    I wouldn’t walk into someone else’s house and start telling them what I didn’t like and what they could have done differently, my mother didn’t bring me up that way. I really admire your work ethic and attention to detail Joe, it all looks fantastic.

    Northern Seclusion fans, stand with me now as we offer Joe a rousing standing ovation for an excellent job well done. The awful, disparaging feeling of the damaged house, touched many times by a master's hand, is now once again a home, and beautiful at that. I tip my hat to you good sir, most excellent work and worthy of "THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE". Worked your butt off, day in and day out. Thanks for sharing this journey Joe. Hope your trip back north went / goes well. Your own bed is gonna feel sooooo goooood. At least til 4 am when you gotta get up and get at the chore list waiting!

    I love the fact you guys are keeping the house as a winter/vacation getaway. It is paid for therefore no pressure. You did an outstanding job. The kitchen is to die for. The corner pantry really upscaled the room. Thank you for sharing this with us. You are a true craftman. Just a outstanding job to the both of you. I love everything you did to the house. The colors and flooring and all the rest is just beautiful. Hats off to all the others lending a hand paid and volunteers.

    I am so proud of you Joe. You are a very patient person. I sensed very little frustration/aggravation from you, but sometimes a person only hears what they want to hear. Then as you pointed out, the area you are in had a flood plan in effect. It wasn't until the pumps stopped that the damages began to take place, all of which were out of your hands. It was sad to see someone who worked hard for their money have to suffer a loss like that. But look at the beautification/restoration the home came through. It is hard for someone to understand because they don't live in an area like that. Thank you so much for sharing. Have a safe 1400 mile trip back.

    Joe I totally agree with the pantry door being a different color then the cuboards!! I’ve done a bunch of kitchen remodelings over the years & not a one that I did were the same color as the cuboards!! I’m thinking that people don’t realize that the door is for a pantry & not part of the cuboards!! Looks very good Joe!! It’s not your first rodeo!!

    The house looks amazing Joe!! Excellent job. About the pantry door and other issues people have. You and Melissa are keeping the house so all the interior colour schemes and such are based on your tastes, so other people can't make that call saying something doesn't look right. I have seen some things I thought were horrendous but the person living in the place just loved it. That is all that really matters is that you guys love the end product. I for one, think it looks great, especially compared to what it looked like after the flood.

    I live in a very remote area. I never lock my front door when I'm gone. Like you said if someone wants "in", there's a hundred ways to gain access. Besides if the front door was locked and they decided to get through it, that would be one more thing to fix. Great job on the house Joe.

    Sgt. Roos, John T. (Ret.) What a transformation!:) I'm so sorry that I thought you two should sell it. I thought that a 'Century' flood would be all that I'd need to sell, but I did grow up in MN, too, and tornados are a much bigger deal up North. I was born at North Memorial Medical, in MNPLS, MN, in 1965. We lived in Crystal, MN until 1975. We then moved to Wadena, MN until I went to the USMC in 1987. I'm living at Trinka Davis Veteran's Village, in Carrollton, DA. I hope to be able to get out in a year. I so admire how you and Melissa have lived your lived, and I hope I can do the same, once I get out... Semper Fidelis

    Like most folks, I got hooked on JoeandZachSurvival from the Tent videos. Then I got hooked on NorthernSeclusion watching Joe fixing up the whole Minnesota property. With that said, it's been a LONG time since we got to see Joe fixing up the workshop at the Minnesota house. Watching you fix up that old building have become my favorite videos of yours. Can't wait for more. Need to see you sitting by the fire out there with Jony in the old recliners. Also, I'd like to see more videos like this where you reply to comments. Gives a lot of insight on why you do the things you do.

    • @piperlynne1
      @piperlynne1 3 роки тому +4

      Nope, I don't like open shelves either. They just get messy and dusty and you are always having to make the items on the shelves look nice and then you have to keep taking everything off to clean the shelves and things that don't get used often. If you have doors it keeps the dust down and you don't always have to make what's inside the cabinet look pleasing so you can hide a bit of mess if you need to.

    I think the pantry door would look great with a blackboard door to use as a recipe plans and shopping list. Also the space between the pantry and fridge would make a great coffee and tea station. Well that’s my 2 cents worth 🤣

    You know something Joe that kitchen on its own has more real estate than my whole flat put together, so I'm glad to hear you intend keeping it on as a residential winter home. Cheers mate for the update - now get back up to the farm and see to what is needed.

    The house looks amazing and moving the fridge over to the other side was a great idea. I am looking forward to seeing your next project.
    I live in South Alabama, we deal with the hurricanes, torrnados , but it's those storms that comes through with those straight line wind which causes a lot of damages. . . We all have some type of weather to deal with regardless of where we call home.

    I love the house. I saw it just after the flood and thought Oh My! What a mess! I meant to mention in the other video, you were eating new years day food with Melissa's mom. Here in SC and GA we eat collards and black eyed peas for money & good luck. We always eat pork, they root forward for food, never chicken that scratches backwards for it's food. My friend is from Pittsburgh and they have sauerkraut & wieners. I'm glad you are keeping the house. I am hoping that one day you & Melissa will travel there together with the dogs. It all seems to be you or her going alone now. I guess when the works is done you can go and enjoy it. HUGS~Donna

    I agree with everything your saying on your choses for the house. Great choses. I forgot all about it. We live in northern Colorado. In the end of 2013 we got over 13 inches of rain in 5 days. It was called a 1,000 year flood. We were very lucky that the flooding that happen ran of out lot but all around us it flooded for over a week. I felt so sorry for our town of Longmont. That flood in 2013 is rated the #7 worst flood in the US history.

    The house is beautiful. You and Melissa did a great job. Ignore those who seem to know it all. Your work is second to none.
