanks!
Asia makes some damn good horror films. They have been the gold standard for years now
Interesting list! Lake Mungo was well made.
Thank you for recommending Triangle, Pulse and Lake Mungo. I've been trying to "sell" these every time I'm talking to other film fans. 😊 Especially Triangle. ❤️
“Triangle” and “Lake Mungo” are my favorite horror movies to recommend - super underrated and in 99% of cases people end up loving them
@@ImpressionBlend Idk if these are currently on stream, but I can recommend "The eyes of my mother" and "Hounds of love" and "Wolf Creek 1+2".

"Hounds of Love" and "Wolf Creek" are messed up, and definitely under-appreciated! Haven't seen the other two, will check them out, thanks!
I'm sure that you'll like both of them. 😊 Two very opposite spectrums of horror.
Oddly enough, I've never heard of Triangle ... but I used to work on a cruise ship and once you've worked on a cruise ship, a masked serial killer trying to chase you around an iron maze is just another Tuesday. Thanks for the excellent recs!!
Indonesian horror films are top tier. dey cook horrors well af
The devil's candy is a masterpiece!!!
Thanks. Do you have a horror must watch list?
Great to see some actual interesting movies in this kind of list. When looking for horror reccommendations, your channel is still the best.
The Lure is also my kind of weird, and The Devil's Candy definitely deserves more love. Not a fun film by any stretch of the imagination, but Kotoko by Shinya Tsukamoto is probably the most insane woman unraveling film I've ever seen, not for the faint of heart.
Adding to my watchlist! Thanks for the recommendation!
Triangle is an incredible movie!
Triangle was supertof!
The Lady In White is one definitely to add here.
I thought Lake Mungo was so lame.
Are you lip synching? Getting some Britney Spears vibes from this channel.
Lip-syncing to what?? What a bizarre comment lol
Never heard of May. Thnx.
The factor75 code doesn't work for me :(. It says Invalid Code!
Should work, but if you're having issues - just use the link in the description, it gives the same 50% off discount

That moves a trip!
A little film called “Primer” 😉
I loved TRIANGLE!
Incantation made me feel covered in evil so much I felt I needed a shower. I’m super jaded with horror movies, but this movie scared the crap out of me.
So true! I felt the same way, that movie messed with me
May is marvellous.
Hell yeah to Impetigore. Good stuff.
Really good list of actual under the radar films! Good job :)
Cure is a masterpiece.
Thoughts on Crimson Peak? It’s on Netflix and it’s been on my watchlist forever.
It is okay
Pulse is on tubi as well
I hate triangle xD
Ginger Snaps. It's in my top-5 movies ever, not just horrors. It's just perfect from start to finish and often overlooked. Atmosphere, performances, story, even colors and costumes - everything is just spot-on ❤
"Ginger Snaps" is awesome, I completely agree. It really surprised me.
Have you seen American Mary? It's the same actress, also a great flick.

I love the Lure. Picked up the Criterion. SPIDERGEEK recommended it way back and so glad as I had never heard of it.
How about audition? Or is that not underrated?
I feel like people generally know about that one - it seems to be one of the first things that comes to mind with Japanese horror
I forgot about Triangle! Watched it randomly on cable years ago when it first came out. Definitely worth checking out if you like twisty horror.
