    The most classic BYU image of the season was when the ASU fans prematurely rushed the field, and while Coach Dillingham was having his meltdown, Kilani was out on the field smiling and fist bumping the ASU fans . . . made me proud to be a BYU fan.

I dont think the Big-12 really understands this rivalry, and both sides have had their moments of poor behavior.

  • @LurleenBo
    @LurleenBo 23 дні тому +5

    In the 90s, the great friendship between coaches Lavell Edwards & Ron McBride made the rivalry fun & light-hearted.
    Those days are long gone. Unfortunately, the rivalry is now nasty & mean-spirited. I was looking forward to NEVER playing the Utes again, and anticipating new, good-natured rivalries with Baylor and Kansas.
    Was bitterly disappointed when the U unexpectedly (and very reluctantly) left the disintegrating Pac12 for the Big12. Just go AWAY, Utah.

      I have just ONE name for you. Urban Meyer. He alone destroyed what was once a somewhat friendly rivalry.
      He created a toxic situation at Utah, and other coaches just jumped on that bandwagon. Now you have his childish protégé as HC, and the heir apparent will just continue the obnoxious state of the program.
      Perhaps a coach should be hired that teaches discipline and respect as opposed to holding the receivers every down, and take cheap shots in the pile to try to injure opponents.

    With all candor, I believe that going independent wore down a lot of the rough edges on BYU's fanbase and in the athletic dept. As hard as that era was, it was good for us. I believe it made us comfortable in our own skin.
    I bet, if BYU had been added to the Big 12 12 years ago, we would have been annoying (like Utah, perhaps). If we keep being successful, I'm sure we'll get more annoying.
    Anyway, we're thrilled to be in the Big 12. It rocks.

    It’s been said, stepping into a turd and then stepping out isn’t the same as not stepping into the turd to begin with.
    Utah’s not happy to be in the Big 12 compared to where they were, and who can blame them for that? But you don’t say it, and you can’t undo saying it, even with a heartfelt apology two months late.
    The Utah brass had one opportunity correct Harlan’s supposed misstatement and they stood silent. It’s not like they had to fire the guy, but a public correction was absolutely warranted.
    So no one should believe Utah is suddenly glad to be in the Big 12, and that’s fine. What has changed in the past 60 days? Was Utah’s membership threatened? I seriously doubt it.

    Utah did well at 5 and 7. Why? Because they lost narrowly game after game. If one looks at the win/loss record, it doesn't look good but if you were cheering for Utah while watching the games you'd be frustrated that the team came so close so many times. In addition, Utah got more money this season from the Big12 than the 4 teams that joined the prior year. A lot more. The Big12 showed CU, UU, ASU and AU more respect as former PAC12 members. And I 100% agree. Had Utah had BYU's record, Utah would've been in the CFP.
