In case anyone is still watching this video: I own one of these which I also picked up from the very warehouse he is at in this video. I've ridden it to and from work for almost 3 years now. Only 2 things have gone wrong mechanically and both were easy to fix. First was that the throttle assembly snapped right off the handlebars but Voltbike shipped me a new one for a good price (I was past warranty) and it goes back on super easy with quick-disconnect wiring and some screws. I've also had to bleed the brakes due to air getting inside them. They work just fine afterwards. I ride my Metro pretty rough. Lots of big hills, +30c, -5c, all year. The only thing I don't do is get it wet. I keep mine dry when possible. It's not fast, it's not light, it's not fancy... but it's cheap and it doesn't give a shit. It just works.
try switching out the SLA for a LiFePO ₄. Breathes new life into it- reduces weight and a eliminates voltage sag so it doesn't slow down to a crawl after 15 or so miles
I bought a Rad2Go Sunbird over 10 years ago. Very similar, except the batteries are split with 3 under my feet and 3 under the seat. This lets the pedals be mounted farther forward, so in a better position for pedaling. It only has a 250 watt motor so definitely needs help starting and on hills. I am 5’10”, 200’ and sit farther back on the seat. Fun little machine.

I have one very similar to this one, have had it for over seven years, have had to replace the batteries once because my charger light went out and I fried the batteries. Don't know what kind it is, because I don't read Chinese. Gets me around but you're not going to depend on it for very long distances without recharging it. Takes a few hours to fully charge it. A mistake some people make is trying to travel in heavy traffic, since it only goes 20mph you will find this very difficult. I usually take the back way when I can.
I'm traveling 12 miles to work and back from work, is it better for me to get a 500 watt 1000 watt or 2000 watt electric scooter ? And which 1 will have a better performance ?

+radbcc The range of Voltbike Metro+ is around 60km on one charge on flat surface which is very high. Mainly because the bike is not that heavy compared to similar other scooters. It takes around 5 hours to fully charge the battery if completely empty. The battery is quite big at 48V 20Ah. Voltbike Metro is great bike and we have great support if you need any parts. You can see more details here: www.voltbike.ca/voltbike-metro-plus/voltbike-metro-plus-red.html

Hello everyone, it's almost my second year at college and I am really thinking of buying one of these.. So the questions that I have is Can it fit 2 people and ride with ease both on flat roads and hills? After some time the batteries need to be replaced? If so, how often and how much does it cost ? Thanks everyone who will answer have a great day
Is there a way to increase the brightness of the turn signal lights for broad daylight? I'm wondering if it is possible for drivers to see the turn signals clearly. Thanks in advance.
You can make the scooter reach upto 60kmh(DOWNHILL) maybe 40-50kmhon straight roads, by simply unplugging the ''SAFETY WIRE'' This wire is the wire that sets the max speed of the scooter to 30 but by ''Cutting it'' (its really close to the throttle sometimes under the panel at front) it will reach much higher speed, this is illegal but the chanches of police giving you a ticket for this is minimal. Just a little tip for all you Fast n furious people there
+dznrboy That is a great question... I am always amazed with how much extra stuff you get (front and rear lights, turn signals, fenders, nice plastic body, wireless security and start, locking storage etc.) and it's CHEAPER than an ebike? Maybe they are just making so many of these in China that the price has dropped due to economies of scale? Maybe there are really high margins on ebikes because people in America are used to paying more? You can get some pretty solid electric bicycles from Voltbike but even they are more expensive than this electric scooter. It's crazy because this is so much heavier, there is more material here and that has to cost more... I'm not sure but you ask a very good question :)
+dznrboy Voltbike Metro electric scooter is more affordable because of the less expensive battery it use. The 48V 20Ah Lead-Acid battery is few times cheaper than comparable Li-ion battery. On the other side the motor is gearless, the frame is solid steel etc. And Voltbike Metro Plus is great bike with great support. It proved to be very reliable. Out of hundreds sold we never had single issue with either motor or the battery. It just works. Simple and reliable.
+dznrboy Supply and demand will always have a large influence on the price paid for something so keep that in mind. That said bikes and I assume ebikes typically have higher tolerances on parts than a moped. More precision in manufacturing costs a lot more money. Additionally you pay a lot more for a lower weight as the materials used with be of a higher and more expensive grade. For example, a lead acid battery will weigh much more than a Li-ion, but will also be much cheaper. Finally, in order to have a nice look in a more confined amount a space different and often more expensive manufacturing methods will need to be used.
+James Bezzina Bezzina.Co Ha! Probably with a bit of work and if they sold it on an 18" wheel. Wiring it up and getting everything setup would definitely take some time and skill ;)

you don't need plates for it....as long as you have the peddles on the bike.....I found out if you don't have the peddles mounted on the ebike you can get a motorcycle fine and at that point you would need a motorcycle licence....but as long as you have the peddles mounted and wear a helmet you will be fine without needing plates or a licence
dear god this man is 5'9" 135lbs and he looks like a bear on a unicycle on this thing! ~~~~~ I have a Schwinn S350 electric scooter with a 750 lumen headlight, LED tail light, side view mirror, smart phone swiveling mount, basket, bottle holder which i use to house a 5 watt bluetooth speaker, and a simple locking cable. I got the scooter on craigs list for $100, battery was bloated and wouldnt hold a charge so the seller actually spent $110 on a new one for me when i told her about that issue. So ya the whole set up was just over $190 bucks (woulda been 300 if i paid for the battery). it folds easily, it weighs 58-65lbs, goes 18 mph on level ground with a 165lb rider (now that it has a new and seemingly more potent duracell 24v setup even though it's technically the same output) and, lastly, it goes about 8-12 miles on a charge - that metric is heavily dependent on rider weight/cargo and the type of terrain travelled on, tire pressure, even the weather seems to influence the range. Battery stores carry replacement electric scooter batteries, when the kind woman who sold this to me bought replacements they were model specific and required knowledge or directions to install. very straightforward.
Looks like the rider wouldn't notice the added weight of using lead acid batteries, and the cost of replacement batteries is cheap compared to lithium.
Yhe biggest issue with this bike may be the lead acid battery. Unlike lithium ion batteries, lead acid batteries can only be discharged to half their amp hour rating. Otherwise they will be damaged. So this 20 amp hour battery should only give you 10 amp hours. That is not much for a 150 pond ebike.
I'd rather have a standard electric bicycle TBH as it's so heavy. As you have as much dead weight as another human, it better have a super long range battery hopefully an enormous lithium ion not just a bulky lead acid. But I could buy 10 48V 17.5Ah lithium ion batteries like on mine and still not weigh 150 lbs. Then I'd have 300 mile range (And 80 hour charge time lmao unless I used 10 chargers). But reading the description it seems like that enormous 62 lb battery has less capacity than my single battery pack. Also I'd probably get tired of police going "where's your moped plates?" and "Does it have a licence?" despite being slower than my electric bike, of which I can make full use of the pedals and 7 gears (I beat my friend on a MTB in a race using only pedal power on the 56lb bike) so I don't lug the motor on hills.
hi um I have electric bike but it needs to be texting to DMV how do I make it legal without a serial number on making model number for tags in New York

its odd. for a cheap E bike in the UK is about £500, but these are £1000!! then again next on the list is Ebikes that are £2000+ which is ridiculous for what they are. what surprises me is you can get a petrol powered moped for only £500, so cheaper than this electric one and cheap Ebikes!
