Personally my fave line in this video is when Erik said “help out a friend”. Because we can all see you guys are all friends first and co workers second. That’s tough to find these days. Thumbs up
Arlos's and Jan's home is at the very least amazing. I'm pretty sure Arlo's dandruff has more creativity and skill than I ever will. Many thanks for making this video, and good luck on the drywall install.
If I had only a tenth of Arlo's talent......... That little house is amazing! I love that fake door corner, Genius! Not to mention a dozen other things!
Arlo's house is probably the interesting house I’ve ever seen. It’s nice to get to know each person in these type videos. I am inspired by the work you guys do, and really enjoy your videos, but getting to know you a little better keeps me connected to your channel. Thanks…..really liked this video!
I cussed that button on the top of ball caps for years until I figured out that nothing bad happens when you take the D... thing off. It has truly preserved what little brains I have left. GREAT WORK - PERKINS TEAM
Man, I watch all the videos I can from you all but rarely comment cause I watch it on my TV. But I loved this one, both watching you work outside of your comfort zone, and also to see Arlo (the wizard) working his magic. Keep up the great work.
The trick to full-length sheets is that somebody must go high while the other end goes low. Much easier to swing a sheet into position that way, so you're not banging the ends on the opposing walls.
Cool home he has! Not a "tiny house" but a reasonable house that I think more people should consider. Houses like this allow you to do thing like put your money into the quality rather than quantity. Budget can go to super-insulating the house which means less energy to heat or cool. Or it can go to better windows, or even finishes, appliances and furniture. Cozy looking home!
Make the Potlight location marks on the floor install the drywall then cut the holes using the nipple / hole saw/ laser , stick your hand and grab the wire. Fastest way of doing Potlights
Thank you for the tour of Arlo and Jan's little cottage. The man is brilliant. I wanted to see that picture of he and Jan for a little longer. I'm glad you guys were able to help him with the dry wall.
Arlo is the kind of old school legend that could hear what you're doing wrong whilst on the other side of the property. Those kind of blokes are the true national treasures.
The biggest pro tip for drywall is perfect 90 tape, it's expensive, but your joints will be straight, a novice can use it an you can do two coats at once. Fiberglass tape for the butts and long joints.
The ceiling is not hung first so that the walls can help support it. If that were the case then why wouldn't the whole center fall down. It's hung first so you can butt the walls tight to it to make a cleaner corner instead of trying to cut the ceiling to fit against the walls.
Canless cans are the way to go, thats all we typically use. It’s all plug and play. Great job as usual gentleman. FYI, I got a quote for an all black Anderson window package for a house remodel/addition we’re doing in July. Lead time was 10 months. We went with Pella, 12 weeks. Fingers crossed. So don’t feel bad, you’re not the only one!
This was a real treat to have a tour .... Thank you Arlo and PBB and R&J .... it's always inspiring to be driven around on your days while I drink coffee in front of an illuminated screen and live vicariously thru the vids. Has Jaime ever used that word yet ... "vicariously". I hope this week is perfect for all of you.
Hey there, still reading all the comments? Just wanted to thank you for your videos. Am always looking forward to the next one. Watched every one since the house start to finish series. I am from Europe and not even remotely a builder. But your ingenuity and fun attitude just got me hooked.
The creativity of Arlo and Jan's home is astonishing! I know you guys must be thrilled to have him and all of his experience on your team. Great Video.
Arlo's old house was amazing and so cozy. I already fell in love when I saw it outside and it was even better inside! Please make tour about the new house also when it's ready!
Canless can lights dont need the wire fed through the drywall. Simply note where it is drill 4 inch hole and reach in to grab the wire when installing the lights.
Grandma's house had the floor to ceiling stove pipe. It was right at the top of the stairs. You had to step around it and over a sill to get into one bedroom. When it was real cold and the coal was stoked it would glow red/orange. You learned real quick as a child to respect the pipe. The better trap was at my great aunts house. They had one of those floor furnaces. It was between the dining room and living room. Heavy steel grate in floor. That thing would always surprise me in winter with a bite at my feet.
In my 41st year in industry. Never heard or seen a butt lock joint to recess tape and mud. Nothing worse than have to spread a button joint 18-20 inches wide in order to hide the joint. Great tip.
Great show guys. Nice to see Arlo and Jan's new house in the works. They are lovely. Cheers to the the grunts stepping outside of their comfort zone to do the drywall. You all did a great job. Looking forward to the Johno home episode. Interested to see where he hangs his surf board.
Arlo's knowledge and ingenuity are admirable, just as his positive attitude!
Arlo needs his own channel where he can record ALL his tips and creative building ideas!
I don’t think y’all have time to read comments

21:48 the way Arlo point the vent using measuring tape was so awesome
Arlos's and Jan's home is at the very least amazing. I'm pretty sure Arlo's dandruff has more creativity and skill than I ever will. Many thanks for making this video, and good luck on the drywall install.

If I had only a tenth of Arlo's talent.........
That little house is amazing! I love that fake door corner, Genius! Not to mention a dozen other things!

I cussed that button on the top of ball caps for years until I figured out that nothing bad happens when you take the D... thing off. It has truly preserved what little brains I have left. GREAT WORK - PERKINS TEAM
The features are Arlo-tactic. Putting big stretch on the rotted trim was hilarious!
Wish I'd found a crew like you guys 30 years ago. I'd still be doing it... like Arlo!

Man, I watch all the videos I can from you all but rarely comment cause I watch it on my TV. But I loved this one, both watching you work outside of your comfort zone, and also to see Arlo (the wizard) working his magic. Keep up the great work.
Next time...leave the wire in the ceiling. Once up, use a 4 and 1/8 hole saw, drill the hole, pull the wires down.
Great work!!
Nice to see some Pro Bono work being done for Arlo, the brains and muscle of the team.
The trick to full-length sheets is that somebody must go high while the other end goes low. Much easier to swing a sheet into position that way, so you're not banging the ends on the opposing walls.
Arlo and Jan are so cool. Thanks for sharing and giving a tour of the cottage.
Arlo's work is amazing!! I almost spit my tea when I saw him young with that much hair lol 4:29

Arlo is the kind of old school legend that could hear what you're doing wrong whilst on the other side of the property.
Those kind of blokes are the true national treasures.
Arlo's house is art!

So, the secret life of Arlo. Now more of that would make a great video. And what about that boat? We need more.
Coolest house ever built. Arlo is living his best life.
Gotta love Arlo! What a Master! His "old house" is so nice, who wouldn't want to live there??
I laughed to tears watching Arlo use the tape measure as a point 20 feet up! You guys are hilarious.

Welcome back, Arlo! My neck was hurting just watching you guys hang the ceiling
Arlos place looks amazing.
Would like a video of the finished product
Pro tip -cut those long sheets in half except for the front paper. Fold in half, put in room and unfold.
Leaving that gap for the drywall to go to the floor above the garage was slick!
Arlo's house is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Great video, always love seeing more of Arlo’s own pro tips. Hopefully we’ll see a series when he builds his new shop!
Wow... Arlo such a legend
That was such a wholesome and positive video. Even his house has a positive vibe :) Go Arlo!
This is honestly one of the best video's on UA-cam. Arlo you're a true genius. 👍
Arlos home is a dream of mine. Beautiful work!!
The canless can light is called an led downlight in Australia coz we don’t have can lights & they’ve saved us heaps on power too.
Love your videos! Pro tip: If you wipe your phone's camera clean before shooting you'll eliminate most lens flares and hazy looking video.
Led Pot lights.. Best thing ever. Just cut them out with a hole saw. Layout with a laser. Golden
Arlo is one talented builder, amazing.
Thanks for making me smile a few minutes during my workweek
I really missed Arlo on the main project. I love seeing the chemistry between him and the rest of the crew

Hello from Easton Maryland. Congratulations Arlo! You have a really good friends and perfect team. That but lock is genius!
