I had the exact injury 2 years ago done by a snowboarder. Off the clutches just 6 months ago. I lost a lot of muscle mass on my leg. I hope I can ski again one day.

On Christmas I dislocated my right ankle as well as breaking my tibia and fibula in multiple places. Had to have two surgeries to fix it. Its what you could classify as a severe injury. I'm still not walking yet. I am however looking forward to hopefully getting back on the snow by late next season, so thanks very much for these tips!
My biggest fear as it stands right now is actually getting my foot into a boot. Hopefully I get a full or almost full range of motion back.

It was very hard for me to get my ski boot on for about a year, I have to have another persion hold it open as I did not have the pwer to puch my foot in. Good look and hope your back soon. But do not rush it.

@@SnowCampsEurope yeah, if I have to miss next season I'll be disappointed, but I'd rather be fully ready than jump in early and make things worse.

I fell and strained my knee on my second group ski lesson about a month ago. Luckily it wasn't too serious and my knee feels mostly healed but still a bit sore from time to time. I would like to try again rather than giving up but just wondering how long after an injury like that is it safe to try again? definitely fighting a lot of fear!

Hi Ruth R sorry to hear you injured your knee. When too return to skiing after an injury depends on a few things. You say you strained your knee. But it depends on what you actually damaged. Muscles, ligaments, tendons etc. The only person who can tell you if your fit to return to skiing is either your doctor or physiotherapist. Generally speaking you would want your injured legs strength to be back to within 10% of the good leg. If after your doctor says you can return to sport your still a little worried you can always try something like the Againer-Ski System that you can find more information about on the following page. www.andyrose.ski/againer-ski-system2.html
One last thing make sure you tell your ski teacher what happened so they can make sure the bring you back slowly re building your confidence as you go.
