I always liked how in Xc2, if there was a chest you tried to open but failed the skill check, it would make a note of it on the map. And if you hovered the cursor over the it, the game would show you if you have the skill level necessary to open it yet. That way you could check them without needing to go all the way back. It's a good way to keep the player aware of all the chests they haven't opened yet, and how many more skill levels they would still need.
does the same with the other skill checks you'll find, made checking if I had enough leaping/superstrength etc for certain challenges that would be there before a heart to heart
