    HARLEY HAS PUT METRIC O-RINGS IN THIS CHECK VALVE.
    THE LARGE O-RING YOU SEE IN THE VIDEO IS M2X10 AND THE SMALL O-RING IS M2X4.5
    The ( hard to find) small o-ring M2x4.5 was found at McMasters-carr.com
    50 for 6.58 plus shipping , the fastest shipping I have ever seen , came next day. The M2x10 was found at hardware.

    Thank you, I have been looking for 2 days to just show me how it was taken apart without destroying it. Yours was the first one I found that did that. Lucky, I paid 100 bucks for the manual, piece of crap.

    Just a FYI the sliding sleeve does not need to be removed. So the tiny locking balls won't fall out.

    I wonder who supplies these o-rings to Harley? As an engineer in the auto fuel systems world, we’d never get away with this. Fuel leak above hot engine = bad job Harley. Just replaced mine this weekend.

      Ron, I pulled into a diner yesterday on my 2014 CVO Breakout. Fuel was pouring from this area due to failed O'Ring. I desperately got off bike thinking it might burst into flames.

      @@itisaporsche Fortunately it is an easy and inexpensive fix. I bought an o-ring kit for like $10 at Advance Auto. They sell kits to make it easier, but dental tools do the trick too. I love the Breakout!

    Sorry just to ask you because everyone have problem with this valve, you cant do anything else there as build small tube with threads and use just clambs for the inside&outside hoses when you want to take out your tank?I mean something easier using only clamps and hoses.

    As you are inserting the pick to get at the top O ring, do you also have to push on that plunger?

    • @goodboyringo9716
      @goodboyringo9716  11 місяців тому +1

      It's been two years ago since I did the video but No the plunger doesn't need to be pushed to remove the top o-ring.
      Watch the video and do the job just as the video says. Once you start working on the part it will be easy

    Do I have to do anything special when removing the check valve assembly from the bottom of the tank ? I’ve managed to clear both of the old o rings but trying to stick the new ones and the check valve back up into the body with a mirror is just not working for me !

    • @goodboyringo9716
      @goodboyringo9716  3 роки тому

      The check valve has a hose run from it to the fuel pump. I had to remove the top dash opening it up and unclamp the hose before the valve can be removed. Don’t forget to unplug the fuel pump, crank the engine to remove the fuel pressure.
      It sounds hard but it’s not. If you have a manual it will show the fuel pump wire. It’s under the seat bottom of tank. I’m not sure if the hose is long enough for you to remove the valve without unhooking it from the pump but (after gas is drained) If you raise tank in the rear so the gas doesn’t spill , remove valve and try flipping it over to work on it.

      I have a deep 3/16 socket for 1/4 drive which I use upside down..always have some oil on any o-ring when you install them..it's not very difficult to place the spring the valve and the o-ring on top of the socket and push all in the housing. With the socket by hand. Then the larger o-ring you can place partly in the opening. And the socket again by hand will seat the second ring very easily. Then use your mirror to see all aligned or not. The last time I did It .. a tiny piece of the oil sealing was in the groove, and I used a q-tip to brunch it out.

    My buddy's started to leak so we pulled the whole thing out but the hose broke off and we cant get the old hose part out and we tryed to take the tank off but his speed o it on the tank and the center nut just spins so dose the old hose need to come out or will it just brake down over time or should I just tell him to send it to the shop

    • @goodboyringo9716
      @goodboyringo9716  2 роки тому

      I wouldn't worry about the hose braking down but sounds like you'll need a new hoses. The old hoses need to be removed and new ones connected.
      I like learning and saving money while working on my own bike but if you can't fix it have it done. Your problem is the nut and getting the fuel pump out. There are UA-cam videos
      showing how the fuel pump can be removed , a little tricky but easy if you know how. Remove the hose clamps and hoses from the pump .

    Which oring goes in the hose

    • @goodboyringo9716
      @goodboyringo9716  3 роки тому

      I don't know what you mean "which o-ring goes in the hose" Two o-rings go into the chrome check valve just as the video shows.
      The large o-ring is first and around the wall . The second o-ring in down into the check valve sitting on top of the small valve .
      If you can be more clear about the o-ring in a hose I'll try to help , thanks
