One time when I was in community college, I went to lunch at a Burger King near campus, but I went inside. My change was a little less than $5 but the cashier gave me $5 even to simplify things. They even held my dessert until was through with the rest of my meal. I went to that BK again last week and all the employees had masks and gloves. IIRC there was also a plastic or Plexiglas screen in front of the drive thru window. Some of the best fast food service I've ever had, and I'm glad to see that it's still as good as it was back then.

FUN FACT: digital “menus” make you spend more by using videos/moving images. The combination of your eyes not having enough time to see the tiny price print and only the bigger picture of the food + the feeling of having limited time to order makes you make a decision not considering the price.

Short change artists can pocket & extra $100-$200 a day & its the perfect setup--if they get caught shortchanging, they CLAIM it was a "mistake". Funny thing is, if it were a "mistake" as they claim, you'd get back too much roughly half the time--but you are almost ALWAYS shorted so there is NO "mistake".

Dont get me wrong, a lot of it is on the people who eat terribly with little to no exercise, but the govt and the economy profited and exploited, and doesn't properly and persistently warn or ban such ingredients or foods, if we get past this age of fast food, we'd realize we need better healthier food and make the economy adapt to our needs as to what it is now, which is just shoving and promoting unhealthy foods while they profit exponentially, whilst just about ALL fast food workers are paid little, workers and service people should be paid well, while professional athletes should be paid not as well as they are

DamagingSilver I work at restaurant it’s utterly disgusting how some of us Americans eat, 400lb couples think they’re eating healthy when they get a salad then drown it with 8 oz’s of ranch. People stuffing their face with fried foods and some of them are here 3-4 times a week sometimes! Going out to eat become less of a “treat” for the family and simply something people rely on now. End of a shift I don’t even want a burger, I want some fresh fruit and maybe some veggies and hummus and I’m a huge meat eater.

@@Imnotfatimhibernatin You are absolutely right. Fortunately, my mom prepared home cooked meals every day. Looking back, I definitely appreciate what she did, despite having a full-time job. We perceived take out as junk food. Therefore, it has alway been viewed as a "treat" we get every once-in-a-while. Literally, I can count on one hand how many times my mom brought us junk food as a kid (minus parties). Culturally, we've substituted junk food as our main source of nourishment. Anything that's quick, that's what we get. This change in lifestyle, plus our sedentary jobs, makes us massive.

I always find it absurd when some people would rather wait 20 minutes in a drive through line running their engine for $5 meal rather than just walk in and get it in 3 minutes. The 20 minute line completely negates the point of “fast food” which is sacrificing your long term health for short term convenience.

I actually noticed myself using drive thrus less over the years for this very reason. When a single order at mcdonalds takes 10 minutes to get in to my hand, I'm just wasting my time. I've started to notice if I go inside and order, I get my food before a single drive thru order is pumped out. It's FAST FOOD, I could care less about the customer experience, or the cleanliness?(idk how a clean drive thru effects my overall satisfaction) the only thing that matters is the accuracy and the speed.

FUN FACT: McDonalds’s first Drive-Thru was built in Sierra Vista, Arizona and is still there even though it was recently remodeled. The idea for McDonald’s to start adding Drive-Thru’s actually came from the location in Sierra Vista because of employees at the close by Fort Huachuca Army Base. So if anyone thought they did it because of competition, nope they did it cause at the time soldiers were apparently not allowed to go inside anywhere outside of the base while wearing their uniforms. A few years after the first McDonald’s Drive-Thru it became more about competition & popularity rather then having a way for those who served in the military at the time be able to get fast food. I have personally been to that location many times but don’t go there every time I go to McDonald’s because I don’t live in the area of the first one.

She was so focused on the phone call that she forgot to pick up the food on the other window and she left without realizing she left the food. When her call ended, she was looking for the food until she realized what happened. She wasn’t mad tho she was laughing so she went back to the McDonald’s. I absolutely HATE how Chic-fil-a is doing their drive through. Employees standing outside in the burning sun, freezing cold or pouring rain. Asking me what my order is. Am I supposed to know the entire menu by heart? Is there anything new? What is the price? It all just makes me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. I fear an employee is going to get a foot ran over or worse. It all reminds me of how Apple acts. "You will do as we say at wherever price we want and like it"

@@unknown-hb2to You are right. The menu card that has been passed around to others. That is just what I want to do before I eat, touch something that everyone else has touched. If only they could enlarge the menu and place it on a post outside of the vehicle so everyone can see it at once and not have to pass it around the inside of the car. That may also help to speed up service. I sat yesterday eating lunch at a different restaurant and timed a Chic-fil-a drive through. A double drive thru. Still took 13 minutes from start to finish for each car. They just break up your wait time by having you interact with an employee 3-4 times for something before you get your food and are able to eat your plain chicken sandwich with two soggy pickles. I guess if I had to wait 10-13 minutes to get a old sandwich (placed in a foil bag made 3 hours ago) I would tell everyone it was the best and worth the money and wait. But I guess if I really think about it, it is not the bread, meat and pickles alone you are paying for. It is also the smile you are paying for. For some people that IS worth the money and time.

I don't think I've ever been through a drive-thru. Deciding what you want in 30 seconds because there's a line of cars waiting behind you? No thanks.

The drive-thru isn't the problem, urban planning is, and you touched on that briefly. One major thing that would reduce the need/desire for drive-thus is density. People are never to stop eating fast food completely, but cities and countries with higher density have lower rates of obesity, people who live in urban areas tend to be healthier as adults, etc.
Plus- I think we need to adopt a model more like Japan, where you can walk into any 7-11 and get a well balanced meal for the price of a McDonalds meal, like a rice dish with a piece of fish and a side dish. Like actually making real food affordable, rather than leaving people who are in a rush/poor/without options left with nothing but fatty and crappy burgers to eat.

Can’t wait for Tesla’s robo taxi, so I can just send my car thru the drive thru alone.
We actually did an experiment on this on my channel, sending an empty Tesla on Autopilot, funny reactions.

Can't wait for McDonald's delivery drones. Causes way less traffic and uses less energy than sending a multiple ton car to the drive thru.

adam r latham back in the days, there used to folks coming to your door knocking to wake you up , functioning as alarms. Then alarms were invented and many lost their jobs, no fault of theirs. Cars came, horse carriage business went under. Different case, same old whining.

@@preciousjose i guess u didn't get that this was referring to no job is safe. No one ever said that new technology would open up better jobs for horses,u know sadly they dont get them, but replace it with ppl n magically its possible. Its not, look at any job that lost its art and y will have ppl getting unemployment cus they are too old or set in ways to learn a new career. Why should they? They worked hard learning n got good pay. Why should they go to starting pay again? No job is a guarantee sadly so no job is safe, in time the autos are going to take ur job.

its already been happening since we made the assembly line into robots and 6 guys making cars. self driving cars will make at least 3 million jobs gone, and while some job loss was accepted ie autos that went into coal mines and got coal out without someone getting the black lung, no ones going to care abour thay worker when hes unemployed, only if he had black lung. Automtion has already beat the best of us, and the only thing which we have a sad advantage over them is utilizing our own body in a good enough way. Exemple dexterity. This will put most in demand jobs into those that are popular n not meant to have hundreds of millions. You can name a few good therapists, and philosophers, but these jobs arent something the mass majority will be ok with doing. You might think your a special snowflake n ur job is safe for 30 yrs, but ur employer wants cheaper, since he cant break labor laws with u, he will go to a machine that he can make do work for only the electric it uses. A machine that will work 24,7 365 takes no time off, no breaks, doesnt make mistakes or slows down. if u think its not so ,ask any car insurance company what is the perfect customer. They all will tell you, its a customer that pays thier premiums on times and has 0 accidents. Pretty much they make money n do 0 work. The ultimate entitled job. The wuestion isnt when will the robots take over, but how do we determine value with lil to no one employed.

Crypt Keeper yes and no I guess. Americans eat at McDonald’s to get fat lol while Canadians go there to spend some family time and trust me a full meal (menu) in canada is way more expensive . And the food is way better. We Americans get the junk version while the rest of the world gets the good food

They need to merge safe nutritional guidelines into their transaction apps in order to avoid killing off customers through stroke, heart attack, and cancer induced nutrition woes.
