Steve is in mourning, he is in a happy valley Howard Johnson's getting things together after the brutal loss of his (and mine) beloved Nittany Lion's, hey buddy "we Are"!
Would enjoy seeing you get NIU's AD Sean Frazier on your podcast to discuss what NIU's thought process is and was for going football-only and any potential plans for stadium improvements and large fundraising to support the move, NIL, and. House settlement.
@lukefletcher4689 Why isn't UNT an option in your opinion? 1- Memphis, Tulane & 1 of UNT/UTSA/TXST 2- Memphis & 1 or 2 of UNT/UTSA/TXST 3- 1 or 2 of UNT/TXST/UTSA 4- New Mexico St or Sac St They will not add both Sac St & New Mexico St. *If memphis says yes, formally invite Uconn Fb only After the MW & PAC lawsuit is done re invite UNLV.
It's like if a Cslifornia mission ran into a 1970s business complex, surrounded by 1980s portables that became "permanents". Lol. It's pretty run down, even though they have a new science building and student center. It's so bad, the university got a measure on the ballot to get locals to pony up millions to make repairs and generally pick the place up, which should tell you what you need to know. Being a state U, the locsls voted against the measure and basically told Jimenez-Sandoval to use state funds to fix his school.
First of all, Jimenez-Sandoval is not a good university president nor is he a decent human being. He is a loudmouth, but only has a history of making shortsighted mistakes. Second, the move to the Pac has been a huge miscalculation, and there is no possible way you can sell it as anything else. The Bulldogs may not even have a bowl eligible schedule next sesson, they destroyed their rivalries, and have no direction for the future except a new football coach who is gonna leave the moment a Big 10/Big 12/SEC contract shows up... IF he can find a quarterback and get better than 6-7 with a bowl loss, like Skipper. Here's a scary fact: the 'Dogs have had seven head cosching changes in the past 9 years. Two of those were interim guys, but Jeez. How can this guy come in and talk about having a solid program when it has been anyyning but solid since Pat Hill left. It was Jeff Tedord's quarterback factory for a few seasons, off and on, but that's it.
Last I checked 2 of Fresno's rivals are moving to the new conference with them (SDSU and BSU) and 2 of the ones left behind have been trending downward for a decade or more. As for performance Fresno has had a pattern of ups and downs as do most G5 programs. They won the MWC as recently as 2022 (something that Wyoming, New Mexico, UNLV, Hawaii, UNR or Air Force have NEVER done) and have won conference titles in 2018, 2013 and 2012. As I recall they only won a single conference title under Pat Hill's tenure for the 14 years he was at the helm.
The 2025 Schedule has already been set, they will not be bowl ineligible. Fresno, like every other program's health in today's CFB, is completely dependent on its NIL backing, program donors, and fan interaction. And like every non P4 like recent MWC entrant NIU, is desperate to boost short term revenues to stay competitive and potentially prepare themselves for the aftershocks of the House Settlement. The PAC offers the potential for better revenue prospects at least short term until the next major realignment wave likely by 2030. Also having Boise in your conference adds more national profile than any other scenario that was available to Fresno. Unfortunately, the high velocity of turnover for HCs is expected for any non P4 school, especially if successful and even more so if competitive with P4 opponents. Fresno unfortunately will have to embrace this pattern until they can secure a position in a P4 conference, if even possible at this stage.
Very interesting interview. My aunt, who still lives in the Fresno area, received her doctorate from Fresno State.
Great job securing an interview like this. U guys are good. Fantastic podcast.

Great interview. Klassy seems to be interested in additions outside of the PACs current footprint.
Memphis, Tulane, UTSA Option 1, Texas St option 2, NMSU, and Sac St Option 3

Interesting as Jon Wilner was pushing UNLV yesterday. I just want it to be over.
Great work!!!! Any more interviews with MWC AD's coming up soon?
Yes. We are scheduling more in the next week or two. Stay tuned.
Fresno state is on the rise! Love the campus and could be one the best campus on the West Coast!
I haven't been but I can't imagine how it compares to UCLA, USC, USD or UW.

Go Dongs!
The Bull Dongs are coming to the Pac... The Bull Dogs must be some other school?

@@reverend_wintondupree I'm talking 2026, where Fresno still has Wash St listed as an OOC opponent on the schedule.
