Why remove the center council? Merely leave fuel pump harness off and disconnect the vapor hose (same one you connect at 6:13) at the bottom left side of tank near fuel pump connection
I just remove my tank on my road glide. I didn’t take the console off. Seems like a lot of extra work. I didn’t pull the main fuse either. I’m just trying to figure out if the fuel vent lines go in a particular area or just drop down towards the ground.
Had to remove the tank on my 2015 Road Glide Special to change spark plug wires. This video (and the quick disconnect gas line) made this a snap. Thanks!
When I need to remove the fuel tank, if it was started, I let the bike sit for a few hours. That relieves the fuel pressure in the fuel line. Then just pop the fuel line off. Like the way you did it, a few drops come out, that's it. Don't need to pull the main fuse, disconnect the fuel pump wiring and crank the engine. To much extra work.
Great vid. You guys always make it look so easy. How similar process for my '09 Nightrain? Need a few cables for a GPS and wireless phone charger a want to put under the tank.
I have the 2018, FLTRX again why are we removing the center counsel ? I have pulled my tank a few times for various reasons but have not removed the counsel.
As always, very clear and precise videos from J&P Cycles. Can you please do a video for the M8 Road King as the Service Manual is somewhat confusing. It first states to; “separate fuel pump connector (Grey)” which is shown located by the ECM, then later it states; “Models without fairing: Disconnect fuel pump connector (Black) located under the console.”
Hey what would be different other than removing gas cap to remove console and moving my ignition switch for that very front bolt. It’s a 22 road king with a 107 Milwaukee 8
Thank u thank u thank u I just bought a 2020 street bob and I do most of the maintenance myself this made it easy now I can change the spark plugs when it’s time u guys rock!also when will u be getting a Dan moto highway man 2-1 pipe for m8 softails in stock ?
fantastic video. I removed the tank to paint it, on my 2018 street glide. It starts but if I give gas it chokes and turns off. I think I did something wrong with the order of connection or the fuse, can you help me please?
you didn't show the one plug i needed to see. the one comming out of the bottom of the gas tank. my lug went bad so i ordered a new one. but of course the wires are different color codes on each side. my initial failure happened on the road. so i used sigle wire clips to fix it. with out thinking about it i removed them a week before te plug came and i dont know what color goes to what color.
Maybe a dumb question but when I go to re-hook the fuel line and push up on that silver nozzle, all guy sprays out while I’m trying to connect the line.
I just replaced my stock spark plug wires with SE 10mm wires using this video. I have a 2020 FLTRXS - Road Glide special. It’s the exact same thing. The only minor difference is the bottom console nut is 3/8” ( instead of 5/16”).
I have a 2021 Road glide and the tank is not centered… it’s off to the left a bit. Is there any adjustment up at the front bolts to shift side-to-side? Was thinking of maybe inserting a washer or two on one of the front bolts to shift the tank so it’s aligned. Thanks!
Thanks good info searching everysite if the 2019 streetglide has crossover fuel lines and if the fuel pump connector is by the battery where you pulled or under the gas tank cant look at mine at the moment cause bike is in shop locked up
I have a Heritage Classic M8 from 2018. Was also searching and found no adequate video. So last weekend I removed the seat, removed the 2 screws in front and backside of the tank. I could lift the backside of the tank and put some clothes underneath. So I got access to the spark plug. After lowering the backside I did the same with the front side and changed the other spark plug. No unplugging of any wire or gas tubing. 🙂👍
2020 Street Glides consule cover have a single 3/8 bolt (not a nut) at the rear of the tank and a 4mm Allen bolt in the front. No where are there screws holding the tank on. All 3 are bolts. Otherwise a great video.
Your video is meaningless. My buddy used to ride a ‘66 Panhead when he was a member of a bike gang. He tells me the story of when he was cruising (or should I say - vibrating) down the highway and his Harley gas tank fell onto his lap. At 60mph he’s got one hand on the handle bar and the other trying to steady the gas tank between his legs. The hold down bolt sheared off. Love that Harley Davidson quality that’s built into every bike.

Hey man, you helped me a lot with your videos! Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany
Excellent video - I'm about to install the WHIM and I want it run back to that right side cover area. Thank you!

Very good video. You keep it moving and don't overly explain every little move.
Great video. Never removed a tank before and this made it a breeze. Thanks!

I removed my tank without removing the tank bezel cover thing....1 less step!!!

Agreed.
Great helping video! Zooming in is key to learning. Thanks!
Hello, thank you for the instructions. Very helpful. Saw another video and they did not take off the console, wha% are your thoughts on that?
Is this procedure similar for older touring (2007 FLTR)? Thank you 🇺🇸
Awesome video from start to finish- thank you.

Just a little extra info. Its the "by the book" way to do it. If you don't want to remove the extra 2 crews and leave it on that's totally fine.
Very Clear. Made it look simple, even i can do it. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge.
Always enjoy your detailed videos! Will you do a short one on tank removal off the M8 Fat Bob I've seen in your other videos?
Does the console have to come off to actually remove the gas tank?
I'm assuming the 2014 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, with it's massive tank, is done the same way?
Getting into my 19'114 Fatboy.
Changing spark plugs.had to remove console to unplug the wiring.
Hi! Screws Nm please. Thanks

J&P CYCLES Forgot to put plastic (trim cover) nr.62775-08 😁

Thank you that was a great help for me , love your work , now come to Australia and work on my bike ?
Same as the 2019 FLHR RoadKing too?
Why do you remove main fuse?? I never do that. Stuart.

Thanks for the video , how do I drain all the fuel in the tank ? I need to re spray my tank , thanks
Thank you so much for these videos! Very helpful!

Very handy, thanks! Going to add tank lifts tonight.
Great tutorial. Really helped out to do some wiring.

Wrap an allen wrench in a rag and push up on the check valve to release pressure. Shouldn't put out much fuel.
on a custom stretched tank covers do you still run the drain hose under the center console?
I thought it was not good to cycle the fuel pump without fuel in it. Doesn’t that burn them out? I thought they need gas for lubrication
Can you show this being done on a newer model Softail? (2018 Fatboy)
Здравствуйте Михаил! Подскажите пожалуйста какого диаметра колечко внутри и тощина
Thank you for this video, I want to know how much is different when touring is a FLHRXS !

maybe a 1/8th inch or so, with the way the tank s tunneled for the frame it won't be much.
Thanks good info searching everysite if the 2019 streetglide has crossover fuel lines and if the fuel pump connector is by the battery where you pulled or under the gas tank cant look at mine at the moment cause bike is in shop locked up
it should be exactly the same as the bike in the video.
@@jpcycles thanks for the reply keep on making those videos
@@davidsipes1226 Will do!
Thank you very much for this information very very helpful and informative
Great infos there !
Would love to see the same being done on a 2018+ Softail ...
Me too. Can't find any videos

@@mr.robert2507 same here!
Great video and presentation!!!!
What an excellent video my friend. Ty 👍😀
Why does the console need to come off?
Thank you for the information 🙏..
Fuel pump connector is not correct for ‘18 road king special
can I put a 2015 street glide tank onto a 2018 breakout?
It would require significant modification to the frame and tank.
Excellent! Thank You!
Awesome Big Help Thank you
Excellent video , thank you 🙏
Excellent video 👍🏻
Thank you for this video :)

How departmental is when the coating in the tank starts bubaling
I forgot to put the plastic piece on behind the tank
Thank you
Always replace o-ring on fuel line
Good
Thx 👍🏽
Why did you remove the console from the tank?? Just leave it on and remove the tank with it on there. There was no reason for that.
WAIT ......I THINK THE BIKE LOOKS BETTER WITHOUT THE CONSOLE....I WOULD NEVER PUT THE CONSOLE BACK...NOW I WONDER ??
It's a 5/32 hex not a 5/16
Why make a video just about the gas tank removal you didn’t do anything like plugs or something. No ideas for real content
His tool sizes are all wrong.

Things have changed just a tiny bit in HD production since 66....
Talk about meaningless ..
