This might be a selfish thought, but I think the writers understood that the audience who watched the original show had grown up and wrote this show for us and our matured palettes. It was a 10/10 show. Can’t wait for Season 2.
And they knew what they was doing getting our older sibling by adding all them damn characters.

They. Took. Their. Time. They knew what the people wanted and gave it to us full force. I was throughly impressed and my jaw was on the floor the last half of the show man. I can’t wait for the next season and they BETTER NOT RUSH IT.
I cared about the characters. I cared about what made them feel- the villain made sense…the hurt, the turmoil, the everything. This show was what reboots/continuing shows should be. Just make a good show. Do your research, take your time and give us all the things. They gave US ALL THE THINGS!!!

🎯Even the Mojo story added to the overall story and also good character development for Jubilee and Sunspot. The cameos set it apart from the other Disney plus shows. No one ever shows up in the other shows.

X-Men has always held a special place in my heart as one of my favorite Marvel series. It's a shame that they never seemed to get the attention or justice they deserved, especially in the movies. With all the disappointments I've experienced in the past, I didn't have high hopes for X-Men '97. However, this show surprised me and rekindled my love for the series. I found myself enjoying every episode and feeling a sense of joy while watching. Your X-Men review videos were also a great source of entertainment for me and I’m definitely going to miss them.

LONG time X-Men fan,grew-up reading the comics and this new-X-series is-GREAT. Wish the X comics coming out today were written like this new series.Now can't wait for the MCU X-Men to hit the silver screen when ever that is.
Mojo episode was definitely not as important but I love the “Gotta Grow Up and look towards the future” message we all needed to be reminded
This show is a love letter to the original fans of the show. The content is not for young children it's for people who have been reading comics since they were children.
Tony don’t forget about the score, the music throughout the whole season was perfect. Just perfect!

The Gambit episode was hard to top but they kept the quality high throughout save for that one off episode with the video game dude.
Right on bro!! I loved the series. Especially Morph utilization of character choices was everything!!! And I love how they incorporated the entire MCU from Cap, Iron Man, Spidey, Daredevil just to name a few!!!
From the remastered music, to the updated animation, to the deeper exploration into characters this was a home run all the way and in many ways better than some of the movies. The writers do a good job of giving everyone a chance to shine and at the same time raise the stakes by introducing death. Every fight could be someone's last and so they fight like it. This is a world class love letter to X-Men and comic book fans, period.....
I've been a die hard Gambit fan since '92, so "Remember It" was my favorite episode of the season...can't wait for his return as "Death" in season 2

And the mid credit scene with ya boy apocalypse and that gambit card. Reminded me of the ending of Batman begins when Gordon flipped over that joker card 😮💨😮💨😮💨

💯 agree! I'm 46 and feeling exactly how got are. this was the best project marvel has put out EVER! All the cameos....... Mojo one was silly and fun. I don't mind that here and there.
I agree. I didn't grow up with X-Men and ...tbh kinda found them lame (I didn't like the outfits 😂), but comics explained put me onto their stories so I was decently excited for the series. But maaaaan... They had pristine storytelling, pristine dialogue, pristine balance the new and nostalgic, pristine action. Everything was pristine. And I'm glad they did Magneto justice. I know back then he was mainly framed as an extremist with few valid points but in this series they really let his ideology shine.
Disney Marvel just does anti-heros/villains right!

Mojo ep was straight fan service for those who players and loved old school six player arcade game. It was nice but we didn't need a full episode
Nightcrawler is my favorite X-men character of all-time and has been criminally neglected. I am absolutely thankful for them incorporating him into this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 NEED MORE!! 😂😂😂 ..bring back Gambit too tho

I've been rewatching the original series so I can binge 97. This is going to be a great summer!
There is a episode on how they got original cast back and found new ppl to voice certain characters its amazing
I didn’t think they would ever animate Wolverine getting admantium pulled out.
Just the theme song alone was worth the admission. Incredible writing and visual presentation. Definitely wrote that show for adults and it's about time we had a mature cartoon with a good time sprinkled in.

X-Men comics made me become an English major and published writer. The og cartoon was one of the highlights of my youth and ‘97 is the greatest chef’s kiss, a true love letter to us diehard X-Fans.
Love you Tony Baker...no Diddy, BUT without that Mojo half episode, we don't get to see Jubilee grow up...literally. I think we all have to agree if that girl would of shone like she did in the finale like she did, we would've felt it was unearned. She had her own training arc on her birthday, and it was a nostalgic showing for those arcade fans...lol...just who Jubilee always was. Peace.
Chile, X-Men '97 was what I needed to get through things. I laughed, cried, was surprised by a few things. I am cautiously waiting for the next season and the next and so on.

Was very happy to see nightcrawler again. Love me some Magneto but he was raggedy for that business with Rouge. That Madelyn-Jean thing was crazy but Scott was a bozo for how he acted towards Jean after they finally got her back. Love me some Storm too, I’m glad she was able to get her powers back, and I’m happy to have the professor back but sad he had to leave his happy ending and the love of his life because they was acting up on earth 😒🤦🏾♀️
Excellent review Tony, you captured the summary of the whole season perfectly. Absolutely 5 saxophones! I'm 47 too bro, so I completely understand how you feel about this series. This is my Saturday morning childhood, because my older brother collected comics and they were some of the first things I could read, when I was in school. My favorite episode was when Magneto ripped Wolverine's adamantium out based on the comics issue entitled "Fatal Attractions". This episode also teased the Onslaught storyline. My second favorite episode was the season finale, with N'Sabnur aka Apocalypse where they teased the Age of Apocalypse storyline with Scott and Jean in the future. They even hinted by showing the golden citadel behind Apocalypse in the past, which belongs to Rama-Tut; a version of Kang the Conqueror who went back in time to adopt Apocalypse and guarantee his survival. Only because he knows how Powerful Apocalypse will be in the future.
Now I'm a kid again. That part 💯

just FYI the origanl show runner and team already got the script for S2 done (wich makes the firing sus IMO.) so good chance its going to still be good (that and I mean it takes a team and the rest are still involved)

I might have to say, Magnus was the star of the first season. Every monologue was wonderful.
I am team Magneto!! Professor X violated his best friend Magnus mind. I'm surprised Magneto revived from that ordeal immediately saving earth. What bothers me is there was no real mention from the humans of addressing the Sentinels involvement! Seems all blame and aggression were against mutants. Show season deserved at least three more episodes. Seemed rushed towards the end. Still outstanding. Still want more. TY.
Love the season. Great recap. Love the amen series and comic since I was like 5yrs reading the comics books. The series was great had me like okay!!!! Waking up my kids😂😂😂. But I really enjoyed the series. Definitely recommend ppl to watch

I watched the original along with ‘97. I realized I never watched the original before. I only remember the theme song. I finished the old one and said Professor X couldn’t have died that way. The next episode of ‘97 was the one that showed he was still alive
