What’s killing Papa Johns is the fact that their service is horrific. No matter where I’ve gone, and given them a chance, the delivery order is wrong and never any accountability. I eventually just gave up and have stopped ordering. The pizza is actually very good but not worth the hassle in getting the order right and delivered on time.
I'm sorry :-( I rem that experience with dominos it was a nightmare. My local PJ hasn't failed me yet tho.
That’s more of a store thing than a brand thing, the first store I ever worked at with papa johns was absolute hell, it was me and my manager running the whole show and you know damn well we messed up some nights. The next papa John I worked at, near my college, was much more organized and we barely got any complaint calls back

I quit ordering Papa John's several years ago because I my opinion the quality had fallen off far too much. It used to be my favorite.
COOLBIAN57 pizza from any chain type pizza places like papa John’s, dominos, little ceasers are all trash pizza, it’s like eating rubber. I guess it depends where you live, because it’s NEVER even crossed my mind to order from one of these places, but I’m spoiled living in NYC which has the best pizza on the planet.

Part of the recovery is the economy. Domino's and others had cheaper pizza while people were penny pinching.
Some Guy I dunno. Pizza is always a razor thin margin business. Neighborhood pizza is generally the best, though more expensive. In a high competition marketplace, the quality is rarely going to be head and shoulders. So value is the way to go.
Alot of the brick and mortar pizza joints offers things many franchises do not have, like pizza by the slice or even a full bar. Some are even open after the bars close which you cannot get with a franchise like Domino's. It's all about filling a need.
I’d prefer going to a local pizza shop than Papa John’s for quality.
Except the price of domino's is cheaper but delivering charge is 4 bucks where I'm at.

At my local Papa John's you can get a large carry-out pizza for $6.99 (USD) at lunch time and delivery is between $15-$20 depending on what I get.

I worked full and part time for Papa John's for about 12 years. I met him on 3 occasions all of which he was already or proceeded to get embarrassingly drunk, treated employees like dirt and was inappropriate with female employees. Nuff said.

My family got Papa John's almost every Friday for 20 years until recently, since they kicked out the founder the quality has gone so far downhill that we get pizza elsewhere now
Every time i've ordered from them in the past 20 years the pizza was awful. It's dry and bland, from Nashville to Pensacola and finally to Chicago where I've lived since 2009 it's the same dreadful garbage every time. The only redeeming feature used to be their crust but they changed that a couple of years ago and now the whole thing is inedible. I mean seriously, why do they only put a tablespoon of sauce on their pizzas?

As someone who has worked and mastered the pizzas at Papa John's, Pizza Hut and Domino's, I must say that a good and fast pizza relies on who is preparing it.
Of course working like a carrying mule and being paid the same does take its toll on your motivation.
The rest depends on good marketing and business strategy.

That was my attitude after 2017. They admittedly were my favorite pizza, though I couldn't afford them much. After everything hit the fan with the CEO, I definitely wasn't eager to purchase them. But even if the former CEO isn't part of the corporate side of the company, I believe he still owns shares so he's still getting money off of the company. And so long as that's happening, I'm not buying.

I stopped buying Papa Johns a few years ago when Schnatter said he wouldn't provide health insurance to his employees because he would have to raise the price of a pizza 11 cents. Also because he's a ardent Trump supporter. Apparently he doesn't realize that around 50 present of his potential customers can't stand Trump and won't knowingly buy anything a Trump supporter sells, including me.

The watershed moment for me was when I spoke to a Papa John's district manager about their quantity of toppings and basically he told me that the larger pizza you order, the less toppings you are actually getting due to their "formula". So if you buy a Large pizza w/ triple Italian Sausage, you aren't actually getting triple toppings. It's a rip-off.

It's more expensive than PH, Dominos and LC. They never run any nationwide deals and the quality is not as good as PH and Dominos. Literally the only thing they have going for them is the garlic sauce. There's absolutely no reason I'd choose them over their competition. Price, convenience or taste. I'd choose good quality frozen pizza over them.

Little Caesar's is making bank off of idiot consumers who think they're getting a solid deal. Light airy crust and hardly anything on top because of how they ration the cheese and sauce. You'd be better off paying the extra dollar to pickup a large 2 topping from the hut. Coming from a former Caesar's GM.

When Papa John's should be rebranded due to 2 reasons. The ex-CEO is giving the brand linggering negative image and it's because it doesn't make sense that someone who founded a companu was kicked out of his own company. Although here in Southeast Asia Papa J stores are still going strong like maybe stronger than Dominos but just behind Pizza Hut if I may say.
What happened was they got rid of the guy who cares about pizza and replaced him with people who only care about making money. The pizza absolutely SUCKS now.

Ever since Domino's upped their flavor/quality game it has been hard to go anywhere else. The app is simply awesome and their prices are some of the best. They also have decent variety which actually tastes pretty darn good.
Domino's is killing it in the Mid-Atlantic.
I have yet to see a Domino's that I count as pizza.
Pizza the Hut - sometimes, but NOT during the late TriCorp era.
Little Caesars - blows Domino's AND Pizza the Hut out of the water, and are making inroads on Papa John's

Last year I had the worst food poisoning from eating Papa Johns. I was hospitalized had to get a ambulance called to my house. I never ordered from them again. NEVER again!!!!
I have been operating a Papa John’s store for 17 years. There are thousands of stores and mine is just one but my store has had sales growth every year. I’ve never been negative. Well maybe one time around the housing crash of 2008. It’s currently doing better than ever. I saw my biggest jump in sales when John made all those comments that got people upset. I know some stores took a hit then but the people in my area were very supportive of John and thought he was being mistreated.
John is the man!!!
