    • @VetteWerks

      I had to increase the diameter for the bolt holes on the flange, for each header. I used a Milwaukee step drill to elongate the opening, like an oval. Other than that, it's pretty bolt on. But installing whatever else catback system after is another story. I would go American Racing Headers.

    I wonder why you like that intake manifold gasket? It is for the LT1 intake. Your intake manifold looks to be an LT4. Certainly that gasket covers the port opening just enough to allow for a seal but the LT4 gasket would fit better and give more sealing area. Also, that gasket intrudes a little bit into the air flow, that will not hurt top end power by a lot but every little bit adds up.

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 4 місяці тому

      Yep, you are right! I went to my local auto parts store, and all they had was the LT1 gasket. Since most peeps don't have an LT4, i thought ehh, this is okay to post. In hindsight, I should have mentioned that i was using the LT1 version on the LT4 heads. The only thing you need to do is cut the tabs, and the gasket will fit right in. Also with a little bit of gasket maker behind the gaskets, and it will stay in place. I made sure there was absolutely no interference with the airflow from the heads and manifold. It fits in just fine. Otherwise, I would not have used them 👍🏻 good eye.

      @EllweinEngines Yep, If I can remember... Hmm, I may have massaged the edges a bit, very little work at all. But I do remember setting them up in place. I’ve a 1996 polo green LT4/6spd. It’s my second C4 resto-mod. The C4 responds better than most cars with my “shoes ‘n’ stance” build standard. The right wheels, tires, and ride height wakes the C4 aesthetically, but if you are not used to driving a lowered car, take your time and get used to it. I’ve a lot of parts and build ideas that I have put off for some time. Seeing this car and another UA-cam C4 has made me realize how much I miss mine. The C4 has a build and drive fun factor that few others can approach.

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 5 місяців тому

      What you say is true about the c4 platform. If you're going to start with a pretty cool build, i would like to see its progress. Do you have an Instagram? I never finished my vette, I'm moving into my dream car the C4 ZR1 and finishing my ultimate build on that instead.

    • @BAndersen-ee1xy
      @BAndersen-ee1xy 5 місяців тому

      @@VetteWerks I think the ZR1 is an amazing restomod project. I had considered it when I bought mine about 8 years ago. The cost of building and modifying the LT5 is considerable and rather put me off. I’ve considered an approximate build cost of $25k, including ~500hp, so the LT5 would take quite a bite out of that. I don’t have much of a social media presence, but my nephew has tried to convince me it may be worthwhile to document. Others in my local Corvette community, especially the C4 fans, also like the idea. I may do this, although I’m a private person, I have always valued the camaraderie of fellow “car guys”, particularly Corvette (C4)enthusiasts. I would hope to get things rolling later this year. Would love to see what you get up to with the Z. I think the C4 is finally getting some respect, beyond just “kids” straight piping and beating the shit out of them, so disappointing to see.

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 5 місяців тому

      @BAndersen-ee1xy The C4 community on Instagram is 👍🏻 Hmm.. the cars consist of mostly stock folks or basic small budget modification 'builds'. There are a few strong builds and currently in the works builds as well. So far, I've never experienced any negativity on that platform. But the people like to see a progress page, just like yours would be if you decide on getting started. I suggest that you do for funzies. Yep, the LT5 would cost 4x to make the same power as an LT1/4. But that mighty engine can surpass them in power. My idea is about a 730hp +/- NA LT5, it'll cost me about 50k at least on engine alone. I have more ideas. Everything will be touched up, powdercoated, repaint, slight further widened rear fenders, full interior, custom wheels again, yada-yada-yada... everything. The Werx. It's a huge expensive project, but the Z is my dream car. So you can count on me to build something truly special. Or, one can dream, at least.

    what type of headers do you have /BRAND and was there a lot of modification? are they shorty's or long tube/ I have a 92 C4 Eliminating the opti /Converting to spark coils. HEADERS, fuel injectors, headers, timing chain. ANY HELPFUL PARTS BRANDS?

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 6 місяців тому

      These are Exotic Muscle headers, non-EGR and catless with full ceramic coating. The fitment was easy, sliding them on was easy. But I found that during the header install, only a couple of bolts would be much harder to feed in, one on each header in my case. I simply used a step drill bit to shave the hole to the side a bit more where I needed the space, as well as make space on the inside diameter just a tad, too. The only other problem from there would be fitting the headers to whatever exhaust system you use.

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 6 місяців тому

      A double roller timing chain will not fit your timing chain cover, so you will need to trim the inner cover to clear, or convert to the '95-'96 cover, look up how to do that.. I suggest the cost efficient 'SA Gear Double Roller Timing Chain' kit. That kit would be much cheaper than the Cloyes LT4 heavy duty hardened timing chain, and almost just as strong. Get the Accel 30Lb Injectors #150830. Much nicer than the Bosch. Stockers are 24lb injectors.

    I'm glad to hear you have the petris opti and are having good luck with them I've only heard great things about um and because of that I'm ordering one myself I have a 92 so the upgrade to vented will be world-changing basically! I haven't had good luck with optisparks in this particular car at all! I didn't know that the aftermarket optispark situation was so bad! I used to have a 95Z28 and absolutely loved that car and never had any issues with it, and for that reason is why I got a LT1 powered C4 vs L98 but hopefully this new optispark will bring back my enjoyment of the LT1!

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 6 місяців тому

      I've heard of bad opti replacements for the early LT1, with even new ones not lasting more than a couple of weeks 😬 However, this is simply not true for the late LT1 style. Get yourself that vented conversion, and you won't have probs any longer! Thanks for watching my little repair series, I hope you enjoyed! 😉

    • @C4VETTELT1
      @C4VETTELT1 6 місяців тому

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 6 місяців тому

      @sarahgarcia346 there are a couple of good Opti's out there but for sure there must be a lot of super cheap made ones. One thing that can be a cause for bad Opti's are the install. I forgot to mention it in the video, but we shouldn't press the Opti into the timing cover too hard, it should set in place easy. Try not to fight it. Wiggle it in.

    • @C4VETTELT1
      @C4VETTELT1 6 місяців тому

      @VetteWerks I'm not sure about the pin drive I don't have any experience changing one of those but on the spline drive if you line it up perfectly and and centered ( which is actually pretty hard to do) it'll slide right in with basically no resistance just have to be very patient with it and once I find it I slide it in and out just to be sure but it really can't go in wrong but I'm sure some people will get frustrated and try to just push it in.

    • @VetteWerks
      @VetteWerks 6 місяців тому

      @sarahgarcia346 That's exactly it, pressing it too much will damage them internally. And yes the dowl pin version does kind of wiggle in. It's easy to center it but it never wants to just slide in perfectly 😉

      @@VetteWerks just watched that video and ya I see what you are saying but I also feel like I get what you did there it’s almost like a manual nutsert.

      @efstorms Yep, right on. You must use a wrench that hugs all corners of the nut, I suggest finding a larger diameter nut too, but not necessary. The best bearing to use is a proper diameter thrust bearing. It's much easier than the motorcycle wheel bearing I used. I'll make a new video when I can, with some links to even a pre cut 10 inch hardened threaded rod, and bearing.

    Love your videos man. I have a 1994 that I have been going through, did you order that little bent hose that goes from the purge solenoid to the throttle body, if so where did you get that and part no? Thanks looking forward to more vids. Take it easy

      Thanks. Yes I did end up replacing that hose. It is part number 152034 from Davies Corvette CorvetteParts.com It's a very snug fit.

      @@VetteWerks Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll be ordering that little bad boy up and ya it looks like a bit of a battle to get back on. Thanks again for the info and videos, very helpful for a weekend warrior wrench.

    I’d been interested in one of these until I found out they’re over $500 and still require some fabrication. 🤦‍♂️
