Fun fact: Quattro is fully 'turned off' in efficiency mode, and only turns on when it senses slipping wheels. In the other modes, it always sends a small amount of power to the rear wheels.
You're 100% correct 👌🏾 although I did go flying around a corner the other day and the back end slipped out - I was greeted by a ton of oversteer courtesy of the Quattro system 😂

One thing I did was to set the * button on the steering wheel to Drive Select. Which is great when I am at the lights and the car next to me is looking like he wants to have a go. @@staggabob Yes it is. Which I only realised after I posted the above. As I only had my S-Tronic TT for a few months and not realised that sport mode is also dynamic mode. I took delivery on a 2022 TTS Chronos Grey about a month ago. I always keep it in dynamic mode, I like the performance, the way it sounds ( after altering the exhaust) If I were to take a longer trip I’d probably try a different mode.
This is Jim again. I just watched your discussion on the drive modes. You never mentioned S or Sport. Is that not available in the uk? I can choose all the options that you showed and I generally run it in dynamic all the time because that gives me the best steering, shifting, sound, and overall responsiveness of the car, but that does not keep the RPM up high. When I tap the shift lever back and it goes to Sport it jumps about a thousand RPM and then everything gets super sharp and responsive. Coming into corners it down shifts just the way I would do on a manual transmission and then as I come through the corner and accelerate out once I get up to a speed I want I just tap it back again and it goes into D or drive and the RPMs come back down. So it's just like a manual downshift into a corner accelerating out through the gears and then going into overdrive for casual cruising. So listening to you and watching your videos it appears that the Sport mode is not available to you. Is this true? If any of you are buying a US model then this will all make sense as I drive in D or Drive most of the time. That is not efficiency or comfort as I always leave it in dynamic mode. When I want more performance I tap the shift lever back and it transitions to Sport Mode. I leave it in sport mode just for the performance that I want and then tap it again and it goes back into drive and the RPMs and the shift points go back to normal Drive settings . I hope this all makes sense. The difference between driving in D or S for sport is a big change. Sport mode is the place you want to be if you want to really enjoy the car. Obviously the revs are higher so then you want to get back into D for just your normal cruising. The throttle feels more flat at lower RPMs and lower throttle positions but then when you go to sport all that disappears and throttle response is instantaneous and right from the lowest revs it is sharp. Dynamic mode combined with sport is what really makes this car come alive. 😀
I just picked up a 2018 model and we do have sport. It is listed as dynamic as a car setting but that swaps the gears to S (sport). I have come to settle for selecting dynamic. Around town etc, have it in D and then on longer motorway journeys, I pull back on the shifter to pop it into S.
I just bought a reg 15 black edition quattro and the lane assist isnt on even though I ticked the box to activate it and the cockpit isnt on either......Could you tell me why ? Is it because theres no data sd card in? Thanks
I have a question. When driving in Efficiency Mode, and you then push the gear nob to the side into Manual Mode. Is that manual mode less responsive than if it was in Dynamic manual mode? So my Question is directly relating to Manual mode differences in Efficiency and Dynamic mode. Are they the same?
That's a really good question! I believe if you put it into manual it automatically puts it into a sportier mode - I'll be in the car later so I'll let you know how it responds
As promised, I did try this last night. I put the car into efficiency mode, then swapped over to manual on the DSG and the power still felt reduced. The gear shift indicator was coming up lower down in the revs telling me to change gear too.
@@JamesCF10 I havent been able to figure it out my self. I normally drive around on efficiency mode while in back streets, then i come to a main road and put it into manual mode and give it an acceleration hit to merge into and over take traffic, I find this easier then scrolling four times into dynamic mode than manual. Anyways, i thought it felt less powerful, but i wasn't sure. I think in efficiency/ manual the computer sets things so they are in efficiency. What i do like about like about driving in efficieny mode is coasting in netraual, its perfect for back streets where you cant go to fast anyways and lets the car roll. And no other mode lets you coast, not even custom. Let me know if you figure out how to coast in any other mode.
Individual just let's you choose between comfort & dynamic. Comfort is nearly always FWD and dynamic kicks a bit of the power towards the rear wheels when required
