I am currently preparing an online school for Japanese language learners whose dream is to be able to speak Japanese. The school’s number one goal is to help people who are not confident in speaking Japanese learn to speak it well. We create memorable classes that resonate emotionally with students, so that when it’s time to speak, you will find yourself speaking naturally. The content of the class itself is created by a Japanese language teacher, myself, and a designer. Since I am not a professional Japanese language teacher, I thought it would be better to have a professional teach instead. The fee has not been finalized yet, but it will be about the same as other Japanese language schools.
Classes will be offered every 3 months (1 term) starting next April. We are preparing 3 courses per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and 2 courses per week (Tuesday, Thursday) for 3 months.
In order to maintain the quality of the classes, we, unfortunately, can not take many students in the beginning.
So, if anyone is interested, please pre-register using the link below, as we are considering admitting students on a registration basis. This will help us understand if we need additional teachers.

Just a little nuance so you keep realistic expectations: don't be one of those people who cry that they still can't understand mangas after studying Japanese for 6 months. There is a reason why this language is considered one of the hardest to learn. Depending on your native tongue, count around 2 years of diligent studying to get to a comfortable level. Don't forget that Hitoki speaks in an extremely easy-to-understand Japanese that is far from how native speakers actually speak on a daily basis. But this is not a race, as he said: have fun with your studies, find ways to entertain yourself while learning at the same time. You'll get there eventually! ^___^!

Indeed. I'm not really diligent in my studies but I would regularly watch native japanese vlogs so that I could get used to the pace in which they speak at. I still can't speak Japanese but I'm already at the level where I can understand about 90% of what they're saying (as long as it's about daily life haha)
If you read manga, I recommend Doraemon.
The stories are not complicated and there are no difficult kanji because it is basically for children.

@@rein0123 I can't put them in the background, I need to pay attention to understand what he is saying, but he always speaks such understandable Japanese, it's really great.
I won't claim I understand 100% of what is being said, but I understand most of it. Maybe I'll get to the point where I can listen to these videos in the background, but for now I am happy I can understand them without subtitles :D
@@Yotanido thats true, he speaks really clearly and slowly which is really helpful. There were one or two instances where he used a word I didn't know and I had to rewind to see the subtitles but that was about it. Then again, my way of learning japanese is speaking to people in the language so my listening skills are a lot better

I think it all just depends on how and how much you study. Even though I was doing anki and all the technical stuff a lot I found that I really wasn’t acquiring japanese too well. When I finally started doing things that were less along the lines of studying and more along the lines of fun that’s when I really started to get good. I spent maybe 7 months or so getting an ok foundation for the language but I still couldn’t understand well at all. Then I started reading, watching movies, speaking to people, and writing and that’s when I really started to improve. I wish that from the start I did sentence mining because that’s where most of my vocab comes from, I only have maybe 1,000 learned anki cards but I know way more words than that based on the things that I learned through context. Even recently I learned maybe about two hundred new words in a week and a half from doing sentence mining from some novels and some UA-cam videos so it just goes to show how when you enjoy something you learn much faster.

That's about where I'm at right now. I used WaniKani and the Genki workbooks to get a foundation of Kanji and grammar, but recently I've used a language exchange app and it's really upped the game. My Japanese friends say things to me or phrase something in a certain way that I would have never thought of, and it has helped me learn a lot faster. Definitely agree with the sentiment that making it fun makes you learn quicker!

Ahahahah months... I'm on year 6 studying Japanese and because I haven't spoken it for a long time and only focused on reading and listening there is a gigantic gap between my speaking abilities and what I can understand 🙃🙃 there is nothing more frustrating than understanding everything you're being told and then struggling with replying 😂😭

I’m learning Japanese and my native language is Spanish (along with English which I learned when I was young) and Japanese is easier when you know Spanish since the tones and accents are similar

Eso NO es verdad. Los acentos en español son más fuertes que en japonés. Son idiomas totalmente diferentes aunque las vocales suenan un poco parecidas.

I agree. The pronunciation is way better since my native tongue is spa spanish. My main problem isn't speaking but rather learning vocabulary and learning what the pitch accent is on certain words
I totally agree, a few years ago I moved to South America and I knew 0 Spanish but in just 2-3 months I could speak very fluent Spanish and my Italian accent became almost unnoticeable, it was obviously easier because Spanish and Italian are a lil similliar but this is just to remember you to never give up!

In my experience the speed of learning a new language is influenced significantly by how close the new language is to your native language or another one you speak well. I’ve been struggling with Japanese for four years but about five months ago took up Norwegian on a whim. Already my Norwegian is many times better than my Japanese despite me putting in far fewer hours. The grammar and vocabulary is just so similar to English and German that putting together sentences seems easy and new vocabulary I can often learn just seeing it once. With Japanese vocabulary and Kanji drop out of my head at an alarming rate!

I have been studying Japanese on and off on my own for 2.5 years and yes, I can read/write (not writing by hand) and somewhat understand bits of conversation but speaking is a different story 🥴

Still a newbie when it comes to Japanese(it’s only been 48 days). I’m not able to study for long hours or extended periods as I’m also doing my degree so I typically do like 30mins-1hr a day.
I think it’s reassuring to know that it’s perfectly normal that not everyone learns as quickly due to external commitments or other factors.
My senior who has self studied Japanese for 4 years recommended that I listen to some beginner podcasts in order to incorporate it into my daily life because we don’t get the chance to speak it here. My hellotalk partner has been very helpful as well in answering my queries too☺️

First of all, thank you for acknowledging there's nothing wrong with learning a second language primarily in order to have fun! I not only want to be able to read manga in Japanese, and watch anime and kaijuu films in Japanese, but I also want to be able to talk to Japanese fans of anime, manga, and kaiju films. In regard to you're wanting to get better at Spanish to be able to go to nightclubs in Spain, the late polyglot, Barry Farber said there's no wrong reason to learn a language, and one of the good reasons is to be able to date more people. Learn some good dance moves, and you may impress all the lovely senoritas! Lastly, it's great that you were able to help the Japanese lady with her passport in a similar manner to how the other lady helped you by ordering dumplings for you. I'm not sure if you've heard this English expression before, but to help someone else, after you've been helped by someone is called "Paying it forward."Great video Hitoki! Keep up the good work!
That's great to know! I am planning to learn Japanese after I graduate from college this May. I met some Japanese students over a Zoom call (was supposed to travel but COVID pandemic canceled the trip). I realized I couldn't understand any Japanese so I felt bad trying to communicate with them, relying on drawings and translation language text. I grew up speaking English in school and hearing Spanish from my family. It has been a while I signed in American Sign Language with others, only my interpreters. I personally feel like if I make sure to study everyday, I'll learn Japanese in a year, hopefully. I always feel like learning a language takes time and cannot be rushed, it is a process. I learn the languages based on basic life knowledge (numbers, money, food, clothes, basic communication knowledge like asking for help or asking for directions, etc.). I noticed learning a language is easier with family members as well as reading and watching movies with a specific language, I learn a lot. I pretty much the 3 languages at the same time growing up in school age, so school, family members and the shows I watch and reading books. Edit: Writing helps a lot too!

Hello Hitoki! Your videos are awesome!! I would pay for the Japanese scripts, or just a transcription of the captions, and in fact, I already copy the captions by hand when using your videos to study. Thank you again, and I wish you success!
For example, I recognized the verb 覚える when you reminisced about something you did with your taiwanese friends (I didn't have much more context than that when I was watching in Japanese only the first time). I didn't know the kanji, but because I watched the subs as you were speaking and I knew the word's meaning by it's sound, I now have that kanji in my head. Now, it's not memorized yet, I'm sure, but because your videos are memorable and you use a relatively small-ish and common vocabulary for them (thank you) I will remember recognizing this word when I hear it again, and maybe that will bring the kanji up. Also, I appreciate your using graphics and relatively little English on screen. I feel like there are some words that I know now, including the onomatopoeias obviously, that I can describe roughly in English, but understand more deeply than my English explanation can go. This is, of course, my goal: to converse in Japanese or consume Japanese media without an English mediator. Thank you again!!
Edit: not that it's important, but when I hear 覚えてる, I immediately remember in 君の名は when 宮水 went to meet 瀧 and that one/two word line (depending on if you recognize ない as an adjective or as a form) 覚えてい…ない。Emotional stuff sticks.

It took me just a couple of months to be functional, 5 years to be fully conversational (beyond talking just about myself, but being able to switch gears mid-conversation and offer up more than just short staccato utterances of learned phrases), 10 to become fully fluent and 15 to become literate. In 30 years in Japan I can count with two fingers the number of foreigners I've met who are literate enough to read a newspaper and that includes myself. The bottom line is there are no quick fixes to acquiring a 2nd language. It takes time...a lot of it
This video was very interesting, totally 10 minutes a day is enough for me since I study on my own, and as I was saying before I got to know people from Japan and sometimes we talk by voice in order to gain more knowledge and exchange knowledge of languages.. Sometimes I get frustrated when I don't understand the rules of Japanese.. but I'm trying to do the lesson again, right here you feel like you want a teacher 😂😂😂

Thats true learning a language takes time for example when i started learning English i thought i would become fluent in 3 months but that wasnt the case it took of me 2 years of practice and listening to podcasts to be able to finally understand English i want to learn Japanese o have already started with hiragana n im taking it slowly since Japanese is hard but i still like it as a language i thought of many ways n figured out its not just about learning n speaking it its about understanding the whole thing for example kanji each character means something like 雪 which means snow n 森 which means forest which makes Japanese interesting,unique n fun in my personal opinion it takes time but at least im ready to learn it
I've been studying japanese for 3.5 semesters at university. Possibly studying abroad in japan for a year starting next spring (if things go to plan). At minimum I have N4 level rn, maybe low N3. I can pretty much understand 80% of what your saying. Helps that my current class is all in japanese.
That being said... I'm kinda worried about getting around and making friends. Yea I can more or less hold a conversation via texting, but I'm weaker in speaking and a lot of times I'm missing vocab. Japanese class and nice language exchange friends are one thing, japanese people going full speed convo real life is another. ちょっと怖そうです。
Hopefully I can get to a comfy conversational level speaking wise in not too much time while I'm in japan.

N4 and n3 are still beginner level. Even n1 isn't anywhere close to fluency. I took a year of Japanese in university and learned basically nothing. Then after a few years of self studying i can read and speak at an n1 level. But i have many years to go before fluency.

I'm learning japanese just for the fun to read captivating japanese text. A lot aren't translated in my first language (french). I was amaze to discovered the lost nuances in translation that can happen.
I'm A5 in deutsh and spanish and intermediate in english. I have found that learning language by learning language books or apps useless for me. So I usuelly took a random book on a shelf and translate it alongside studying the grammar in parallèle. It is long but so much fun to do. In the novel I took for learning Japanese, the author was talking about automobile traffic. It took one month to translate, but now I know as much vocabulary that I could make radio announcement of it. I wonder what would be the next chapter subject.
I notice that too! When I watch shows that's translated in other languages than the original, the translation can be lost or there's censorship so the words are changed. I often find myself preferring the original show in its original language.

I've been learning japanese at a university course, but even though I have been studying for three months, I wouldn't say I can communicate xD I can barely introduce myself so far, and the course is about to finish but it's really slow, and sadly I don't have the discipline to follow an autodidact way of learning like through duolingo, I need a teacher explaining how language works in order for me to understand :c Anyways, sorry for the rant, I love your videos, even though I can only watch them with subs hehe I hope you can learn spanish easily, that's my mother tongue, you have the advantage of similar pronunciation, がんばってください！

@@Thubanshee well, i didnt end up moving til 4 months ago. if you move on ur own, youreforced to speak/use tools when needed, which is a great help. that being said, im still on a poor n5 level speech due to a poor grammar memory. My reading has skyrocketed, though. if you are struggling, i highly recommend practicing with willing, non english speakers. its hard, but it forced me out of my comfort zone - but i felt a confidence boost afterwards somehow, even if my anxiety was high. all the best xx

I am struggling, but not with speaking... Vocabulary and kanji take so much time and consistent studying to remember and I get so impatient... Please do a video on けど!! I know it means the equivalent of “…but”, except I hear a lot of Japanese people use it at the end of their sentence

I could understand everything you said but I studied N5 for 2 years ago and failed. I stopped learning the Japanese language for a long time.
I decided to pick it up like a month ago.
Maybe, watching anime every day paid me off. Well, I don't watch anime anymore but still watching anime and Japanese series helped me a lot to understand the conversations very well.
My only problem is ' Grammars '. Because my native language doesn't have ' complicated Grammar ' and is extremely simple.
I've been studying Japanese for like 2.5/ 3 years, and actually I'm on N5〜N4 level (I study one time at week, so it's understable that It've took me a lot of time) I can understand simple and dairy conversations in 90〜100% (depending on how fast the person is talking and how much strange words does he/she/x use) I can speak, I hope in a normal and casual way, and pretty fast, but when I have to explain a complex term, idea or I wanna say some long phrases usually I have problems ordering my own ideas and my grammar inside my head😅
It's fun compared with how long i've been studying french (13 years at the moment) and for me it's really difficult, I can't say more than a few basic phrases , I can't keep a normal conversatiom in french even if I studied that for more than half of my life. Pretty strange
Don’t worry, i also study once a week with a tutor and i just do some basic homework in between tutoring sessions. I’ve been doing so for a year and a half and I’m also around N5-N4, but sometimes i forget really basic stuff that i learned in N5. And its hard to remember the vocabulary. Sometimes i feel lost and like im wasting my parents’ money when i see others speaking fluently after one year. But then I remember that this my journey and only MINE. Im doing a lot of stuff besides learning japanese and i cant do everything on a high level. Dont compare yourself to others, its just a matter of comfort. Id rather study it for 5 years (every level per year) than exhausting myself rn when i also have school and exams to get into a good uni abroad. Take care
I'd been studying Japanese for 9 months by myself. Two months ago I met on Tandem a Japanese native speaker, and we speak two hours three days per week (one hour in English, one hour in Japanese)
I'm not fluent at all but I can understand her and I can speak chotto dake, but I'm having fun!! I can make myself understood :)

I met this Japanese lady who I got to work with for a few days, a week ago - she gave me the inspiration to finally study Japanese. She even asked for my number so she could test me. I've been texting her most days which has been really helpful and still can't believe how kind she is to help me. It's the first Japanese person that I met in my life and she's been really kind and helpful 👍

I've been into Japanese for almost 6 years now, but I started to give more attention to the language around 2 years ago. I can pretty much say that I understand most of what was said in the video, however when it comes to speaking Japanese, I don't have much experience, in other words, I can understand the what a person is saying, but I find it hard to construct sentences.
So a quick tip for those who are also aspiring to learn Japanese, I suggest you try speaking Japanese orally, too, not just understanding what someone says, so that you don't end up like me. I suggest using things like social games as a medium (maybe something like VRChat? As for me though, I've only had ProSeka a few times for interaction with some Japanese people in which I couldn't make up my vocabulary).
p.s. I am self taught and have no Japanese friends I could talk to and I'm no good with socialization, so I couldn't put my knowledge to use. Thus, I ended up like this.
I'm also grateful to UA-camrs like Onomappu who make videos with English subtitles, because through that, I could use the video as practice wherein I listen to what he says and try to give an interpretation, then afterwards, I turn on the subtitles to evaluate my own work on how I did.
It’s much better to watch a video the whole way through without subtitles /with no pausing as it allows you to get used to the natural flow of conversation. The second time you watch you can look deeper into it.

It took me around 6 years to be fluent in English (I've learnt it for much longer than that though...), my native language is German btw (I am German, grew up here, etc)
But since German schools force us to learn a second language (90% of the time it's English but sometims French, rarely Spanish. Sometimes you get to decide which one you wanna learn but all the schools I've been to always forced us to learn English and sometimes we'd have more English classes than German classes...I was actually worse in German for that exact reason...still am but I do speak fluently..I'm just more clumsy with my words when speaking German) I started learning that since Kindergarten and so I've been speaking both German and English for almost my entire life. I've recently noticed that I've actually been improving and speaking English with interest for 10, almost 11 years now and German the rest of the way (I'm currently 21 only for 1 more month tho so I guess it's more accurate to say I've been speaking English for half my life at this point)
Now that I'm fluent in English and fluent, but clumsy in my native language...I've been bored because there's nothing new to learn other than some random new words that I come across once in a while.
I watch Anime....and I have some friends I've made in Splatoon 2 who only speak Japanese and sometimes a few words in English aka broken English and so I started learning Japanese
It's been 2 years I still can't say stuff beyond お元気ですか (How are you) 、元気です！(I'm fine!) 、お名前はトビーです。(My name is Toby) 、もちろんだよ (Sure) and so on etc etc just really basic sentences that could be considered an introduction for a newly met stranger I'm like at the really low level of N5 basically. Maybe at 5% of like a 10.000% if 10.000% were like N1 level which I doubt I'll ever reach in my lifetime lmao
So I can only really ask my friends how they are and once they say anything else that has lots of Kanji in it I pull up google translate lmao because I can't speed learn a single Kanji let alone multiple of them in 5 mins and give a logical response to the way it was used in their sentance it would probably take me quite a while because I still get super simple Kanji mixed up all the time or sometimes I don't get the point of a sentence when I can only listen to it. Happens to me a lot when kanojo ( 彼女 ) is used...idk why...sometimes I just don't know if they are currently just talking about a sibling or mom and reffering to them as "she" or if they are talking about their girlfriend lmao. Like: " 僕の彼女はほんとにかわいいです！" is most likely a dude saying that his girlfriend is really cute but once there is no context to pull from like that I'm like " ガールフレンド又は彼女 ?! "

I've been studying Japanese for 5 years but I never actively studied, I memorized hiragana and katakana a long time ago and I can read some kanji confidently. But was left to wonder why I never became fluent after all the years of studying. Back then I thought learning how to read and write will help me become fluent in japanese, it did help a little but I couldn't form sentences just a phew phrases. Wish me luck on my Japanese fluency journey~ ❤

I thought it was going to be something ridiculous like 10-20 years or something, since japanese people have been learning ever since they were old enough. 10 months, while a little long, really isn't that bad. especially for learning a language.
