  • What's Been Going on With Husky Squad? We are Answering Your Questions, what happened to the Squad in January, and where we are right now ...
    Many of you have been wondering what happened to us in January and why we have not been around much. So ... we filmed a special update video to share a little bit about our recent experiences. We will share a follow-up on a future video, because one of the topics in this video definitely deserves its own spotlight, and so does Kimahri ❤️

    I live in Maine. Yes, Lyme disease is VERY prevalent here unfortunately. Especially in the Acadia National Park area. We have two Japanese Spitz that love to go on hikes. We use “Earth Animal” product’s for fleas and ticks. We use the internal powder, the spray and next year are going to add the mouth drops. All natural and takes care of 90-95% of ticks. We have no problem with fleas. Our dogs are also raw fed. Hope you can visit up this way again! Love your videos!

    Can't believe I've never seen your videos, subscribed! Keeping me motivated in caring, loving and playing with my two huskies. We just adopted one from the shelter with an injured leg, not house-trained so a lot of work ahead. She's already learning! Thanks for the inspiring videos.
    Hope you work through all the health challenges for your pack. Stay strong, they're resilient creatures.

I like this format of catching up. I'll be interested in all your videos, I know life is not always roses. That said, I love your magical videos with your huskies. I live in central NY and our Husky fur baby has ticks constantly. If you don’t do the meds then all you can do is have diligence in checking your babies everyday and multiple times. The good news is usually the ticks stick to the paws, neck, ears and face. Glad to see you back. Love your content and seeing the Squad.

    I love this personal video, I'm so sorry you had all those health problemas.
    My lovely Runa had also health problems this year, a couple of times she had ulcers on her eye, because of running through vegetation. Then we find out one of the worst of the things that a dog could have, leishmania. Afortunately we find it soon so the organs are not damage, we have to control the parasite now with light medication and then I hope we can continue without it but with blood analysis to be sure she's save.
    Now she also scratches her mouth a lot, and I don't know what is it, we are getting into raw food also, let's see if I find information about zinc, to see if its the same problem yuna had.
    This year is being so hard, I hope it changes for all of us and we can continue enyoying with our huskies for a long time.
    Thanks for sharing as always we learn a lot with your videos,
    . Big hugs for all of you, wishing all the best! 💑🐺🐺🐺💞

    There was a point in my life where i wondered what was my purpose in life because I let others put me down because they can't realize what their purpose is. I always had a dream of living a happy peaceful life where negativity wont effect me or my family and travel all over the world just like you with me and my pup enjoying the beautiful adventures I have planned. Where I live right now negativity is all around me, and not so much of a safe place for anyone, but the good thing is I have a very positive mind to keep negativity from colliding with me and my dreams because if I never had a positive mind like i currently have now I wouldn't know who I really am. *My point is Don't let anyone, anything stop you from chasing your dreams until its achieved.* I'm already having a feeling of what the next video is going to be about and I hoping it's not what I think it is😔

    • @huskysquad
      @huskysquad  6 років тому +2

      Hello Matthew! I love the point you made - absolutely true! A lot of it is the mind, and right next to it is also taking actions step by step and a plan to improve each part of life in steps. That's how we did it too. We started from scratch and built out a plan with goals and then started creating smaller goals we can execute one by one to get to the bigger goals. It's a lot of work, but so worth it when you achieve them. Another note we focus on is to enjoy the process of improving our lives and appreciating every achievement instead of living "unsatisfied". The video we will upload about Kimahri will be very powerful, but don't worry! She is getting better. You will be inspired 😀sending love and strength your way! ♥

You're amazing for rescuing your two pups, they are so lucky to have you now 🙏❤. There's probably about 3 to 4 different accents mixed into one 😆...I (Victoria) grew up in Belgium and learned 3 different languages. Also lived in east coast (US) before coming to the west. Most people can't pinpoint the accent, but very few do 😄

    HI Victoria & JC-I love your videos and your squad is so adorable! I am always watching your videos for inspiration as we also love the outdoors and plan to take Ocean on many adventures! He is currently 6 months and super active and hyper. Have you ever thought of making the squad into ESA or service animals since they are so well behaved? It would help a lot for you guys to open the doors in being able to get into more places to stay, as well as parks and other places where dogs typically cannot go. I currently have my maltipoo as an ESA dog and Ocean is training to become one! There is no necessary certification for ESAs, but service dogs are a bit different. Another hotel chain which we absolutely love are the Residence Inn's by Mariott--they allow dogs, the rooms have a kitchenette, free laundry service, some of them even have a dog park, and best , they are reasonably priced! If your dogs become service dogs as well for you, there are no dog fees at all from hotels or Airbnbs.

    • @huskysquad
      @huskysquad  6 років тому +1

      Thanks a bunch for your sweet comment, I'm so happy you enjoy our videos. This style video is new to us, so thank you so much for your support ♥ . Yes, we have thought about ESA, we're just not 100% sure how to go about it (need to research for sure!) and we need to figure out if places would have a limit of one ESA dog per person, because the Squad outnumbers us 😂! I had NO IDEA Residence Inn's by Mariott allows dogs and all the reasons why they are amazing. Thank you SO much for sharing that with us, we will definitely give them a try too. I'm so happy we won't have to do Motel 6 anymore. I would get anxiety every time we thought of needing to stay there. Sending love and gratitude 💓

    thank you for sharing your story... so relieved that everyone is doing better. my cats are both on raw and i recommend it for every single pet owner. one of my cats has feline hyperesthesia and only started to do better after i transitioned to raw. luckily i transitioned her when she was 1 and now she's 8! our other cat is on hypoallergenic raw and also some meds. sorry to hear your airbnb situation was so frustrating... i tried it once and it was a disaster. we got our money back from airbnb and had to book a hotel at 9 pm!

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience with a raw diet for your cats ❤️it does seem to work wonders. They also enjoy their meals so much more and we feel better giving them real food instead of the same processed bowl of "cereal" every day. Yes! Airbnb is def higher risk we feel by now. Wow! Sounds like you had a terrible experience too! sorry about that! We're so happy to have La Quinta now, and I do have to say we love the million stars hotel (camping) over anything else! Like we did here: ua-cam.com/video/eGq4_Wv6bks/v-deo.html

    Bruno (husky) and I are doing the van life thing in Australia. Heaps of great off track locations. Bruno has a nice lump so we get out as much as we can. When he feels off I give him Vit C and a quarter of a aspirin tab.
    Vit C helps with the after effects of ticks. Being in remote places in Australia means it's afew days driving to get to medical help or longer when 4wding so I has helped enormous amounts to know the Vitamin C trick. Aspirin is only a good for 1 or 2 days a week because it's a blood thinner.

    What I do for fleas and ticks is soak my dogs collars in a mixture of water, vinegar ( just a little ) lemon grass oil, peppermint oil, and cedar wood oil. It is SUPER important that you buy oil from a reputable company. I buy through Young Living. Most oils on store shelves are synthetic and can be sold as "pure" with only 5% oil in the bottle. We live in Oregon also, and I have not had any issues with ticks or fleas.

    I don’t trust myself with raw food and I have a pitadore that seems to have a different digestive tract. So I prepare a lot of cooked chicken and vegis. I add raw kale. They don’t really like the vegis. I do give my huskies hamburger meat twice a week very rare. Any comments?

    • @huskysquad
      @huskysquad  5 років тому

      +Zamir Tarmu i totally understand, but raw grinds are incredible! With your current diet, you’re unfortunately lacking critical nutrients from organs and raw (not cooked!) edible bone content for calcium. You’ll need to speak to a dog nutritionist. Please know that cooked chicken bones or any kind of cooked bones can literally kill a dog - so please be careful. I believe I already recommended to you Dr. Karen Becker’s book for home made diets 🙏♥️

    Try eucalyptus oil or peppermint oil on their bandanas when hiking for the ticks they are natural repellent.

    • @huskysquad
      @huskysquad  6 років тому

      Thank you friends! Have you guys tested it successfully with your pack? We tried a number of natural sprays there and the ticks still "landed" on them. I think the New England region is so infested, it's almost impossible not to be at risk there.

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack 6 років тому

      Husky Squad we have visited the New England region but was winter the temperature was between 1 degree to -28 (we got 2 blizzards on Vermont) so we didn’t have problems with ticks
      But we use bandanas for 2 reasons one is cause they look like “wolfs”
      So we want to make sure hunters seem them as domestic dogs we know of case of a Malamute been shot dead by hunter who confuses them with a wolf. And the second reason is to put the repellent oils on the bandana and not directly on their coat.

    • @huskysquad
      @huskysquad  6 років тому

      Labrador Paradise thank you a bunch for your sweet comment, we had to focus on healing and it took every drop of energy we had and it was so worth it. We will have lots more videos coming on everything. As far as puppy pictures and videos, we have some older pictures but on all of them are puppy pictures. We rescued Kimahri when she was already closer to a year old. Since we carry a responsibility with a growing community, we really want to inspire adoption/rescue vs buying puppies (we learned a lot) - and we feel puppy pictures create more demand for breeding and buying dogs when there are so many in rescues/shelters who are waiting for a second chance at life. Maybe we can do a video more about this subject ❤️😀

    Hi! Unfortunately there is really not a good enough way to repel fleas and ticks naturally. They carry so many diseases that to me it's just not worth the risk. My dog actually has ehrlichia wich is transmited by ticks due to insufficient preventative measures. Thankfully we find out early with preventative blood work which we do twice a year before any damage was done (she had no symptoms) but she had to take antibiotics for a very long time and we are stil not clear. Let that be a lesson to anyone reading this I definitely learned mine the hard way. Keep your dogs in EFFECTIVE flea and tick prevention all year long and definitely do preventative blood work at least once a year!
    I hope you read this!

      Thank you so much for the information and I'm so glad you were able to deal with the situation for your pup. I wonder if you live in an area where there are lots more ticks than where we live. Where we live (Pacific Northwest), ticks are very rare and the Squad never had fleas.

      Husky Squad that's awesome! You're so lucky! I live on the east coast and ticks are everywhere...I have a 4 month old husky pup...and they have the lyme vaccination, but am trying to not over vaccinate him. I give him apple cider vinegar in his water, I read that it's a natural way of repelling ticks. Love your videos!!!
