Coming from a a PA and hifi background the whole super low ohm legacy fixation for subs in car audio has always bothered me, wiring for 1-2 ohm load or below puts a hell of a strain on the amplifier and makes the resistance of speaker wires significant in delivering power to the speakers. This seems to come from a time when car amplifiers where limited in their voltage rail capacity, so they went for high current rather than high voltage in making up those watts. These days however, delivering 80-100v to speakers is hardly a problem, and in doing so you can throw many kilowatts around like they are nothing, and make the resistive losses in the (class D) power amplifier output stage and speaker cable requirements insigificant; and into the bargain maintain tight control of the driver by designing system spec to a 4 ohm or so load.
I purchased some 8x9 component speakers with a crossover and tweeters as a package from Rockville. The tweeters with the crossover smoked off with less than 25watts first time playing them and the 6x9 speakers did not blow but the rubber surrounds got hard and cracked to pieces within a month of use. Had a second set so I took them out of the box and noticed the rubber was cracking on the new 2nd set I ordered so I sent them back. Rockville is worthless. Rocking Orion door speakers now and ds18 3" tweeters.
I've had a pair of Skar VXF 12" subs on a 4500 watt RMS amp for a few years and they've been decent enough for me. I got an insane deal was really the reason I did it. At the time (2020 or so) the prices were dirt cheap and I utilized their old loyalty system and a sitewide 20% off. Two VXF 12's, 4500 watt amp, box and OFC wiring was like $600-$650. I have checked since then and their prices have gone up by 50% or so over full price from before (well over $1100 now). I'm currently running 2 ohm to the amp until I get a 3rd sub and wiring 1.3 ohm to the amp. I went 10 years or so without a system and before I had 3 JL Audio 12w6 wired the same way in a sealed box on an old school 2500 watt Phoenix Gold Titanium amp (when PG was still good) and loved it. But I was young and never handled my power issues like I have now so I only imagine how it should have sounded. Old, more wise, me bought a new alternator, battery, cap and OFC wiring. I have a gel cell optima yellow top but will be adding a second XS battery with an isolator before adding the 3rd sub and another amp

6×9s do have more cone area, but the issue is that it's not a solid shape and you get a lot of cone flex because of that. For whatever application you are going for, go with a circle. Also, let me get this straight, $1,000 is a good deal on a head unit because you can watch dvds on a 7 inch screen?
The sensitivity of the Dayton driver more than offsets the current loss because it's not 4 or 2 ohms. If you can be 10 times louder at 1/4 the watts, then I don't see the problem. Focusing on watts in car audio is like only look at half the cake ingredients.

Nobody seems to like them, so I am going to stop using them on the long-form videos.
@@DIYAudioGuy subtitles in general seem to be popular these days, its my personal preference to not have them.
that said, my issue with them was the fact that anytime you inserted any content other than the video of you talking, the subtitles weren't there. if a hearing impared person were watching they would have had to enable subtitles and would have had two sets.
before someone says "why would a hearing impaired person be researching car audio" know that plenty of them reallly like bass, or might just YT without listening aids since the captioning has gotten pretty good.
NEXT GAME - WILL IT MAX POWAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR???
That Rockville is junk all Rockville is junk my Ds18 6.5 and my skylight 6.5s have more bass and sound 10 times better and they're midrange.
how can your opinion be trusted when you cant even do simple math? "Split right down the middle, 52 / 48 that is not down the middle LOL. heheh
It's a pole, it has a margin of error.
