I wish W.E.B and Booker T could have worked 2gether.
I wished that these men could have sat down to understand each other's POV and devise a plan to have them work in tandem. They both have valid points which are necessary. We needed the court cases but we also needed to establish our own independence from white supremacy with Black institutions and business entities. God bless the souls of these men.
I greatly appreciate your content and the work you put into educating the masses. You work is essential. So happy I found you channel.
Thank you so much!
These are so great. You’re doing an amazing job
The answer then and now is "both / And." Thank you for sharing!
Round two. I will call this round probably a 50/50 they both have things I agree with and ideas but I tend to still laying more towards Bookertee because I feel like if we would have been able to create our old black America eventually we would have integrated but it would have been more respectful because of the capital that we are bringing in the money but we just didn’t get time to do it I understand the Ku Klux Klan and other racial activities hindered us but I think if we would have stuck to that Booker T. way of thinking we would have been successful and they would have had to respect us
Very interesting point you raise!
The question is how so? While the KKK was overt racism unless you appeased the system the covert racism- red lining, unjustice prosecution, subpar education and unhealthy living conditions would have persisted.
There was no way of overcoming the structural racism that existed without defeating the system that empowered and upheld it.
Even when federally mandated to integrate and stop discrimination the south continued their oppressive tactics.
The only reason they allowed Washington to survive is because he appeased the people and helped keep the people satisfied with crumbs.
Been waiting on this honestly I like both philosophies even though I think people overlook Washington’s separate but equal philosophy it is misinterpreted as black people not being equal to white America but in reality people don’t think about the equality part of it. I think of things like black Wall Street which was one of the most successful things to happen in black history in America until it was under minded by white America. It is crazy in a way for our people to expect equality in this country. It has it drawbacks but it is not as bad of a philosophy as it has been perceived over the years.
Exactly! A lot of Black nationalists have made the argument that the problem with separate but equal wasn't the "separate" part, but the "equal" part. I'm not sure if I agree, but they make a good point.
As time marches on and we stand still or move at a not optimal pace, Washington's philosophy holds a growing appeal to me.
A major issue to address is the redress needed to facilitate this self-determination. As history shows, we build, they burn.
well done.
Booker T Washington... has a superior argument.. self development is the best
Do you remember when Black wall street was created between 1865 and 1885. It was a contemporary of the freedman bank. (Wall Street in NYC was a hegelian dialectic steal. It was a steel of the black banks constructed in 1860s onward.) A lot of history has changed.
I think the problem is thinking there can be two Americas. There is one America and we need to learn to see each other as Americans. WEB was right to fight peacefully and in the courts for equality, but in the same time Booker knew to help yourself and your community you had to have skills and education that couldn’t be taken away. In addition he felt whatever gains made through the courts would result in whites artificial interactions with the black community.
We are trying to fix a sin problem with human intelligence and it can’t be done.
I agree with your last statement. Ephesians 6:12
Correct, Booker T understood that us black people had to prove ourselves worth being respected. Not having the federal government force people to like each other. It’s was a win win situation because we did have to pull ourselves up from slavery through trade, education, skills labor ect ect.

Thank you so much! Just finished recording a new video that will be out next week.
Both men had something to offer. A skill is a benefit as is a formal education. The problem is too many at the time felt one must choose one or the other. Washington preached thrift and patience while DuBois preached rejection of rights violations and becoming formally educated. During this time blacks were under siege from whites so no matter what they did was done with struggle and many times death. Both Washington and DuBois had a common enemy. Washington chose to work around him while DuBois chose to confront him. Which approach was right? Who can say? In today's world both approaches would have an idea environment in which to fluorish because they are both still applicable. Du Bois
passed away in 1963 but was interviewed by a reporter from Atlantic Magazine in Accra, Ghana. He spoke of his differences with Washington as well as the positives aspects of what he rerpresented. He concluded by saying although they disagreed he felt there was a greatness about Washington and was saddened by his death. The interview was most enlightening. Just a thought.
Love your insight! I personally believe that conflict is healthy. It sharpens our tools and challenges us to really think things through and are to be on top of our game.
@@AfricanElements DuBois' talented tenth should now read talented whole. Washington's hands on approach should be taken on by more young blacks. Both ideas have merit. Example: Washington once said success is possible by doing a common thing in an uncommon way. Frying chicken is the perfect example and has made many a person wealthy but let's take baking . Why can't a young black chemical engineer come up with a recipe for we'll say graham crackers and cheese crackers for the vending and food industry? He then goes to a black bank, secures a loan for equipment, sets up his facilities, hires a work force, hires a black advertising firm to publicize his product and begins selling. He can take his company vehicles to a black auto mechanic shop. his towels and cloth ware to a black laundry, etc. Get the picture? What both men advocated can work together. Just a thought.
I gave round 1 to Mr. Washington, but Mr. DuBois wins this one. Unfortunately evilness seeks to destroy progress of others.
Thanks for watching! I was just going to ask you if you had seen this one.
Hi, This is really great! Is there a round 3? i cant find it.

@@AfricanElements Wow thank you so much for the quick reply!
I DON'T THINK HIS METHODE IS ACCOMMODATION.. I THINK IT WAS HIS STRATEGY.. SOMETIMES YOU KEEP YOUR ENEMIES OFF BALANCE WHILE YOU MAKE PROGRESS.. HAVING RACIAL EQUALITY JUST SO YOU CAN MARRY ANOTHER RACE, IS THAT REALLY RACIAL EQUALITY.. PEOPLE WILL ONLY JUDGE BASED ON YOUR SKILLS AND HOW YOU DEVELOP YOURSELF.. IN THE END, HE WAS RIGHT.. CAUSE BLACK AMERICA HAS GOOOONE SO FAR BACK. MORE YOUNG BLACK MEN ARE GOING TO PRISON THAN ANY OTHER RACE AND THIS IS 2022..

Personally I believe in both philosophies to an extent. Black ppl should learn how to be self sufficient BUT also be aware that we need the law on our side too. Some white ppl are more useful then some black if we are being honest
Thanks for your comment. I have a premier coming up in 2 minutes. I'd love to have you join! ua-cam.com/video/7nj8lDli0KI/v-deo.html
