      The unspoken bit was:
let less food be a medicine,
let limited food types be a medicine,
let no food in day light hours be a medicine,
let no toxic additives or factory (Veg,Oil) ingredients be a medicine, ....
this is what Hippocrates was on about. Sorry, so many inconvenient food things, all the sugar... and doctors never tell people.

This needs to be shared everywhere, and shouted from the rooftops (which I know is what you’re doing to by sharing such content). So many suffering without hope, and this provides - at a minimum - the hope they need. Beyond that, it seems like keto has the power to provide them actual healing too. Astounding stuff. Thank you for your efforts to educate people on this topic.

Have you listened to the very real stories of suffering and recovery on this video?
Have you ever seen the animals scramble on vegetable farms? When I drive my tractor across the pasture, and mow, more animals are killed than when I allow cows to graze.
We can reduce the suffering of humans and animals and find a natural balance.
This comment probably won’t change your mind, but maybe you’ll consider taking a vitamin B supplement, since you’re probably deficient.

@@metabolicmindThank you, I just found this channel today, and already I subbed!
I haven't had the chance to check out all your videos yet (of course) so I just wanted to ask if you've discussed the wide variety of ways people can be keto?
I'm asking because my pic is me, now, but I used to be obese (it's awfully easy, at my diminutive height, to cross the BMI line from "overweight" to "clinically obese"). I was also tired and sluggish and always hungry -- even after eating a whole serving BOWL (for a family!) of rice, or an entire large pizza, or six packages of ramen. . . carby stuff always.
And I used to think that I couldn't go keto because I thought it required one to eat specific foods (like steak, for instance) but when I learned I could choose anything natural as long as it's carb-free, that was a paradigm shift for me.
It took me about two years to get to the healthy BMI where I've stayed ever since; HOWEVER, long before my weight normalized, my energy was SO much better on keto! It's like getting a new energy source I never knew I could tap into. 🤗

@@Osc1llateW1ldly You can be keto without eating animals! I am, and it's vastly improved my life and health. I never thought I could be, but there are lots of great keto recipes online which are zero carb AND contain no animals.

Went on keto to try to help my severe anxiety - not knowing it was actually already being utilised in this way (I had only heard of it being discussed as a weightloss diet.) My anxiety is almost non-existent on keto and it happened within the first week. I will stick with it. 6 weeks in now.

The amount strong drugs they push on people is astounding. The less you need to take those the better. The awareness of risks is severly lacking. Why isn't diet a big concern in mental health care generally? It should be obvious that it, along with proper rest, are extremely important to any aspect of health. Why the narrow focus? And those psych pills themselves can mess up your metabolism; huge weight gain, weird cravings (even iatrogenic alcoholism), muscle loss... These tend to get brushed off too easily.
Thank you for actually helping people!

    • @GeorgiaEdeMD
      @GeorgiaEdeMD Рік тому +6

Medications do have many risks (and they can also be helpful sometimes). We need to raise awareness and educate mental health professionals about these root cause interventions so that more practitioners will use them. I like to say that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is through food because that's where the brain chemicals come from in the first place:)

@@GeorgiaEdeMDWell said. I survived a horrific illness when I was a teenager, I was even briefly clinically dead for a few minutes; so I've had to take two meds for sequelae from that; so I did NOT want to add more meds, even when I was obese and doctors would suggest meds for obesity, or meds for my anxiety and depression. On keto, I've gotten to a healthy BMI, and feel better overall too.

My husband and I have been following the information from Metabolic mind for several months now. It was a revelation to me that lasting healing is possible through the ketogenic diet. I have had bipolar disorder 2 for decades. I went all in and to my great surprise I was out of the depression after a week. It seemed like a miracle. After 7 wonderful weeks I had a huge setback. I remain faithful to the diet and hope it does its job. Are there people with the same experience?

@@metabolicmind What is also very interesting is that a vegetarian and vegan diets (which are usually lower fat and higher in carbs) are associated according to several studies with a greater prevalence of depression (vegans having a worse prevalance and severity).
And many substances found in meat and animal food are shown to be neuroprotective. Which would all speak not only for a ketogenic diet but for a ketogenic diet with a substantial amount of animal food or even for a carnivore/ketogenic diet.

Congratulations on your success! Yes there are many ways to improve mental health using dietary changes, not just keto. Whole foods is a major and very healthy change that helps a lot of people. For some people, removing a particular inflammatory culprit (such as dairy, which causes trouble for some) does the trick. In all of the cases I shared, people switched from a "standard American" diet to a ketogenic or carnivore diet. Many changes involved, hard to know which one(s) most responsible. Some of my patients absolutely must be in ketosis to feel better, no matter what they're eating, so for some people, ketones seem to be required, but not all.
