Thank you for a great video. I run a charity and I was given this machine. It sucks beautifully but the brush stops spinning the moment it hits the carpet. Just the slightest pressure causes it to stop. The carpet is flat like office carpet. I'll slightly pull the machine up and it starts to spin. I did change the belts. Could it be the vacuum idler arm pulley?
shucks-- thank you for your quick reply. As stated the vac still works fine and it does stay in the upright position- it's just that the foot pedal mechanism is loose and when I wheel the vac from place to place it loses the tension and the bottom part of the vac falls to the floor and I have to keep clicking it in. So all I was hoping for was a new foot pedal mechanism to keep the vac in its upright position UNTIL I depress the foot pedal. :(
Have same Hoover wind tunnel. It's about 17 years old. Has worked great. Got new carpet and now the Hoover suction is way high and it doesn't want to move on the new carpet. Still works fine on old carpet. Any ideas?
1. check to see if the Actuator is not broke 2. replace v-belt, flat belt, and brushroll 3. Also make sure the power drive cable is not broke 4. Last but not least, if your power drive assembly stopped working, go on ebay and look for hoover windtunnel power drive assembly. And look for replacement
my unit is doing the same thing. Started off being hard to self porpel whenever I would put a new bag in. Belts have been replaced. Works great on hardwoood and tile. Just bogs down in the carpet. Any way to raise the front end? Tkanks
I have the same vacuum. Runs perfect back and fourth on hard floors then when I go to carpet is sucks to it in the highest height setting. Any ideas???
So I just put a new transmission in (the squealing was just terrible) and everything is in place. But, why does it still want to turn the brushes in the upright position? The idler pulley looks good with tension on it, new handle release pedal, new belts, put the hood on like you said...this thing is driving me crazy! Thank you in advance; I appreciate it!
I am truly hoping that you can aid us here. My vacuum is working ok- BUT it is hard to explain- but the black lever that you push allows the top of the vacuum to lower -if I am making any sense- Like when you want to vacuum and take the unit out of its totally upright stance- its that little know or piece that seems loose- When I transport my vac from room to room and I hit any bump- the bottom of the vac-(that picks up the dirt) falls down very easily- there must be some sort of cable r something that I can check on to tighten this feature? Any aid here young man. Thank you.
Ever since TTI bought Hoover, the transmissions in these machines were junk. I have seen several of these Anniversary Edition models in for the infamous clicking sound due to the cheap gearing in the transmission stripping out.
The main belt is sliding off and has worn a hole into the cover. Tried to replace the belt, but it just ended up melting and breaking off. What do I fix in this case?
I have this exact vacuum. Trying to replace the Handle Release Lever. Do I need to take off the top to get this done? Haven;t been able to find a video on UA-cam. Thanks!
If you're talking about the pedal release next to the wheel you just need two Flathead screwdrivers to pop it out. Bring it to your local vacuum store they'll do it for you for cheap

Same here, it appears Hoover has sold out to Chinese and they’ve discontinued parts and no longer offer replacement self propelled vacuum

Luckily TTI has removed the transmission and continued making higher quality products better Maytag ever did .

And also did you put grease in the transmission?
did you replace the snap rings on the power drive wheels?
Another great video - thank you.
Your camera was not situated so that I could see what you were doing
Is there a aprt # for the idler pulley?
What is the thing called that he said would break and he held it with plyers when he unscrewed it? My vacuum needs that
Thanks for watching! You are looking for a Transmission actuator arm.

I CAN’T GET MY COVER OFF ! FOLLOWED WHAT YOU DID BUT SEEMS STUCK ?
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Bring it to your local vacuum store.
What's the belt part number
9:40 thats the worst sounding transmission I've ever heard. More so when the concepts transmission goes on them.
Awesome vid as always.
Thay abandoned the old headlight style and stopped making propelled vacuums really royal
Its weird that hoover named a bagged vacuum a windtunnel
Windtunnel refers to the patented design of 2 or 3 channels of suction in the cleaner head.
It Hoover Anniversary self Propel it not Hoover self propel that 9 year old vacuum
This qualifies for any self-propelled windtunnels not just the anniversary models
