I'm glad to hear you have the petris opti and are having good luck with them I've only heard great things about um and because of that I'm ordering one myself I have a 92 so the upgrade to vented will be world-changing basically! I haven't had good luck with optisparks in this particular car at all! I didn't know that the aftermarket optispark situation was so bad! I used to have a 95Z28 and absolutely loved that car and never had any issues with it, and for that reason is why I got a LT1 powered C4 vs L98 but hopefully this new optispark will bring back my enjoyment of the LT1!
I've heard of bad opti replacements for the early LT1, with even new ones not lasting more than a couple of weeks 😬 However, this is simply not true for the late LT1 style. Get yourself that vented conversion, and you won't have probs any longer! Thanks for watching my little repair series, I hope you enjoyed! 😉
@VetteWerks even the newer ones aren't immune to it! I was talking to a guy with a 95 C4 they are the vented pin drive and he said he went through 2 or 3 in a couple months, then got the petris and been running perfectly for 4 years now.
@sarahgarcia346 there are a couple of good Opti's out there but for sure there must be a lot of super cheap made ones. One thing that can be a cause for bad Opti's are the install. I forgot to mention it in the video, but we shouldn't press the Opti into the timing cover too hard, it should set in place easy. Try not to fight it. Wiggle it in.
@VetteWerks I'm not sure about the pin drive I don't have any experience changing one of those but on the spline drive if you line it up perfectly and and centered ( which is actually pretty hard to do) it'll slide right in with basically no resistance just have to be very patient with it and once I find it I slide it in and out just to be sure but it really can't go in wrong but I'm sure some people will get frustrated and try to just push it in.
@sarahgarcia346 That's exactly it, pressing it too much will damage them internally. And yes the dowl pin version does kind of wiggle in. It's easy to center it but it never wants to just slide in perfectly 😉
I wonder why you like that intake manifold gasket? It is for the LT1 intake. Your intake manifold looks to be an LT4. Certainly that gasket covers the port opening just enough to allow for a seal but the LT4 gasket would fit better and give more sealing area. Also, that gasket intrudes a little bit into the air flow, that will not hurt top end power by a lot but every little bit adds up.
Yep, you are right! I went to my local auto parts store, and all they had was the LT1 gasket. Since most peeps don't have an LT4, i thought ehh, this is okay to post. In hindsight, I should have mentioned that i was using the LT1 version on the LT4 heads. The only thing you need to do is cut the tabs, and the gasket will fit right in. Also with a little bit of gasket maker behind the gaskets, and it will stay in place. I made sure there was absolutely no interference with the airflow from the heads and manifold. It fits in just fine. Otherwise, I would not have used them 👍🏻 good eye.
@EllweinEngines Yep, If I can remember... Hmm, I may have massaged the edges a bit, very little work at all. But I do remember setting them up in place. I was a bit surprised at how well they fit. But same with me here. every little bit adds up, and I'd just hate to cause some kind of power restriction.
watched from start to finish, so cool to see it running! I'm inheriting a 95' C4 that's been sitting for the last 4 years due to my friends family not knowing how to drive a manual transmission, any tips on what to look for/do tp get it back on the road?
Thank you for watching! Do you have Instagram? It would be easier to talk there. The tips/tricks would also depend on if the car runs right now or not. For starters, one tip would be to check the ALDL for History.
@omarrodriguez5560 Yep, they do go into the passages, I just realized a little after replying to our friend here. I've always used gasket maker, front and back on the standard gaskets and have never had a problem, done it many many times I don't even worry about the bolts leaking. Cleaning up the gasket material on the block is easy too. Using thread sealant would be good practice, thanks.
It’s criminal how low views these videos are have been super helpful
@@noehhh696 Ah, thanks 😊
@@noehhh696 They're not even necessarily how-to videos, just documenting the fix, but it feels good to know it's helped.
Nice work, for sure worth the time to clean and paint all of the parts you can, really looks good.
I think it's just me, maybe it's a little OCD but it's worth it 😅
I would rather powdercoat in silver, even all the suspension and diff. Coming up.
Thanks for watching all my vids 🤜🏻
@@VetteWerks 🤛 thanks for posting them lots of great info. Well it’s the weekend off to my c4 project car. 🤙
Nice!!
Nice work!
Thanks for watching :>

great vid
Thanks as always 👌🏻
Nice Job man!
Thanks as always Ed! I'll check out your supercharger vid right now.
@@VetteWerks Thx brother, Had a set back and f'k up the harmonic balancer bolt turning the motor. Have a moroso bolt coming for the restart.. Peace

I'm no engine builder like you are 😌 but I made sure there was no interference 👍🏻
That makes good sense. Thanks for the reply. It is always good to hear new options for parts. a little extra trimming and some RTV did the trick then.

What size are the 12 bolts for the intake manifold?
Nice videos! you would not happen an oil pan for a 96 Corvette?
Thanks! Are you asking if I have a '96 oil pan? No sorry, I don't have any spares.
Awesome! Do the water pump bolts need thread sealant?
Not sealant, luckily there's no way for them to leak from there.
A few of the bolt holes are open and enter the water passage.
@omarrodriguez5560 Yep, they do go into the passages, I just realized a little after replying to our friend here. How do you know its flush?? Im trying to install my hub but dont know how far in it needs to go
Just until it doesn't want to go in anymore. If it's not all the way in, the rest of the pullys won't align when you out the serpentine belt back on
What was the opti spark that you used?
Petris Optispark
