Guys if you dont have for example lets say a thin metal piece like she used. If you have an umbrella lying around u dont mind breaking then there is a thin sturdy metal piece there. Broke a piece of and jabbed from the top of the drain and worked like a charm. Made it easier to by unclipping the roof. Pushin it back slightly and going down the side passages for the water

That’s how Laguna do be like sometimes. Tank slappers like that always give you a mental reboot, especially at higher risk tracks like Laguna. Glad you got to salvage the rest of the day and were able to drive it back home! I was a bit less lucky back in June and had to wait hours for a tow truck to arrive after AAA rudely yelled and hung up on me. Looks like your impact is cosmetic but I’d still check for hidden frame damage just in case- either way, body shops are magicians and I was sending it in the same car a couple months later with no problems. I also noticed your RE’s are early 2022 date codes and not really worn in as the grooves still look pretty fresh. I know it was wet and first session so pressures might have been too high, but I wonder if the RE’s just have a shorter shelf life than other tires, which may have contributed to your loss of traction. I bought a discounted sticker set of old stock (2021 datecode) and had just eight heat cycles on them before one of the tires catastrophically failed in mild conditions, with noticeably less grip than what I was expecting right out the box. I don’t have other datapoints to back this up, but it might be that the current RE’s need to be used up shortly after their production for them to be predictable and effective. Could be an interesting thread to open up in CTA and see what the armchair experts have to say about it 😂

Damn that sucks. Ive had some crazy almost moments at Laguna. Luckily you are ok and so is the car.

I bought a new red '95 mazda rx-7 (wow, almost 30 years ago). On the drive home from the dealer, I acclerated mildly at a left turn and the rear end immediately tried to do a u-turn! I quickly realized the 225 tires had to go. Soon, forged Fikse wheels with 235s up front and 275s on the rear solved that weakness. I followed the blog of a guy and his RX-7 on a mazda forum who was tracking his car at Laguna Seca, frequently racing a corvette. His front end washed out in the slowest turn, with the right front coming to rest at the barrier. He thought it was a fairly soft bump, but the repair bill came to just under $15K. No insurance at the track, he disappeared from the forum. I hope you have good resources for your hobby! I'm driving a 981 Cayman S, tuned, just got some forged wheels for it. But my hobby won't include the track, not enough resources, lol.

That darn river at 3. Sorry to see it. Glad you're alright and kudos for getting right back on the horse. As others have mentioned the rear quarter will PDR out very nicely even with the body line now - I think Teslas have given PDR pros extra practice these few years...

thinking about installing this however I have the Roadstersport midpipe and it extends about a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch below that metal guard. Would this still fit? I guess worst case I could add some washers?

I’m 6’ tall. My issues with the stock, on the road, if rolled my head is above hoops. I’m looking for the best way to lower stock seat for more clearance. Assuming this project included oem seats. Thoughts?

You didn’t protect the radiator underneath. IMO the underneath protection is more critical than thr front in case things hit it. Anyway your bottom radiator doesn’t look bad. I had already a few stone chips after 1 week while no damages on front radiator.

For pass, follow them at t5 closely, go right side on the straight and brake late at T6, you will pass them all. Just what I will do😅 Build up the better corner exit speed is the half way to pass.

It was a fun event, but Session 1 on Saturday had horrible conditions. B group wasn't any better. Some spins in Session 1 and some crashes in Session 2 (right in front of me) after T11 and then on Session 4 (penalized entire B group).

When driving at high speed on the freeway is there any wobble in the middle of the wing? I've read that people have bought reps of these & that they flex under high winds.

Two options are to cut the Y shaped plastic out so you have a round unobstructed hole or drop a few 12" zip ties down from the inside and just lift and push them from inside when it clogs. That's the smell of pollen decay and road grime. I pour some simple green in and rinse the pocket to make it fresh.
