I am so sorry to hear about your father, I know exactly what you mean when you say "it's tough"… i’m sure your dad really appreciates just having you around.❤
It's exciting to see a different way of building. I just had my home built and I moved in this past April. It took from July 2023 until April 2024. Plus, we had to go through a winter with the build slowing down. I noticed how clean that truck was before you stated it and I thought exactly what you said about pride of the job & work ethic.
Thanks, Brad. A few months back, you made mention about insurance during the tornado repairs and how they are well 👎. Let me tell you a story about what I have been going through since June. In June my house flooded. The fire department accidentally shut my water off instead of my neighbors and didn't vent the line after they turned it back on. Air got trapped in a bunch of my fixtures, but it blew the back off my fridge filter. I was out of town for the night and came home the next evening and opened the door and was greeted to water. Allstate deployed a preferred vendor to clean up and dry out my house. They sucked the hair off my longhorn cowhide and pulled the carpet up, ripped the pad out, and put the wet carpet dirty ( all the dirt from the pad wet into the carpet)back down. 3 days later, they came back and put fans and dehumidifiers in the house and drilled 2" holes above the baseboard line. Those large dehumidifiers put off so much heat that it was over 200° in my house it killed over $200 in fish and ruined ceiling fans and all shelves and doors and cabinets that weren't ruined by water. I fired them. The second water mitigation company was not a preferred vendor , which ripped out all the cabinets and floors, found more water and flood cut all my drywall, and ripped out the insulation. Allstate still hasn't paid them but has paid the first company, Puro Clean. Allstate did come out and look at the house between the 2 water companies doing work so they could see the damage. Allstate first tried not to pay anything for reconstruction after my deductible and depreciation they literally had me at $0. They wanted me to pay for that would be insulation, drywall and texture and paint, doors and casing and baseboards, shelves in closet, floors, cabinets, plumber. The reconstruction bid from my contractor was $42,000 Allstate came back with $26,000 once you take out $6,000 for recoverable depreciation and another $2,000 for deductible and another $2,000 for the PA that has been fighting Allstate for me there is not enough to rebuild my kitchen. Did I tell you they paid a $22,000 to pack my house and take everything to their facility and store it and then pack it back. WTF !! Yet I have been living in a hotel on their dime while they grag their feet . I'm disabled their is not a chance I have $ to extra missing $ to fix my house. I have zero clue what happens next. I will tell you that after 8 back surgies, this hotel bed is going to cause me to have another. I'm sure I missed something, but basically, Allstate sucks. You're not in good hands. It's bad enough to do this on the daily with everyone every day but to do it to someone with disabilities and they know about it. Rant over.
OMG! That’s a horrible story. I’m sorry you had to go through all that… Sounds like you need to get an attorney and report them to the state insurance commission.!!!

There are so many decisions to take care of and it takes so much planning which leads to sleepless nights because you're always trying to think two to three steps ahead. Take care bud and don't work too hard!
Brad, you should build your next house with dad's situation like you're doing your new barn. I think it'll be a pretty cool idea if you ship panels for your next bill as well and please as well. Take my idea. I was giving you about the custom log cabin. Maybe ship panels will be a good idea for a log cabin idea of what I was giving you after you get your barn done. Can't wait till your next house is about. More updates please and thank you
It was fun following along. Blake does seem like a good guy and surely knows what he's doing. What amazed me was that it didn't seem to be a huge crew... what was there? Maybe 8 guys and Blake? Regardless, they are an impressive team. Blake's not hard on the eyes either, if this old lady can get away with saying that, haha. As far as what to put in the shop... it looks like you'll have loads of room for some really neat toys, even with your helicopter parked in there. Thanks for sharing, Brad. I'm looking forward to the next one. Heather🇨🇦
Daylight savings have nothing to do with needing lights. It's a little thing that is happening in little over a month from now called the winter solstice, also known as the shortest day of the year. Also Day light savings only happens in the summer months where they move the clock so the sun doesn't rise at 4 in the morning and set a lot later. So if you got rid of daylight savings you still need lights at this time of year.
WOW Brad...this is a awesome project, thx for the video and the effort you put in, very enjoyable. Wonder what the difference between stick framing compared to the engineered walls? thx brother!!
Are they putting a few skylights in your roof so you don't always need lights in the daytime, or would that not be energy efficient for really hot days or the cold winter ?
Great video. That crew is FANTASTIC! So efficient and professional. Why did you need so much support for the trusses? Is it because the building is so wide. It seems like so much wasted space and wood to hold up typical metal roofing.
I've never seen those wall panels outside of foundation (which don't have the OSB and get filled with concrete). Is there structure inside those, or just the foam? Wild! Building tech coming a long way.
Best way you can do the roof would be to completely sheet it, ice and water shield the whole deck, then batton it again with an air gap and lastly use snap lock or real standing seam not that crap ag panel with a million holes in it. Then spray foam the underside of the deck with 6+ inches of closed cell or 4+ closed cell and 6+ open cell. The open will give near the same sound dampening as rock wool. Would have been better if you used some or all attic trusses for extra space or just mechanical space. Dm me if you want a free consult.😂😂😂
