Thank you from sharing your, very important story. I was diagnosed initially of an aggressive breast cancer THIRTY FOUR YEARS AGO!!! While I have had four reoccurrences and a total mastectomy, I am still here. I can tell from your interview you are a strong woman who will kick cancer’s butt!!! 🤬. Loving and healing thoughts are all around you!!!❤️❤️❤️
Respectfully putting this on the radar: a company called Oncorix is running an observational study in California for their product, a functional mushroom and cannabis capsule, as an integrative approach to breast cancer. It passed trials in Israel, showed to minimize the symptoms of chemo and accelerate tumor shrinkage in specific types of breast cancer. It might be worth checking out if you, or anyone reading this, are being treated in California. Sign up is on their website. You got this, Jill, you're so brave. 💚
Jill, I’m 49 years old. Was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Had a bilateral mastectomy in March. The breast cancer I was diagnosed with was estrogen progesterone positive. My genetic testing came back negative as far as risks although my paternal aunt had breast cancer and a 2nd maternal cousin. It is better on the other side of this. Know that God has you and the love from your family and friends will help you get through this.
Did you have both mammogram and ultrasound with testing? How often are American’s tested? We are tested here in Australia every two years but I’m opting now for ultrasound also. Had both mother and grandmother died from breast cancer.
@@australiamyway I have had an annual mammogram since age 40. It came back abnormal last year. I had a diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound then a biopsy in February 2023. The biopsy confirmed diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma in my right breast. The genetic testing came after this initial work up.
Adding you to my warrior prayer list. I am a 13 year survivor, went through a tough surgery and treatment....but I am still kicking at 66. You have many people praying for you and they will be by your side from all over the world. Prayers for stength and healing.
I wish her the best, and she is very fortunate that it was found early. I've been in her shoes, and that first few months after being diagnosed and having to process so much information was the hardest.
Sending you lots of love and healing vibes Jill. I am also BRCA 1. I had my preventative hysterectomy in January, and my preventative mastectomy is next month. You got this my BRCA Sister!!!!!!
Rooting for you Jill! I am also positive BRCA mutation and I'm 30. It's a tough thing to deal with I know. Sending you positive energy for recovery. Love you Jill been watching you on Today since my 20's
Facing potential mortality is scary. I had triple negative breast cancer and seeing Jill I see a lot of the emotions I had when first diagnosed. This pink sister is sending Jill positive vibes
I haven't watched the Today Show much in the past few years, but I loved her makeover segments. I appreciate when they share their personal trials, my heart goes out to her.
Aww Im so sorry for what you are going through, and the stress and worry about your folks. We dont want those we love to worry about us but they will WANT to be there for you and help in any way possible. I believe You have saved lives today by encouraging us to get this testing. You will see and hear testimony of this Im sure of it. Much prayer and sending love to you and your family Jill.❤🙏
Ms Jill? I send you hugs, and I send you my wishes for your continued strength, courage and hope to push on and never fkng give up your fight. Thank you for shining a light on this disease and for encouraging others to get tested. You've got this, woman! There ain't no stopping you now - NONE! Be strong. Be courageous. Be well. God bless you always. 💐🙏🏽
Bless your heart! I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I hope how soon all your surgery is behind you and you're healed. Take care and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Sending good vibes, prayers of support, and thank you for sharing your message. May the love of family and friends surround and support you through this journey. ❤
Jill You are amazing god bless you for sharing to help others I am praying for you and your Dad and Hoda went through this as well You are in my prayers
Girl I was just diagnosed too Jill, we will be fine, it is an out of body experience, me too it happened fast after going through waiting since 2018, we will be fine, 🙏🏽
Jill, I’ll be praying for you as you travel this new medical journey! I did this exact same surgery along with hysterectomy in 2018, due to positive BRCA gene. No cancer, simply preventative. Interesting fact: my mother has the BRCA gene, both her twin sister and her mother passed from cancer! My twin sister tested negative, but my daughter tested positive as well. You can do this!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh Jill. I'm so sorry, but I think you are going to be just fine.We love you. prayers are up for you. You got this.we are here with you and your family
Jill, thank you so much for sharing your personal story. You have made me think that I need to get the genetic testing. Thank you so much for your honesty. What a sweet soul you are. May God bless you and hold you in his arms in the days ahead.💗
I had a 7cm lump and after 2 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds and they told me ' you are fine'... I asked to see a doctor and after a biopsy they confirmed I had cancer... So scary...
BRCA positive as well. My breast cancer was caught at 32. My mom & aunt died from it. At the time of mine, I didn't know I was positive. After my sister died of ovarian (she was positive too) I finally got tested. All four women (sisters) have had breast cancer although only two tested positive. I had a mastectomy at 32 and a hysterectomy at 53. I'm 55 now and do not have to worry anymore. To all of us who have been through or are going through it now; stay strong pink sisters!
So sorry to hear this. My mother had many sisters with many daughters. One of my aunts had 3 daughters and 4 sons. All 3 daughters had breast cancer. We found out that my uncle by marriage's mother had breast cancer. So, since I have so many girl cousins these sister's no doubt carried the gene from their dad's side. Prayers for Jill.
I survived stage 3 melanoma. Breast cancer does not run in my family , but I have my mammograms regularly. Had mine done last August, got a call back, biopsies on both breasts, IDC on right, DCIS on left....had my DMX in December, turned out I had cancer in both breasts. I do not carry the BRCA gene, not sure where this even came from . I finished my chemo in April and finished my 20th round of rads today, have 10 more to go. I try to stay positive, but there are times I want to just cry and scream. I am grateful that mine was caught early, but , my Oncotype DX came back high, so I worry.
My mom was diagnosed in 2017 with stage 3b. She passed this year. My sister and I were tested. I don't carry the genes neither do our parents. My sister does carry both of the genes and opted for elective surgeries for everything. Her scans were clear at each step. On the day of her mastectomy, they found two different types of aggressive cancer in both breasts! They were able to remove it all and she's been on a chemo pill for the past four years. Get checked out! I go in every six months because of our history.
I had a benign breast cyst with a radial scar that was found in surgery when removing the cyst, my Surgeon said that if radial scars are not removed it can turn cancerous down the road. I now have to have an MRI every 6 months for the next 2 years. Unfortunately when trying to get BRACA/ Genetic testing my insurance said there is a whole sheet of criteria that MUST be met, and if not met insurance will NOT cover the testing. Also my family history showed my aunt on my mom's side has had breast cancer x 3!!! Unacceptable! I also want to ad in my situation my mammogram showed normal, when i had a US for dense tissue a hard nodule was found, so now i really advocate for doing both, mammogram and US as the mammogram did NOT pick up the nodule! My report stated normal, nothing found which was also scary.
It's so phucked up when three generations of a family get decimated. I deeply believe we can be better for women in this area. I believe she will get through this.
I am stage 4 breast cancer, and my oncologist had me do genetic testing. I carry the BRCA2 gene mutation, which I too inherited from my dad. Sadly we didn’t know in time to save my life, but because I did get tested so have my children. Both of my daughters inherited the mutation from me, and both are doing the preventative surgeries. So honestly I thank God everyday that I did get breast cancer, gels so strange to say that, but had I not, my girls would not have known. We all say we would gladly give our lives for our children. Well, I am gladly giving my life for my children. By the way genetic testing is not super expensive, and both my oncologist and the genetics company that did my testing say everyone should have genetic testing. Mine was 84 panel, so tested for everything. Just think of how many lives could be saved if everyone was given the same chance my girls now have.
Not everyone is able to have the BRACA test, I had a second cousin pass away with breast cancer at 35 years of age and since no other women had breast cancer I didn’t qualify for the test.

I am BRCA 1 positive and had breast cancer at age 27. Luckily mine was caught early. I have been cancer free since. I am 60 now! Get the test if you are at high risk
I had DCIS in one breast, had bilateral mastectomy and they found DCIS in the other breast upon pathology. Unfortunately both the mammogram and breast MRI didn’t pick up the DCIS in the other breast- it was quite small. I know from friends that a lot of oncologists ( including mine) don’t recommend bilateral mastectomy because they think the other breast is healthy. You have to be your own advocate and do what is best for your body.

Thanks God!
Being a BreastCancer survivor Yes by all means get tested for the gene but not all insurance companies will cover the cost of the test. My sister is a R.N. She told me it like a $3000.00 test.
@@vernettaricks2452 Yes I know my sister told me this about 7-9 years ago so I’m sure the cost of the test has gone up since then but I wish you luck. 🥰😘

I'm very glad that you found out but how can people with no health benefits afford these tests
It’s so important to know that brca, braf, cdk4, and lynch syndrome don’t just cause women’s cancers. Genetic testing needs to be easier to obtain.
