I always felt bad for the poor rabbit, she's so full of joy, skipping, singing and dancing and she can't go anywhere but this black void, she's colorless and tries to enjoy the most simple of landscapes with weird songs in the back truly a depression filled character that deserves more love, more space to run and more colors to show.
she does get to dance to literally any song though, which is more than other video game characters get to do. Most games are limited to mostly original music, and maybe a couple licensed tracks. Also, she's a simple vector character, she fits in with the world she inhabits, the same way we fit ours. If you were brought out into some sort of 5th dimensional reality, made up entirely of things you'd never encountered before and probably can't ever understand, I don't think it would be a very enjoyable experience.

Looking at videos made with various songs, it looks it is not unfortunately able to generate good levels with any track, but it's still nice to see it has virtually endless replayability because of that function. Oh, this game looks like wonderful, challenging fun. I just love artistically unique, and surreal games. I wondered what NanaOn-Sha and Masaya Matsuura also did outside of *Parappa the Rapper* and *Um Jammer Lammy!* So abstract and simplistic, yet there is charm, and I just adore the music, and Vibri's lovely singing voice!
take a look at rhyme rider kerorican, made by the same people. The portable vib-ribbon(without the cd function) but with different characters(theres more) and a story (only in japanese)
Vib-Ribbon was a great rhythm game for the PlayStation. The game's music was composed by Laugh & Peace, which Masaya Matsuura mentioned during the creation of the game. The first two rounds use the songs Polaroid and Sunny Day, the silver medal rounds use the songs Laugh & Peace and Universal Dance, and the gold medal's rounds have the songs Overflowing Emotions and Roll Along.
Gotta love the music in this game. It's some of my favourite stuff. Also, there was an unused track for the game called Rainbow found in the files. Someone made a video compiling all of the music, you can listen to it there.
Real shame we never got this one over here. As much as I LOVED Parappa and UmJammer Lammy, this looks like it would be just as bizarre of a trip to play through.
I thought vibri was someone's oc and some youtube animations since i kept getting recommended Vibri memes, i never knew it was a 1999 game for the ps1, I'm only just finding out what it is and i love it. It looks like something created in this time, like modern.
NEVER heard or seen of this game until watching a obscure VGM mix and I'm kinda blown away on how this is on Parappa levels of music quality. The fact you could even swap out the disc for different music is also mind-blowing considering I thought only Ridge Racer did this. Hope this game gets a remake.
i feel like the reason rhythm games are becoming more popular is because friday night funkin probably introduced people to other rhythm games like this one.
Vib-Ribbon's tutorial and title music are earworms. The RAM-play allowing you to do your own tracks and CD's is innovative to the rhythm genre. All this from a PlayStation 1 game. And such a simplistic monochrome polygon wireframe 2d design.
The special gimmick for this game was that you could insert a CD and it would generate a track for you to play along to. Yoo I know whatchu mean!
Between Petscop and this, PS1 Era was truly disturbing xd
I heard a lot of good things about this game at the time of release, so I honestly thought it enjoyed more popularity and distribution - only now I learn it didn't even get an US release. Looking at videos made with various songs, it looks it is not unfortunately able to generate good levels with any track, but it's still nice to see it has virtually endless replayability because of that function.
The main soundtrack is trippy. I've heard some of the tracks over the years without knowing from where they were.
It actually does have a US release. Just buy from the PS3 store
@@trumpetmon65 Doesn't count! Personally, but yeah. Learning that we didn't get to play it first time around is still a bummer.
@@Quickdrawingartist Uh, it does count because it's been released in an official capacity.

Yes, I know. I'm just saying that I am not going to, only because of a personal bias towards digital over physical ownership of a copy of a made intellectual property. More over, aside my bias, just super butthurt that we didn't get Vib-Ribbon sooner... :(
Sorry off-topic but Kyubey pfp!
The voice is definitely some kind of prototype of a vocaloid
no,its a person

I think in 1997 there was a prototype, not sure tho.

I never thought a vector rabbit would be so cute
In the sequel she has a purple glow and her voice is even better.
The entire game is just a fever dream
If you think THIS is a fever dream, check out it's sequels, Mojib-Ribbon and Vib-Ripple.
When she stops the tutorial to explain the like double click thing it’s so cuteeee

I had nightmares when I played this as a child, it still creep me put a little.

@@coreygalbaugh8041 it's creepy
its cute
I think the reason why you were creeped out is probably because of the music and art style
idk I find it adorable
8:41 this _clear!_ screen with the little song after it is just precious
Oh, this game looks like wonderful, challenging fun. I just love artistically unique, and surreal games.
I wondered what NanaOn-Sha and Masaya Matsuura also did outside of *Parappa the Rapper* and *Um Jammer Lammy!*
So abstract and simplistic, yet there is charm, and I just adore the music, and Vibri's lovely singing voice!
I see you everywhere!
take a look at rhyme rider kerorican, made by the same people. The portable vib-ribbon(without the cd function) but with different characters(theres more) and a story (only in japanese)
These animations are insanely charismatic
I love this little happy rabbit thing... so much.
The tutorial is probably my favorite thing ever, she j us sounds so cute I can't help this Cynical heart love it so.
Yess, I've listened to it an unhealthy amount of times haha
I just want to hug her soooooo much
This feels oddly like a flash game.
Shift 3
Well shit, i cant unsee that now lol
Felt the same
@FootsoreGraph 50 I looked up in google and flash player appeared in 1996. Make sure it's right before saying something, just a tip.

Real shame we never got this one over here. As much as I LOVED Parappa and UmJammer Lammy, this looks like it would be just as bizarre of a trip to play through.
Vib's tortured scream when you hit an obstacle is a neat touch
I thought vibri was someone's oc and some youtube animations since i kept getting recommended Vibri memes, i never knew it was a 1999 game for the ps1, I'm only just finding out what it is and i love it. It looks like something created in this time, like modern.
I thought the exact same thing as you! I really like Vibri, and I will try and find more about this silly little game for the PS1.
I am VibRibbon
OC means Fanmade character.

I love this game. This game is so different and creative, that all of this is just Wow !
This game is so visually unique! It's adorable and very memorable :)
NEVER heard or seen of this game until watching a obscure VGM mix and I'm kinda blown away on how this is on Parappa levels of music quality. The fact you could even swap out the disc for different music is also mind-blowing considering I thought only Ridge Racer did this. Hope this game gets a remake.
its probably on parappa levels because this is made by the same people that made parappa
I just LOVE this games style and music, mainly the tutorial song is probably my favourite.
I've said this before, but I love how experimental the music of this game sounds. Every song is unique but shares the same vibe imo.
those animations are smoother than a baby's skin

You just gotta love how the music slows down along with her.
Also how is this suddenly becoming relevant in 2020
I just got recommended it
Considering this game is an obscure one, it's really weird we just have related videos now.

Vib-Ribbon's tutorial and title music are earworms.
The RAM-play allowing you to do your own tracks and CD's is innovative to the rhythm genre.
All this from a PlayStation 1 game.
And such a simplistic monochrome polygon wireframe 2d design.
And yet I, a game developer, am scratching my head to make a game that reads the first line from a cd in PlayStation 1
Im in love with this game art and gameplay, to be honest
