You can almost feel the film crew
saying "More wind! More sand!"
An homage to all classic westerns. This movie had it all. Even this scene which looks like it came out of a Gary Cooper movie.
The church behind Paden, classic western scene.
Love that movie.
Great movie, but scenes like this are why I love Wyatt Earp so much.
The scene in town where a young Wyatt sees a fight spill out into the street? Guns are pulled; a shot to the groin, the chest, a horse, a bystander, etc.
That’s the reality of guns going off in a fight: idiots hitting everything but each other, most often.
The movie is not about the town. The town is just a prop for the action..
You owe me $13..
It's not a 'duel', it's a classic Western GUN FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can they hear each other so far apart, speaking low and the wind and sand......
Goodbye, Cobb.
Hello! It’s a western.
Game over
Batten wining and losing one second extra
I don't get it. Why is that town there? There aren't any farms to supply. There aren't any factories to provide jobs. There aren't any hills or mountains to mine. There are no forests for timber and lumber (and where did the firewood come from? There are no trees!). There is no lake or ocean with fish, and no river to pan gold from, or use for agriculture. What could there possibly be to fight over? Seriously, why is that town even there?
Some western towns were built in anticipation of being a rail stop. Of course this town, were it real, would likely have been waiting a long time, yet must have been on some travel route because of newcomers (Goldblum) and having a hotel. Not sure where Silverado was supposed to be. Filmed in NM, but perhaps that's not relevant.
It's a 1985 movie. Need I say more? At least, this movie had a plot.
There were farms and ranches in the surrounding area, thus the wagon train that lead the new folks there. The sheriff was on the payroll of the biggest rancher in the area. It’s a great movie and well worth watching.
It's a movie
That town was there because no matter what the camera angle you cannot see anything modern . If there were any trees , farms ranches etc. you would see trucks and tractors in the background
That's fantasy Hollywood.
Wouldn't the shooter uphill have a slight edge over the guy below him?
In that the guy above has to raise the barrel of his gun less?
Just sayin'.
