I will fly from LAX to Narita soon in business class. I used all other major airline's business class in the past. Whenever I landed at my destination, I thought, "OMG, did I pay $6K ~ 8K for that?😳 Was it worth it?🤔 The reason I chose ZIP AIR is simple: No delicious meals, champagne, movies, music, blankets, or unnecessary services. I only want my private flat seat, because I am old now. And take me to my destination. I will buy sandwiches, and a water bottle at LAX. I will read a book and rest😊. I hope other Airlines do the same as Zip Air by JAL. I bet many people would value it. Thank you so much for your video🥰🤗.
Thanks for sharing a video about the economy seats/experience! I’ll be flying zip air out of sfo next month.
Have a good time!
Thank you so much for showing the process of how to book and what they mean because I was a little confused! Excited for my October trip to Japan! Thanks again!
Yeah, SJC is really laid back. I've taken zipair from sjc twice and both times none of my bags were weighted. I wish it was reversed since coming home from NRT, my bags are a bit heavier from all the souvenirs lol.
ZipAir's fleet of 787s are ~8.5 years old.
I loved this video! I just subscribed to your channel. I love your humor and that you gave us a review of coach. You are so correct. So many reviews of first class. Not my tax bracket either. Your review was excellent. I wondered about this airline. Hope to see more of your travel videos :)
What I do (because I’m cheap): I always carry an empty plastic soft drink bottle in my backpack. If on a long flight, I bring a larger empty plastic bottle (bring a small cup in case filling the plastic water bottle is impossible at the water fountain). After going thru security, I fill the water bottle with water before boarding. You can stick the water bottle in the pocket behind the seat in front of you during the flight. If You're still thirsty after drinking all your water, then buy a bottle.
I also bring a small empty thermos (keep hot water hot for 5+ hours… can buy at Don Quijote) in my backpack... and when in the terminal, buy coffee from a terminal eatery like Starbucks then fill the thermos before boarding.
I also bring a nice cushiony $8 neck pillow which I bought at Ross and sit on it during the flight to keep my butt from getting sore.
Because many airlines today don’t provide an entertainment monitor on the seat in front of you, for my in-flight entertainment, I just bring a soft-covered book to read and a journal notebook to write in.
When flying to the mainland, we bring over a dozen sushi in a plastic container. and/or a plastic container of Spam Musubi, But I think worth buying the meals on ZipAir flight to Narita… I heard ZipAir meals are pretty good. Make sure you buy your meals when you make your reservations… to preclude not getting one on the flight cause they ran out.
A plastic zip-lock bag of cookies (Oreos) will satisfr your munchy cravings during the flight..
I always bring a warm jacket to use as my blanket. Me, no need buy blanket. Also, I wear a long sleeve t-shirt on the flight... And long athletic socks to keep the feet warm.
Bring a portable digital scale to measure the weight of your luggage when flying back. Precludes over-weight-limit luggage.
We also bring a couple of plastic hangers and a plastic bag of clothes pins so we can wash our undies and t-shirts during showers and hang up. Hopefully clothes will dry overnite. Don't wash undies and t-shirts the night before you leave your hotel as you want a day for all to dry.
Happy travels!
I will try it in July. Going to Tokyo, I book Flatbed. But the return to SF, I will seat economy.
Thank you for this! I have been wanting to go watch F1 in Japan and also a general trip there. This will help with the expense!
Unfortunately, Zipair doesn't offer the Biz package anymore. It's only the Standard & Premium
Thank you for making review on economy 🙏
You have to BUY water on the flight? Most flights have drinkable water that you can refill your bottle with. Do they not have this?
The food is fairly good if you're flying out of Japan because they all use Japanese catering service. If you're flying out of US, all Japanese airlines are at the mercy of US catering companies.
I loved this review and hey sponge bob got mention haha... I love that you did a review of ecoonomy cause that where most of us be sitting, I am gonna sub cause your review was good and hella funny
great video. what was your airfare from CA to tokyo. Do you live in Japan or US. I seems that you are japanese american since you have really good english. Was zipair strict with the checked bag weight. Also which attractions do you recommend for tokyo japan. I want to go there. What are the average fares for taxis
this is interesting. It appears the prices are double nowadays. Anyways. I will keep looking around. Thanks for the info. Nice editing and filming.
I need to correct myself. prices seem more affordable then I mentioned previously. I suppose direct on their homepage is why I am getting better search results. Pretty afforable!
She said phók it! 😂 I died.
her Chinese accent
Super helpful, I was wondering which package would include 1 checked baggage and you mentioned The Biz, so ill be sure to select that & skip the meal! Thanks
My wife and I just did SJC NRT RT. We skipped all amenities and only had carry-ons and spent extra $24 on seat selections.
@@nateshf9303 Oh wow! Thats awesome! ill keep that in mind. I was getting ready to book a flight on ZIPAIR until I realized it landed in NRT, & that airport is far from Tokyo, & its my first time in Tokyo, so I decided to book a Hawain that lands in Haneda, but ill try Zipair next time
@@joshuacashen7289 We are going back in July, flying out of SFO and the low fare was too irresistibly.
Before the pandemic we used to fly on Korean Air from Hawaii which was great.
@@joshuacashen7289 We also prefer LAX to HND on ANA because the arrival time is 5:30am!
@@nateshf9303 Yea that low fare is unbelievable . Ill check out Korean air........Yea the flight to japan is long, so I needed that break in Hawaii.
Best video!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Just notice Zip air policy says you can't bring liquids inside the plane over 8oz, (frocing you to buy theirs)
You can always bring empty bottles and fill up before you board, just like what you do after TSA. Nobody checks your carry on before flight
As someone who has flown zipair to Tokyo twice within the last year now (once out of SJC and once out of SFO), please do NOT go for the "biz" package unless you are not checking a bag (which if you're a tourist, that would be absolutely weird not to imho). Let me break it down for you very clearly and simply: the price difference between biz and premium comes out to $57 but the biz package does NOT include a checked bag. guess what? the cost of adding a 30kg checked bag a la carte to your flight from SFO to Narita is $54... so for a measly $3 difference, you get yourself an inflight meal (again, not michelin but it's not garbage either definitely edible, would 100000% stay away from the salmon) as well as the amenity set. I don't think it takes a harvard graduate to understand the economics behind my comment.
That is all!
thx for the tip. could you let me know if after your purchase premium package and pay for the flight, when you try to book the seats- do they charge you another fee again or that's free (like the economy seats in airlines in US?)
Just returned from Japan and booked our summer trip flying out of SFO.
Yay, have fun!
Nice review, looking forward to try Zip from Tokyo to Manila next year, too bad no screens, most modern planes do have personal tv screens, specifically widebodies. Perhaps it doesn't apply to low cost carriers.
Do you know if zip air is strict with the baggage height? One of my bags is 59 cm which is 4 over their carry on limit
When I flew with them, they did not measure my bags, only checked the number of bags and weight of each. I’m not saying they don’t check, but they didn’t check mine
I would like to know as well. Can I bring my luggage which is 32in x 20in x 15in?? Or that too big?
If I bring a checked-in bag back from Narita to San Jose, and I need to transfer from San Jose to PDX as my final destination, will the checked-in bag go to PDX directly and I pick it up there, or will it arrive at San Jose and I check it in again going from San Jose to PDX? Thanks, your video was very helpful :)
This seems like a question you should confirm through airline websites since I wouldn’t know specifics and don’t want to tell you wrong info.
@@spec_egg okay, thank you !
@1:53 Judging from the names, you guys are from Hong Kong no?
Tommy is!
This was a really, really good review.
What is the type of charging port? uSB?
Do they weigh the carry on bag?
How "comfortable" are the seats, especial for an 11 hour flight? Will be booking soon for August trip and am debating econ or biz due to seat size💺.. asking for a rather wide senior. Thank you!
I go on June 2, I’ll let you know once I get on that plane!
The seats are pretty standard compared to other international economy airline seats. If your senior friend finds those comfortable enough, they may be okay with this one.
@@spec_egg did you guys purchase insurance for the flight? Or no? Did you guys had no delay or problem?
@@abnormalization8825 we never purchase insurance for flights, but we do use travel credit card that comes with some sort of travel protection. We did not experience any delays
@@spec_egg thank you for your comment back. I appreciate you guys! You guys earned a Sub!
did the seats reclined?
How did you get it in getzip air prices in USD it's always in yen
