  • A playthrough of Sierra Entertainment's 1999 trivia/party-game for the Sony PlayStation, You Don't Know Jack.
    I played two 21-question rounds of the game, one from each of the two CD games that the game shipped on. This is among the best multiplayer games on the PS1, of any genre, and retains all the humor and style that made the original Windows version such a massive success when it launched in 1995.
    The most notable feature about the game, and it's main selling point, is the strength of its writing. It's not often that a video game, especially one with SO MUCH material, shoots for comedy and nails its the great majority of the time. It's legitimately funny, the jokes rarely fall flat, and a good 95% of the time you'll find yourself legitimately laughing out loud at the nonstop barrage of non-sequiturs, puns, and massive assortment of naughty humor that rarely stoops to crass vulgarity for kicks. If you like to laugh, do yourself a favor and play this game.
    And just think - this was the game that kept Berkeley Systems afloat after everyone stopped caring about their mega-successful SCREENSAVER for Windows 3.1, After Dark. Go figure. Whatever force was at work, Jellyvision saved the day!

    If you like to laugh, you NEED to play You Don't Know Jack. It doesn't matter which edition - this PS1 port of the first entry of the series is just as strong and fresh as the most recent for the PS4, and it never grows stale somehow.
    Despite having virtually no graphics, the amazing production values and hysterical writing make it a true gem, especially with three players.

      Technically, Alex, it's a port of PC Vol. 3, but still a great edition of the long-running franchise. Mock 2 gets kinda samey after a while, so it's great to know there was another PS1 Jack game with even more questions across a whopping two discs. Not to mention this is without question Cookie's finest hour as host; always great to hear his voice in one of these games.

    For those of you who don't already know, this is actually an edited version of You Don't Know Jack 3 with no fill in the blank or gibberish questions. Also the text is edited in some areas, some of the lines are different, and you can't choose a name. There's also the whole thing where it shows you how to use the controller to play it.

    They really should remaster this one and with the advancement in memory they could even out the questions to 2000 and I really liked the 21 questions the new versions are good but too short with only 10 questions and if we do get a you don’t know Jack for the PS5 it needs to be by itself not part of a pack to me it was the best one out of the other games and this game is the best way to learn about stuff cause it is so funny lastly they should think about making online tournaments or matches to see if you know Jack better than others that would be cool

    Please tell me HOW THE HELL you managed to get this to look & feel legitimately like 60fps? Adobe Premiere?

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  5 років тому +4

      I use Vegas Pro, but any video editor can encode files at 60fps. Just make sure that it's been scaled to 720p or higher for UA-cam to display it at 60fps.

    • @StevenMcFlyJunior
      @StevenMcFlyJunior 5 років тому +1

      @@NintendoComplete I used WonderShare Video Ultimate Converter. It's usually a great program for all it does. But the POS didn't do the 60FPS. Well, the movie is 1920x1080 so dont think thays the issue. It's in 24fps to start so I tried to double it to 48. Nothing. Pushed 50. Nothing. Finally 60. Nope. So that software mustn't liken to do it?
      Also just bought this the same night I seen your video. Best Party Pack yet. Though I did like the horror one from PP3 or 4. I grew up on the first Jack for DOS/Windows thru every ... single ... version. Cookies still the best host. And I missed NetShow so this comes kinda close. Listen for the retro ads in the credits before starting a new basic YDKJ game when the end credits roll ;)

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  5 років тому +1

      @@StevenMcFlyJunior Ooh, okay. If its 24fps to start, then that's probably your source file's original framerate. If you right click on the file and look at its properties, you can look at the original file's details.
      If that's the case, you aren't going to get a proper 60fps video from it. The video might say 60fps, but it's not going to be any smoother.
      This video was originally recorded at 60fps, so that's why it looks so smooth in its movement. If it was only recorded at 30 and then scaled up to 60, it would be much jerkier.

    • @StevenMcFlyJunior
      @StevenMcFlyJunior 5 років тому

      @@NintendoComplete yeah I did a right click on file properties. :-) I'm actually a veteran PC tech of 28 years. Mostly hardware, a good bit of software but fos is new to me since 720 and above came out.
      Yeah it's apparently 24fps but I really wanted that 1080 to be a ke to make it 60fps, even if not original. Just tohave that "live soap opera feel". So no way around it?

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  5 років тому +1

      @@StevenMcFlyJunior Gotcha. If you want that effect in your video, you have to tell it to interpolate the frames. It will introduce a fair bit of motion blur though, since that's how it achieves the effect. Without blending the frames in some way, doubling the framerate will just interweave identical copies of frames between the originals and you won't see any difference.

    This game has similarities to both jeopardy! And win ben stein's money 💰 the latter because every category has a pun the former because if you play a full game like me then you play 2 rounds of 10 questions each with 1 or 2 of them being a special question and a final round known as the jack attack in this case with a single category and multiple connections
