Hi, where were you able to purchase the plastic cam wrench for removing and installing the cam lock ring on the tank? I realize Harley has one available, but it's about $199. Thanks.

Yes, I'm trying to find the order for it.
I thought I'd bought it from amazon,
it was easy to find at the time, price was
probably about 12 to 15 dollars. It
is Black Plastic or ABS, very strong
      material, worked perfectly. I'll keep
      searching for the exact item.
I scratched my tank getting the ring off
before I received the tool, having to
      remove that ring multiple times,
the wrench works like a charm.
EDIT; I found it, I actually paid $37.00
@ amazon, it isn't available there
right now, but it is on ebay for $64.00
grrr, not a fair price imo. This is the
      amazon listing title;
Lang Tools Lang Lock Ring Tool (LNG-)
Brand: Lang Tools (currently not available)
      --
      Available here $64.00 :
      Ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Tank-Lock-Ring-Tool-for-Harley-Davidson-motorcycles-by-V-Twin/112785767322
This one , (same as mine), is Lang , overall length
is aout 15'', the round ring part is 5'' id, and
      6 1/4 od +-.

Hello sir thank you for this great video but I have one doubt which fuel pump line is inlet and which one is outlet the big hole or small one respectively

    • @bikersoncall

      Hi Nyineh,
If you are referring to the line into,
and the line out of the fuel filter, @
5:46 , the 'in' is the left fuel line, the
'out' is the right fuel line, which heads
to and connects to a fitting at
the bottom of tank which then continues
a fitting to the injectors by way of an external
      fuel line.
      If you're referring
to the 'in', to the fuel pump, that is actually
a screened inlet underneath the fuel pump,
so at that point there is no fuel line, just a
      fuel inlet. Hope that helps.
I show the fuel pump assembly outside the
bike in another video, that might be worth
      looking at.

At one minute and 39 seconds of the video, you really went overboard.. the pump can easily inserted first, with the bottom to the left and the top to the right, while holding the bracket with the tab between your thumb an two fingers grasping the bracket as the pump enters the tank, slowly turn the pump, counter clockwise, and It will slide right in place.

What problems would I be experiencing to know it is fuel pump?

    • @bikersoncall
      @bikersoncall  2 роки тому +1

In not a mechanic, so I can only tell you my experience with
      fuel pump issues.
You can skip reading all I have written below if you buy
a fuel pressure gauge or borrow one, that cuts trouble
shooting in half, and takes 15 mins to complete, I wasted
way too much time trying to figure the problem out without
      one.
      ---
On two occasions I've had internal fuel lines blow out, when
they actually blow out they will simply stop running, nada,
nothing at all. The second like cracked a bit before blowing out,
in which case there was a loss of power, than an hour later
or so , it just refused to start, would not run at all, because the
crack became or advanced to a clean blow out, so no fuel.
I wasted a lot of time the first time this happened, I had
a million different suggestions from a lot of people,
much of it sending me off in opposite directions, how I
was able to eliminate the big mystery was to buy a fuel pressure
gauge, they're from about $90 to 2 or 3 hundred if oem I believe,
I bought mine from amazon for about $130, they're a bit less
today, ''Fuel-Tool Fuel Pressure Gauge MC-500''.
This enabled me to cut my trouble shooting in half, I once
I realized there was no fuel pressure, I was able to stop wasting
dozens of hours going through electrical issues that just weren't
the problem lol. I had 35k mi on the bike so the fuel lines were
really brittle, just waiting to crack and expolode, also the fuel filter
housing on these will definitely crack and blow in time, mine when
after about 39k mi. If your fuel filter is terrribly clogged it will also
run rough, but not just quit until it is really packed tight with gunk.

I had the experience with my pump, suddenly fail, and no longer starting. Bike was towed. The only thing I would say to be an indícàtor, is that I hàd removed the plugs turned it over, and never did even sméll fuel, the other thing I learned later is that carefully uncoupling the fuel line a couple of times there will be a obvious lack of pressure, as the supply line becomes drained.👍
